Alright, so 3 days ago, at 6am, my dad runs into my room tellin' me that my one cat, Lucie, was outside. Lucie is a very small and shy cat who is scared of almost everything, and she's also an indoor cat. If you open up a door to the outside, she runs from it. Somehow, though, she had gotten outside the night before and been out all night.
When my dad had tried to get her, she was so terrified that she just bolted into the woods near my house. When I went outside, my parents had to go to work, but I walked around and in the woods, calling for Lucie.
And then, to my horror, I heard the noise of an animal screaming for it's life, which was then cut off abruptly. I ran towards the noise, but couldn't see anything. After searching the woods for 3 hours in a shirt and crocs, I returned to my house and sat on the porch, calling her over and over again. At this point, I heard a great horned owl in the same direction that I can heard the scream. Great horned owls are known for getting cats...easily.
For the next 3 days I spent my days outside, searching and calling, and my nights awake, going outside every hour to call and leave food. After three days, my whole family was convinced that an owl had gotten her, and she was no more.
Last night, however, at 3am, I went out on my hourly call. I called and called, but there was no answer and no sign of Lucie. Then, in the distance, I saw some small reflective eyes. I figured it was the possum I saw an hour before, eating all the cat food I had left out. Just to make sure, though, I quickly went inside and got my flashlight.
When I returned outside, the eyes were gone. One last night, I called Lucie's name. This time, though, I heard a very small squeak in reply, Lucie's squeak. And there, at the end of my driveway, was Lucie, alive and well!
When I got Lucie back inside, I told my parents and my dad actually wept with joy. I was shakin' with happiness for hours. whee
So yeah, my whole family and I have been having a very bad last couple of months, and this was about to be the tippin' point for me. However, I finally had myself a little miracle!
