Island bound Ista is not known for pleasant Turnover weather. It being the middle of the rainy season and all. Most sane weyrfolk avoided the choppy, cold ocean waters this time of turn. Yet here they stood, dragons, riders and a curiously brave crowd of onlookers watching the darkening skies as the rules of the day's challenge were broadcasted from the mind of an all too pleased looking brown.

At my bugle. You will enter the water from where you now stand and turning right, proceed to swim to the marked island just south of here. Recoth will mark the beginning and end of your lap around the island. Once you have completed your lap, swim back to this shore. First one to set foot out of the surf will be declared the winner. The smug dragon rumbled deep in his chest. Flying and Between are not allowed and you may not exit the water till you are back on this shore. Should you leave the water prematurely you will be disqualified.

Just barely visible on the distant shore was a bright speck of blue against the dark green backdrop of the island. Blue Recoth trumpeted his excitement at being involved. His rider was carrying and as such, would not subject herself to the bone chilling cold of this dimglowed contest.

As an added incentive for speed, your rider will be going along with you! Finish your lap quickly and get them back to shore. Their skins cannot handle cold like our hides can. Green eyes sparked with mischief, wondering what the other dragons, spurred by their rider's distress, or driven to win, might do with their less than encompassing limitations.

Of course there were safety nets in place, both for the sake of the riders and to prevent cheating. A handful of dragons circled in the air. They would enforce the rules, and be there to rescue any dragon or rider that required aid.

OOC Breakdown
- Sign ups will be open from NOW till Monday at 8pm PST. First Round will start then.
- You may still sign up until the beginning of Round Two but you will start with -10 points rather than 0
- Anyone is welcome to sign up one adult dragon and rider pair. If you do not currently have an adult dragon, you may NPC a dragon of any color up to Bronze.
- Players will roll 1d20 each round. First to reach 200 is the winner.
- Greens get an added bonus of +1 to each roll.
- Rounds will be announced once all dragons entered have rolled OR approximately 12 hours have passed.
- RP is highly encouraged. Each RP'd post gets you 2 'Marks' for use at the end of the Event. Also, PLEASE include the dragon's name and color in each post so we know who's who.

(( Interested players may still sign up! Just note that your character will technically be 'late' in entering the water and you'll be penalized -10. It's really not that much and can be made up quickly so don't fret! ))

The brown in charge waited in silence, a merry gleam reflecting off his hide as he indulged in the feeling of anticipation. Every twitch could be the starting bugle and maybe, just a little, he enjoyed that power and the attention it brought.

Finally though with a mental nudge from his bonded, he tilted his head back and his voice rang out in a deep brassy call, echoed in excitement from the blue on the far shore. ~Get going! Nose first for Recoth before you start your lap of the island! Remember to pass him again before you come back! ~ He rose on his hind legs to watch the dragons enter the water, his wings spread and a second bugle of encouragement urging them onwards.

Adra and brown Porrenth

Adra asked her brown as she double-checked her straps to make sure that everything was secure. she added, but her mental tone was teasing. She knew how vain and over-achieving her dragon was - she tended toward the latter herself often enough.

'Come, mine, let's be off! I wish to show them what we can do,' was the only answer she received as the large brown dragon practically pranced in place. Chuckling, Adra rolled her eyes and smiled at him.

"Alright, let's get this started."
