"Just a little bit further."
Mother and daughter made their way across the grassy plains that stretched out to the south of the Pantheon, there was a track, worn into the grass to reveal the chalky ground beneath. They were heading towards the cliffs, towards a grassy hill that rose up out of the flat fields. Once it had been bare and green, now, however it was a hive of activity. Construction, carts and vehicles carrying materials and builders had drawn the trackways in the green grass.

"See Cae, this will be my temple one day." She had her hand firmly in her daughter's and walked slowly at the child's pace. Now it was a few levels of brick a plan with a long way to go. It was a sunny day, the wind sweeping in off the coast carrying gulls, floating on the currents of warm air.

Caelia was looking, wide-eyed, as looked all around herself. She had no idea they were coming here when they'd left for a walk ! Though... "What's a temple, mommy ?" Augury would blink. A temple, of course, was the last thing on her curious, young mind.

Then she noticed the gulls. "Mommy, look ! Birdies !"

Ah yes, she kept forgetting she had to explain most everything to them. Well, teach.
"Well it's a special place where people can come together so we can help them. As it's my temple it will be where people come to learn about number and ask for my advice on things." Her daughter's attention was taken by the birds, this caused the goddess to smile. "Yes Seaguls." She stopped and reached out to pick Cae up. Not much of a height improvement but maybe she could see them a bit better.

She had been in there a few times, though she had been more interested with playing with the mortal children than sitting still and giving them a proper example. Caelia learned by moving, touching, feeling, exploring - and unless one managed to catch her attention, it was hard to make her sit still more than a few minutes.

"Biiirddddies~" And now the birds had her attention, it seemed, so Cosine would have to wait for them to stop being novelty before she could remind Caelia there was a temple to see. "They're named seagulls because they like the sea ?"

Cosine certainly did not mind that her daughter's attention had been captured by the birds, afterall she had just brought her out to spend some time with her. The temple had been a distraction that she had decided Caelia might enjoy.
"Yes, they live near the sea, around the cliffs. Listen to their sound, it's quite distinctive, you always know when you are near the sea because you hear that sound."

Little hands would reach toward the sky, as if trying to touch the birds who flew overhead... But of course such a thing was not possible.

Her curiosity with the birdies seemed sated for now. "Can we go see the temple, mommy ?"

Yup, that was her children, five second attention spans. She set Cae back on the ground and looked up at the large stone structure that was slowly taking shape.
"Of course, but you must stay with me. It's dangerous up there whilst they are building. I do not want you to be hurt."

She slid her hand into her mother's and let her lead the way - for now, at least. But there was no telling when something would catch Caelia's attention and cause her to run off to explore whatever it was that interested her.

Five seconds attention spans, indeed.

Cosine gave her daughter's hand a squeeze and led her up the hill towards the temple, or what would be a temple. Now it was a skeleton of a building, brick walls, a roof being placed on top. If they could see it from the view of e bird they would see it was hexagonal in shape. They were walking through what would be a temple gateway. Towards the large entrance. There were only a few layers of brick, with men working to build it higher.
"I want to show you something." She glanced down at her daughter and gave her a smile. Above a caw as infinity swooped down towards them, perching on knarled tree in the courtyard.

The notion that it was not finished yet seemed to escape her. At the mention of being shown something, though, Caelis would be all ears. "Something ?" What could that something be ? Hmm.

"What is it, mommy ?"

"It's not finished yet, the people have to build the temple brick by brick." A long process but one that was well worth it.
"Some things are nearly finished." She kept her hand in her daughter's and took her just to the left of the entrance. Wooden structures had been built, like a cabinet with many drawers.
"This is omikuji, it is a way to predict the future using numbers."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Brick by brick ??? "Won't that take a long time ?" A super long time, even ! Like, months !

Though, her attention was taken by the omikuji. Predict the future ???

That was so cool.

"How does it work, mommy ?" Really, she couldn't just tell her that and not show how it worked, right ??

"Well it will take a while, a few months perhaps." She walked up to the structure and reached for a box, it was hexagonal in shape and made of wood. Cosine shook it and within came the sound of rattling. "Numbers can tell us many things. Here, give it a shake." She handed the box to her daughter. "Shake it until a stick comes out of that little hole, then tell me the number on the stick."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. How would her mommy be able to wait that long ?? It was not something the young Augury could truly understand. Patience was not one of her virtues, at least not yet. And months was pretty much her whole life so far. And that was a long time.

The strange box was much more interesting than that, though. It would take quite a few shakes before a stick would come out. "Three !"

Well, at least the box had captured her daughter's interest. She had seemed rather unimpressed that the temple could not be built there and then. Patience, though not something she possessed in great measure would have to be learned.
"Three. Well, now we find the box that says three." Cosine looked for the drawer with the coresponding number. "Now, soon there will be lots of pieces of paper in here with fortunes, but let me see. She crouched down next to her daughter.
"The number three is perfect for you. It's creative and excitable, though in need of guidance. I think you find it hard to concentrate for periods of time and you may have trouble finishing projects in the future." Cosine smiled a little. "Your charm and wit will help you through life, you will travel and make many friends. Your family will always help you when you need help." She winked. "Maybe less predicting the future, more offering guidance. There are many different ways to practice divination through number."
