Personality: A fiery free-spirit who lives her life to the fullest. She has never met a challenge she was willing to back down from. This is what led to her losing a wager and agreeing to have foals. She is not the most sentimental or maternal of mares, but she will be in their lives and try to be as good a mother as she is able, even though she will not stay Ailean once they are grown.

Personality:He is arrogant and self-absorbed. It takes a great deal to not only get this stallion's attention, and even more to keep it. Aces was fortunate, or unfortunate depending on the point of view, to catch his eye and intrigue him enough to lead to the ons which lead to the birth of these three special blankets. He will be as good a father as his nature allows, viewing these girls as his special treasures.

Meaning/Origin:
~Checkmate - A position in which a player's king is in check and the player has no legal move (i.e cannot move out of check). A player whose king is checkmated loses the game.
~Ante - A forced bet required, in some types of poker, of all players before the hand begins.
Alignment: Neutral
Personality: Poker-faced; No matter how upset she gets, Ante keeps her emotions off her face. She is excellent at gambling and has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
Plot Ideas:
1. Uneasy Feelings - Ante senses some tension between her parents. Does she call them out on it, ask someone else, or simply keep it to herself?
2. Bet You... - Ante gets into a bet with her sisters about something (maybe making friends, kissing a colt, doing something their parents forbade them to do, etc.) Will Ante go along with it, and if she does, will she win?
3. I was WHAT?! - When she's older, Ante discovers the circumstances of her birth. How will she react to the fact that not only do her parents not love each other but she and her sisters were the result of a lost bet?
4. A New Kind of Gamble - Ante's been gambling since she knew how to, but how will she deal with a type of gambling game that could drastically change her future--love?
5. Check - Ante meets an Azrien that sweeps her off her hooves. What happens if they don't return her feelings? What if they do? And will they be able to read her poker face?
6. Checkmate - Ante finds a soulmate in an Azrien (whether the same Azrien from #5 or not) who loves her just as much as she loves them. How will her family react to her choice? Will ties be strained between family members as a result or will they accept her decision without so much as a second glance?
7. Luck of the Draw? - Ante adored her mother, but she still felt something was lacking. When faced with children of her own, will she be able to prevent that void from appearing in them?
Anything Else? : Part of the reason why I gave Ante her name is because the definitions together could be a pun on the reason behind her birth.
