Rebirth

Nyx stirred from a hazy world of dreams. The darkness seeming to fall away, peeling back like a flower to expose the world of reality. Her eyes fluttered open to find a grouping of familiar faces. Each with brows furrowed in worry and lips pursed thin. Their voices where hushed and words spoked quickly, far too quickly for her to piece together what they were saying. Her body felt weird. Felt heavier. Much heavier. Why?
The voices became more focused, words finally sounding pronounced instead of slurred together. Her eyes fluttered open to find the kindly face of Mae hovering over her. “She's coming through,” murmured the young woman as she pressed a hand against Nyx's head. “Please stand back.” The vet's voice was soothing and the absol child thought she may fall back into the world of dreams if she continued to listen to it. She had always have a soft spot for the sweet doctor. Perhaps it was because the doctor was the one who first found her.
Familiar faces pushed passed the edges of her sight as her eyes finally focused. Concern and confusion were written on each of her family member's faces, Nyx took the time to study each one. The youngest girl, Miko gazed back at Mae. “W-what happened to her?” To this, Nyx's eyes widen. They were talking of her as were they're grim looks. What was wrong with her?
Panic ran through her system as she attempted to bolt up on all fours only to stumble back to the ground. Her body, there was something wrong with her body and it was then that she saw it. Where her paws once were was hands that wiggled as she commanded them to wiggle and flex. Quickly, she brought those hands to her being, patting herself up and down to find that she'd become human or at least close to one. Nyx still had her fur and horn, even the gem on her forehead. Strands of white hair fell across her face as she tossed about. It wasn't until she felt a strong pair of arms wrap tight around her body and the all too familiar voice of Nana whispering into her ear words of comforts did she calm.
“Calm yourself, youngin' else you hurt yourself.” The elderly woman held the absol close to her, rocking Nyx gently in her arms. It soothed her worries and slowed the pulse of her racing heart. Nyx moved her arms, positioning them in a way to allow her hands to rest on the Nana's. “There, there. It's going to be all right.”
Her mouth was oddly formed and all she could manage is soft whimpers. Words weren't easy to form just yet. She needed a while to grow used to the fleshy lips she had now. They were soft and almost silky to the touch. Nyx rubbed a finger against them. She shifted the around, forming circles and stiffening them to form the thin line she saw the older women do when angered.
Flicking her eyes back upwards to focus once more on the familiar faces around her, she smiled. In unison, the group sighed heavily with relief. A smile was all the needed to see and the same to Nyx to make her world right. She peeked beneath the blanket that hid the rest of her figure. To her surprise, she had toes that wiggled oddly at the end of long legs. The absol girl would've thrown off the blankets and attempt to stand if Mae wasn't there to press a hand on her shoulders to keep her from doing any experiments.
“Not just yet, Nyx.” she murmured before straightening with her arms crossed looking more thoughtful then ever.
Nana finally released her though, helping her stand on her feet without letting the child run about more naked like the day she was born. Or at least when she was just a pokemon. Nyx found her legs to be shaky and uncertain as she gained her footing. One foot in front another as she begun walking for the first time with two legs. It was odd and awkward, but with her family by her side it was all possible!
This had to be one of her best days! Fore where ever she was surrounded by smiles, she was accepted, and she knew well that she was loved for just being her. The change has just brought her closer to them and this made her heart light with joy as that in the end was her wish.
