He’d gone to the job faire, just like every other time. Many people looking for servants, working men, a few looking to buy contracts, people. Slavery might not be legal, but if you looked in the shadows long enough you could see what happened. Just like if you went into the shadows, they often would welcome you with open arms.

Marcus was no stranger to illegal work. He avoided it more often than not, but for the right price he was like any other man. You could buy any man for the right price as the saying went. And while his price might have been high, Marcus still had a price. More gold than he could hold in his fist if he could kill a man. Said man would be traveling from Oldcastle to the south, didn’t know what town. Meaning that he would have to track the man or guess and hope he guessed right.

Still, Marcus managed, heading out from Oldcastle after the caravan easy enough, the time he spent traveling through snow and foliage finally being put to use. The rumors of the wolves didn’t bother him. Blood Runner was a guardian, and the hired hand trusted the buck to have his back. A buck that knew how to stay hidden in the shadows while Marcus moved in the woods towards his prey.

For Yusri, he was able to obtain his given hit via mail. Being relatively well known in the upper class by those who were sleazy had it's perks. That meant getting referred, and thus gaining more clients... and in turn more profit.

It was an easy enough gig, one he'd done plenty of times before. Tracking was something he had to learn to hone at a young age as well, thus he was well adept to traveling for long distances. He walked silently along the darkening path just down the same direction his unknown competition was going. The shadows were naturally his ally, but he did not call upon their assistance at this time. No not yet. In fact, he traveled boldly on a main toad so as to seem less suspicious than he truly was. At his side was Almote, his recent new addition to the little family he'd started to grow, the stag mimicking the same sort of demeanor as the assassin. Glowing white eyes would casually glance about, taking note to subtle shifts here and there. They were getting closer to their target, after walking for such a long time. The assassin kept well cloaked, his oversized hood veiling his face, and casting a shadow over it,hidden daggers discreetly placed along his person, that were easily accessible by him.

Ah but it was time, soon... so very soon. Yusri slowly ventured into the woods himself, keeping aware of what was before his path that his feet would step upon, Almote doing the same. He could practically smell their target~

A crack of the leaves, Marcus’s head snapped around, looking for a source. Just a small hare, He glared at the creature before it darted off. It was natural to be jumpy he told himself. He’d been sent to kill a man after all. You didn’t want to get caught and you didn’t want to have your target escape. Two of the worst things that could happen. Mentally berating the rabbit for making any noise at all, Marcus slowly got closer, the target’s camp not far off. He’d once heard that only assassins had targets, because they could miss. But ‘wetboys’ of the east only had ‘deaders’, as those they were to kill always ended up dead.

But that was just a rumor, and Marcus was no ‘wetboy’. He was just a hired hand who knew how to move in shadows and brush. He wasn’t special. Aside from Blood Runner having chosen him of course. Another crack, this time from the guardian. He sniffed the air, looking to Marcus then to the distance. Something was near, but he didn’t know what. A mental note that only made Marcus nervous.

As he crept closer to the target’s camp another figure, cloaked, came into view. Staring, Marcus wasn’t sure. No ally of the man Marcus had been sent to kill would be lurking in the woods so-
Blood Runner hadn’t any idea either. A slow look from Marcus to the stranger he nodding toward’s the camp’s direction. ‘What was his intention, sneaking about the woods?’

Creeping with as much discreetness as possible, Yusri kept close to thick trunked tree's, while his eyes kept sharp and alert, but mostly geared ahead of him. Almote, being a creature of the forest, was easily able to mask his own steps just a bit better than his chosen, thus gliding through the woods without any issue, his tan hide assisting in his blinding in; though those glowing white eyes were of no help in the cause. But perhaps they could pass for being just a reflection of the coming moon, or a trick of some sort of lightning.

As the pair grew closer to their target, the stealth was amped up, and steps were slower, more cautious and placed accordingly. Even ducking low to avoid being seen by anyone at his own eye level, Yusri used what ever coverage the foliage could provide for him. However... when he got close enough, he noticed that he and his companion were not alone... someone else was here... and that someone knew it. Upon encroaching just paces from the target and the little camp that'd been set up, his trained eyes spotted another... who seemed to be in the same sort of mode he was.

A spy, perhaps? or a bandit? staring at his competition, a grin lifted at the corner of his lips in question, while Almote took to keeping a bit more distance, though his gaze was focused on the foreign pair as well.
