Cais stepped into the ring unknowing who his opponent was. Perhaps it was arrogance or just that he truly wanted a challenge, but he hadn't been watching many of the matches so knew very little about most of the competitors. The crowd was buzzing from what he could hear and he took a glance to the seats fuller than they had been before. He was certain his match wasn't one of the most popular, but shrugged it off as he waited for his opponent.

Unaware as he was he couldn't help feeling accomplished somehow by making it into the semi-finals. Every real-life experience he had fighting never did work out to his advantage, but here it was different - calming even. Rolling back a shoulder he heard a soft pop and smiled at the sensation.

The smile was quickly gone as his opponent had entered the ring.

Cais blinked with a stare, tilting his head to one side before moving his body down into his usual starting point. Before he had the girl who seemed to make an impression immediately, but this time there was nothing - he couldn't even read him.

Well this will be interesting at least. He thought with a grin, then waited for the go-ahead.

Never Crazy

There was only calm within him, even after his last opponent had had a brief opportunity to hurt him. His skin stung, it was true, but the rigorous training to which his kin had subjected him made it unlikely that he would falter over something so simple. That was what he would call it: simple pain. The kind that could be erased with a series of careful breaths, with focus.

He was basically a machine, by this point. Conditioned carefully by his kin to be ready for battle. He took his time to stretch, to prepare for battle, before he took the same embroidered handkerchief out of his dobok which he'd had last time. It was abnormally large for what one would generally consider a handkerchief. Every action Rashidyan completed was done with care and time, as if there was no hurry, and nothing could change that.

As he unfolded the handkerchief, it revealed his gleaming metal net; he pressed the handkerchief lightly against his heart, brought it to his lips, and put it back inside his dobok. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, I suspect," Rashidyan greeted his opponent. His face offered no such sentiment, however: it offered no sentiment at all. Just emptiness.

He prepared himself, gripping the net in his two gloved hands. He was handsome, perhaps, but the way that a blade's edge might be considered attractive: his features were harsh, his eyes cold and calculating. He seemed to be so far off.

Cais watched him carefully, taken aback by his entirely calm demeanor. The handkerchief had caught his eye and he blinked, turning his head the other way just to see what it was holding. A net? Cais blinked. "Uh, yeah, you... too." The fighter was confused, not even sure if the guy was supposed to be there.

When he moved into preparation it was a different story and he found his body move into a sharpness of its own while watching the other. It was strange, a near complete transformation - save for the emptiness behind his eyes. What could cause such a thing?

BONG!

The sound of the starting gong rang out and Cais began a quick movement into attack, the blades on his hands out. It wasn't a move meant to take him down, or even cause damage. He'd heard stories in the past of fighting nets but never paid them any mind. This time he at least was planning to be smarter; to see what sort of skill came with such a unique weapon.

Taking his right arm back, he jabbed forward towards his chest, watching his opponent carefully. The boy gave no sign in his eyes as to what he might do. That's dangerous. Cais thought, still making his way into the attack.

Never Crazy

There would be a reason as to why his opponent had won his previous match, and Rashidyan was cautious, determining what that might be. He seldom did anything showy, even in responding to an opponent's moves. Just the minimum. Rashidyan generally avoided breaking a sweat in general. The second the gong rang, however, his opponent seemed ready to close the gap between them and make contact.

Gently, carefully, Rashidyan slipped sideways to avoid the blade and jab in general. He raised his metal net up and twisted it, preparing to trap the blade should it come close to the netting. His expression was still blank, and he was eerily silent. This was still Rashidyan's analysis phase of combat, before he felt the need to do anything.

He was generally quite slow to act, just like this.

Legend of Lunaria

It was far too eerie just how calm his opponent was and Cais found himself leaping back, away from the twisting net. He'd gotten close enough to see exactly what could be done with it, but what help that was to the young fighter, he wasn't certain. He stared at the other, moving back into a defensive position. Part of himself was kicking that he hadn't bothered to watch this fighter before, but there was nothing for it now.

For a moment he thought to himself, watching the shining net carefully. Surely any blade caught in it would get stuck or dragged away. Staring at his gauntlets made him blink. If they were to get caught, then he'd get caught along with it. This wasn't going to be like his first bought where getting close had been the distinct advantage, this time in order to get close it would take a bit more cunning.

Moving his arms where the blades were slightly turned in he looked to the thickened area of the gauntlet. Maybe if I... He had a plan, but wasn't sure if it was going to work or not. Taking a running start, he lunged at the opponent with only the gauntlets out as if to ram into him with them.

The fine wire of the net would slice wherever it touched; that was why Rashidyan wore his chain link gloves. Beneath those, his skin was criss-crossed with scars: in order to train, he had been made to handle the metal net barehanded. It was part of what made him the way he was. The net had become part of him, moved how he did.

The only drawback to his weapon, so far, had been its poor range. Although it could be cast out, it moved more slowly and he preferred to have it up close, with him. Like a best friend.

Rashidyan did not expect his opponent to appear to ram him: his eyes narrowed, and internally he punished himself for having failed to predict this given his opponent's footwork and muscle movement. However, it was too late for that now. Rashidyan could not avoid the blow, but he could respond as he took it. He leaned his body to lessen the pain, and at the same time drew the net taut so that he could wrap it around his opponent's limb given any opportunity, the wire making a hissing sound as he manipulated it quickly.

Cais felt like a waving crashing against a rock, but it had done what was expected of it. He would of smirk, had he not already known what was coming. It was a sting, burning and sinking into his flesh as his right arm was taken by the net, wrapped around even to his flesh where he could feel it digging down. Gritting his teeth, he stared back at the opponent.

Despite the agonizing pain, Cais was smiling at him. "Thanks!" He said, pulling against the net with such a force to begin to pull his opponent with him. Blood dripped from his arm as he continued to move back, pulling the net - and its holder, across the ring. If Cais had any sort of strength it was in his arms. From his choice of weapons to work, his arms easily moved the other Lunarian.

As the netting pulled tighter Cais had slowed, leaving a spot open to jump at him if the need be. It was a stupid, reckless plan of sorts which was working thus far. Almost there, almost.... He heaved a big pull.

Rashidyan was pulled completely off balance. He refused to relinquish his net, and as he was falling, he nearly looked surprised. And then, a split second before his head connected with something quite firm and he was knocked unconscious, he actually smiled. The unfriendly, calm young man smiled at his opponent, and managed to say: "The pleasure was all mine."

Losing was not the end of his existence. If nothing else, Rashidyan was impressed by his opponent's ability to fight even while being shredded by the metal net. If he hadn't been knocked unconscious in that moment, he would have proceeded to tell his opponent that very thing. It was impressive. It was beautiful. And Rashidyan understood why the young man had made it this far.

Perhaps, although he valued his calm nature and stoic style, there was something to be said of the power of passion. Reckless abandon, and it seemed to have served his opponent (mostly) well.

His body was giving out before his spirit was, but at least he managed to bash his opponent over the head as he'd gotten close enough. There was something in his opponents eyes at the moment he fell, some sort of admiration. Cais stared at the netting digging into his flesh and the blood pouring down and began to unwind it, tossing it back to Rashidyan.

There was something to be said about him, as he was the only one Cais had ever run into which used such a weapon. His opponent had been cunning and focused, something that Cais generally wasn't. Rashidyan had incredibly skill. "Deadly skill." Cais said as he thought aloud, suddenly hissing in pain as he held his arm closer to himself. At the moment he was named victor Cais made a small bow towards his opponent as he was taken away.

Seeing the different fighting style made Cais want to sit and watch the remainder of the battles. He knew already he'd gotten pretty lucky thus far in only that his opponents hadn't expected him to be so reckless and straight-forward. Now he held his arm close to him and began to limp to the medic tent, stopping only once to wave at the crowd.

Suddenly it had hit him as he slowly made his way across the grassy area, blood pouring from the cuts on his arm. He'd won, he'd actually won. Now. he thought as the medics rushed over to him. "One more." He said with a smile.
