Personality: Katarombei is a grumpy individual. He'd much rather be alone with his Zanpakuto than with a company of loud shinigami. However just because he is grumpy does not mean he is unsociable. Quite the opposite actually as he will join in on various debates and banter with his squad mates while on a group mission. Kat believes that comradery between his allies is important for a successful mission. People have been known to say that Kat's sense of humor is rather bland, but he is able to make light of a bad situation when the time calls for it. When not being hostile he is a rather nice guy to have around.

However unlike his rather unsociable tastes his appearance says otherwise. His bright bleach white hair and unusual piercings make him a rather hard to miss character in the midst of his fellow shinigami. Another thing that seems odd about Kat is that even though his attitude seems rebellious he follows orders very well and has a very proud set of values. He tries to never be late and is always early to rise and the last to sleep.

Hobbies: Kat enjoys listening to music and casually drinking with his friends. When not doing that he is either running errands or training his swordsman skills.

Favorite Activities: Kat's favorite thing to do is to go to concerts in the world of the living. The fascination with loud music and the neon lights makes it the perfect activity for him.
Favorite Foods and Drinks: Kat loves sweet and sour foods. Things like cake and lemonade that have a blast of flavor.
Other Personal Likes: Under Katarombei's hard exterior he is a playful individual in both swordplay and promiscuity. Though he would never admit it he loves being sought after.

History:

Human Life: In his human life Katarombei was a fairly typical boy. He worked when not in school and dedicated a lot of time to his studied. As a child he lived in the slums of a nearby city to Karakura town before it became a thriving city. At the age of eight his parents sent him off to live with his grandparents that had just moved to the recently built city of Karakura. He was home schooled by his grandmother and learned traditional sword practice from his grandfather. At the age of 12 he was enrolled in school and in a few years was in line for a scholarship for a good college. However unbeknownst to him he was being watched by none other than the grand fisher. His grandmother became very ill in the next following weeks and soon after died from unknown causes. At her funeral both Katarombei and his grandfather mourned the loss of a beloved member of the family. His grandfather left the cemetery, leaving Katarombei to wander the yard until he found the river side. It was there that he was lured to the edge by the grand fisher and killed. Luckily for him before his soul was devoured a shinigami stepped in to protect him and performed a Konso to save him.

Afterlife: Katarombei was inducted into the soul society twenty years after the beginning of his spirit life. Living in the rukon district he trained hard to be accepted into the soul reaper academy. After a few years in the training academy he graduated and quickly joined the ranks of squad two. He was put there because of his keen ability to move silently and swiftly with great precision. However he soon realized that the stealth division was not something he agreed with. The aspect of killing someone from the shadows was unappealing so he transferred to the seventh division. There he trained under Saza Taichou for many years until he gradually earned the rank of lieutenant.


─Zanpakuto Information {Sealed}─

Zanpakuto Name: Tenmei (Karma)

Zanpakuto Appearance: Katarombei's Zanpakuto is a standard sealed blade in a typical black saya. However on the end of the pommel is a small ornamental skull with one red eye that seems to want to pop out of its socket at any time. The skull symbolizes the spirit that resides inside the blade.
Zanpakuto Spirit: [XXX] Karma (Tenmei) is a humanoid spirit that is the pure manifestation of Kat's Zanpaktou. Though he looks human Karma can take on many forms. In his spirit world Karma can manifest freely and moves around by reaching out his own shadow and appearing in different places, even able to duplicate himself by splitting his shadow before he stretches them. Karma's eyes are a deep crimson that seem to pierce through you when he sets his gaze on you. His legs seem to meld down into his own shadow, giving the appearance that he is more of a manifestation than a true being.
Inner World: [XXX] Katarombei's inner world consists of a huge sculpted an oddly shaped building that sits as a lone construct in the middle of his inner world. The rest is nothing more than a white marble slate that seems to stretch on forever into the distance with a baby blue sky overhead.

[XXX] Inside the large building is a one room concert hall that stretches down rows and rows of seats to the main stage. Red carpet and stark white cream walls adorn the inside of the building. A grand piano is bolted down onto the main stage that seems to be made of polished mahogany and is always in tune. Speakers are set up around the inside of the room arranged parallel on each side.

Basic Zanpakuto Attacks/Powers:


─Zanpakuto Information {Shikai}─

Shikai Incantation: "As they reap, they most sow."

Shikai Appearance: [XXX] Tenmei in its released form is a midnight black blade that looks similar to a knights sword. However the edge of the blade is a pure snow white metal that is sharp the the touch. The hilt of the blade is a semi circular guard with three spikes that stretch an inch or so out from the guard. Behind that is a tightly leather wrapped guard that is close to the same color as the blade.
Shikai Abilities: Karma is a very particular Zanpaktou. Though he is an extension of Katarombei he is the polar opposite in mentality. Karma believes that in order for a soul reaper to harness his power, one must pay a price to the mighty Karma. In that same aspect, in order for a combatant to do battle with this legendary blade, they must also offer a tribute or be mowed down by a powerful backlash of Karma.

Shikai Techniques:
Akuun (Bad Luck): Katarombei is able to divert an attack that is of shikai level or lower if the attack is an reishi released source. This ability also works of Hado of rank 70 or below. To activate this ability one must simply put Karma in the way of the oncoming attack. The attack will be diverted by either splitting it down the middle or pushing it to either side of the blade.

Yuuryou (Toll): This ability is the same technique as Akuun except instead of diverting the attack, the ability is absorbed into the blade and charged into one of the three spikes on the guard. The spike will then turn a crystal blue at the tip until Keigoku is released. Of course as with Akuun, Yuuryou has the same energy limitations though it can absorb multiple sources at the same time. If three charges are already contained within the sword than Tenmei will go through a process in which it absorbs the attack and then exhausts the oldest stored energy in a non lethal way so that the new energy can be stored.

Keigoku (Punishment): This technique is an ability that redirects the energy stored inside Karma and directs it back at the enemy. Each attack uses a charge inside the blade, turning a charged blue spike back into a black containment unit once more. However Katarombei can increase the power of the attack by releasing more than one charge at a time creating a bigger release. The best part about Keigoku is that once the energy has been stored inside the blade Katarombei can use the energy stored to not just throw back the same attack but can channel the energy to enhance the power of his Hado, Bakudo, or augment his strength and speed slightly.

Itami no Bunkatsu (Pain Split): An ability for when Karma is faced with a physical style Zanpakuto. Because no toll is given to Karma he becomes enraged. Each hit that is landed on Katarombei will give a full three charges to the blade to share the pain with the enemy that had given the wound. On the same note, Katarombei can sacrifice a portion of his reiryoku to feed the blade and give it charges. Like all other energy based Zanpakuto, Katarombei can only muster about two splits per encounter. This equates to six charges a split or 30% of his base reiryoku respectively.

Bakudō Level:
Katarombei is a very skilled warrior when it comes to kido. Because of this he has become exceptionally adept at quick casting as well as support chanting. He cannot dual cast yet but can perform Bakudo up into the 80's
Hadō Level:
Kat is just as skilled with Hado as he is with Bakudo. However due to the more dangerous nature of Hado he has restricted himself from learning the higher level spells. Katarombei is able to produce Hado of rank 70 or below, but unlike Bakudo he has learned to dual cast lower level hado spells to preform complex abilities.
Yusō Chūdō Level:
Kataromebi has only learned the standard travel between worlds, the Senkaimon. However like most shinigami he can freely create his own portal at will with his Zanpakuto.
Chiyu Chūdō Level:
Katarombei can learn up tolevel 60 in healing techniques but has not been taught how to do so yet.
Shien Hōhō Level:
Katarombei is very quick on his feet. He is close to an expert class shunpo and has began to practice Senka.
Hybrid Techniques:

Forbidden Kidō:
Though not forbidden, Katarombei has the uncommon ability to use Noren Mekuri. This illusion stripping ability allows him to unveil objects that would normally be hidden from view with seals and other spells.


─Physical Information─


Hohō Level:
Katarombei is an expert at Hohō style techniques. This puts him on par with almost all lieutenants and even some of the slower captains.
Hakuda Level:
While Kat is a skilled swordsman he lacks complex fighting styles when it comes down to hand to hand combat. Although he can still grapple and throw a mean punch he has no adept training with Hakuda beyond what he practices and was already taught.
Zanjutsu Level:
The single most important skill Katarombei can offer. His swordsmanship is perfect in a sense that he is at a master level. This means that when faced with a sword on sword battle he has the capacity to dance around the battle field in a complete sync with his Zanpakuto. Many would say that he surpasses all others in his position.

Intelligence: Katarombei isn't a tactical genius but he is instinctively smart and is able to think on the fly.
Athletic Skill: Average at best. He is not as tall or buff as other squad members.
Strength: Kat is usually not as strong as other people around his skill level but makes up for it with superior Zanjutsu.
Speed: Kat is very fast. At almost an expert level in shunpo he can quickly close large gaps of distances in seconds.
Agility: With a firm grasp on his reiatsu he can empower himself to jump higher, and move with above average agility to dodge and evade.
Stamina: Katarombei has trained his body to last awhile based on the abilities of his Zanpakuto. He has a strong stamina.
Durability: Kat is average when it comes to durability, however due to his high stamina and endurance he makes up for it.
Endurance: Kat has an immense endurance that comes from the training he undergoes to control the fickle power of his Zanpakuto.
Flexibility: Above average. For a male he is fairly limber because of his weight.

Hey, I'm Rei! I'll be handling this character approval XP

I like it, the ability is balanced and well thought out, I only have a couple of issues with it ^^

1: Itami no Bunkatsu. How much of his own reiatsu must he use in order to give it each charge? 2 percent, 5 percent? etc.

Alright I have taken the time to expand on the three parts of the physical information and gave Itami no Bunkatsu a six charge limit when it comes to the self sacrifice portion.

Quite frankly I knew that the physical info was lacking a little but i was getting lazier as I filled out the end pieces XD.

And thank you, I put a lot of time into trying to balance an absorption/reflection type Zanpakuto and I'm glad you like it ^ ^

Ok, I like it ^^

One little thing though... how much of his own reiatsu must he pain in order to initiate a Itami no Bunkatsu in a battle? It's not something I'm too concerned about, but more as a personal question. I've tried making this sort of Zanpakuto before myself... it's though to balance it correctly. You've done a great job of it though XD

I would say about 20 - 35 percent. Usually when I make a energy based zanpakuto I take into consideration how many times Ichigo can use Getsuga Tensho at what ever level I set my character at. When Ichigo was at a lieutenant grade power he was able to use Getsuga Tensho about four times before exausting himself completely. Given he had no formal combat training I just add a few more and call it good.
