At the rate she was going Elleth knew that she was going to bleed out before she ever reached home. Sure electric burns didn't bleed but the wounds left behind from claw and fang and sharp scale certainly did. Not to mention the few times her blade had glanced against her own flesh didn't help much. If any. And oh was that a rainbow?
Elleth groaned and slapped herself on one of her already bruised cheeks and suppressed the squeak of pain that wanted escape as the result. Yep, that was indeed a rainbow. The last few times she'd seen one the burst of pain had quickly cleared away illusion and replaced it with a lightheadedness that had lingered for a while. But no, there was a tang to the air that Elleth had failed to notice before, one that just barely overrode the cloying scent of copper that clogged her nose. It was the scent of salt, freedom, and the promise of a long a** journey back home.
Elleth was thrilled. Really.
She wasn't thrilled at the sight of yet another Kiandri sniffing around her boat the moment she was within sight of it. She swore, uncaring if she'd just ruined her chance at a sneak attack. If that beast so much as sneezed on her boat, she was going to chop it up, somehow, and bring it's entire skeleton back home to mount on the wall of the dojo. Or walls. Perhaps the entire skeleton would be too much, just one of the femurs would fill one wall with enough room left over to hang her entire wardrobe on come laundry day.
Great the blood loss was really messing with her, she was rambling in her own mind about what she was going to do, when in reality she was just standing there, swaying like an intoxicated buffoon. With a grunt of effort Elleth hefted her blade and threw it, then topped head over heels down the sand dune. There was a pained squeal then silence as Elleth's world finally stopped spinning though the familiar black spots were back and quite happy to start dancing in her vision again.
It took more effort than she was proud to admit to stand, even more to stagger her way over to the smoldering dragon corpse to retrieve her blade. If her pride wasn't already beaten into the ground and just barely recovering, she would have cackled with glee as she wild toss had actually managed to sever the dragons spine. But seeing as it was a dragon that was barely out of the shell, it was nothing to boast about. Still a Soul Orb was a Soul Orb and that thing was going to eat her boat. She just knew it.
So it was with little extra fanfare that Elleth was finally able to the desert behind. For now.
