When I work nights, I usually have a fair bit of downtime. For a while, I used to scribble and doodle to pass the time. After starting with my friend Pixie, I ended up tracing the hands of several of my coworkers, and filling them in with swirls, patterns, and other imagery. Anyway, I decided to share the series of them here.
I'll post them in chronological order.
We can't use paper or pens at work anymore, but who knows? I may end up doing more.

Rachel's (Pixiecutt here on Gaia) incorporates the word "folle", which means "crazy" in French. Phil's favourite phrase got included. I wish I'd coloured it in further. Mélanie. Eileen. ''Sourire'' means smile. Chelsea insists that she has fat hands. razz Mathieu has ENORMOUS hands. He's also a Tim Horton's coffee addict. Sarah left work shortly after this. She wanted to be a stay at home mom. Julie has teeny tiny hands. She's adorable. Irwin's is one of my favourites. I barely knew him, and he only worked with us briefly. Most of my coworkers are in their 20s or early 30s, but he was in his late 50s. He always wore a suit to work. Everyone was kind of scared of Ruby. She was in her 50s, and she was incredibly intimidating because she was so acerbic and no-nonsense. She seemed to have a soft spot for me, though; she told me repeatedly that I reminded her of her son. Anyway, it says ''What kind of ******** is this?'' Kevin is our resident conspiracy theorist and health nut. I like the guy, but I wish he'd wash his hair. He insists that soap is bad for the scalp. Shawn studied kinesiology at St. Francis Xavier (hence the X ring, which is very well-known here). I had a huge crush on him, and may have spent more time on this one than the others. Things between us didn't work out, but he's still my ''running buddy''. smile

Yeah. It helped the time pass more quickly, anyway. Some of them I only made because I didn't want that person to feel left out; those ones were actually more tedious than fun. Especially Mathieu's hand, since there was so much space to fill in, and I didn't really have any ideas. @_@

Oh, how cool. If it were possible for you to trace my hand, and only if you felt inspired, I'd request one, too.

Well, if you were able to trace your hand and save the image, I could work with that. 3nodding

Matasoga Taeryyn Well, if you were able to trace your hand and save the image, I could work with that. 3nodding But what of the inspiration? Have you any, in regard to me? Moreso than I did with most of my coworkers. x3 It's hard to put into words, though. I'd like to try and incorporate a sort of brocade pattern, I do know that much, although I'm not sure why, exactly. I wouldn't want to incorporate anything too geometric. I am open to suggestions, of course.

If you'll pardon my vanity, I must confess that I am far more interested in how others might abstract my presentation without any direct influence from me, using only the bits of myself that I have presented, thus far.

Understandable. 3nodding I have ideas, but I'm not very good at articulating them, since I don't really draw things, exactly, mostly just patterns or designs.

So, while studying for a phonetics quiz, I got kind of bored, and ended up doodling this...er...interpretation...of the vocal organs. Similarly, this is a plain old sketch of a trachea and larynx: This is your larynx on drugs:

Matasoga I can't help but wonder if your Syndrone avatar had anything to do with the inspiration of this piece. x3 I think it might be more accurate to say that it's a distortion of anatomy that I find fascinating in general (I've used similar items on Gaia, even), and it may be tied to my fascination with phonetics.
