* Continues from Luck of the draw*
It only took a short while for Maslin to realize he was being followed. Every now and again he could see light reflecting off of eyes from within the edge of the treeline. It seemed his previous dragon opponent was not done with him yet and had indeed brought friends this time. It was moments like this that made Maslin regret not being a little lighter or in better shape. Had he been able to run flat out he might have made it to where one of the other's was patrolling. there was still a chance he could lure the Ysali pack to where he'd have bac-
Luck was not on Maslin's sides for before he could finish that thought a trio of Ysali dragons burst from the trees and charged at him. They might be the smallest dragons in magesc but they were still dragons and particularly dangerous when they out numbered you. He might be decent at dodge a snapping jaw or a swiping claw but Maslin doubted he could get three opponents to miss him every time.
He lifted the wooden whistle that'd been hanging round his neck and blew it to summon the other's who should be patrolling in the area. Before being sent out each volunteer or drafted person had been given a whistle in case they got into real trouble.
The ysali trio paused for a moment at the sudden high pitched noise and then charged him again. Maslin swore as he tried to dodge the claws and teeth of the dragons, all of which were no doubt coated the poison due to the breed's affinity with plant life. The pale haired young man did his best to fight back but it was difficult to get his magic off when he kept having to trying and avoid getting hit. His defensive magic worked better but even if was not as strong or stable as he would have liked.
The young man found himself pinned down and staring up at a mouth full of sharp teeth when he heard voices off in the distance. It seemed that the cavalry had arrived and just in time. Arrows rained down around him and the dragon's scattered, a few of them sporting an arrow or two in their scaley hides.
Maslin was saved from disaster once again and he noted that he really wasn't getting any better at the dragon hunting business.
