It was another day and yet it felt like yesterday... about a month ago. The soft brown leopard lay quietly in her tree, awaiting the family that had left her behind to come back for her. Occasionally she would notice the family of birds near her, sometimes she chose to even speak with them. They made the time less depressing, but now even they had left. Taking flight with their children towards a new land.
And there she was, alone. Again. Waiting. Normally Mehta didn't let it bother her. Rather, she occupied her time by keeping the tree spruced, the lands below her green and lush. But lately... lately she had been bored. Absolutely no one had crossed the lands near her in a long time.
Emerald eyes flicked up from the ground where she was staring and out towards the lands. It was then she noticed something. Movement. Not food either... not this was another feline!
Suddenly her heart started pounding and she about fell out of her tree attempting to get to the ground fast enough. Mehta wasn't going to miss out on a meeting of someone new. Not when it had been so long since she spoken to another creature.
Picking herself up from the ground that she was now standing, the leopard rushed at the figure. Not really taking into account that perhaps they wouldn't be the friendliest. No, all creatures were friendly in some account in her book.

He hadn't been travelling long, just long enough to get the anxiousness out of his system. He was getting a little stir crazy sitting around waiting on his children to visit. He knew it would be a while before he could see them, their Mother's pride required that they be trained before hand. But it didn't help to make him any less excited than he already was. Usually he would at least see Chanda around the pride's borders, but she must be spending time with her mate lately, as she hadn't been around much either. All of this alone time was beginning to get to him, he just wanted what he'd always wanted, a family. Sighing to himself, he hadn't even thought to take in his surroundings. The leopardesses scent wasn't something he caught onto either. In fact, it wasn't until she was literally right on top of her, that he realized what was happening. At first he froze, not realizing what had just happened. But as his focus cleared it all became clear. A leopard. His fur quickly stood on edge, and his claws sheathed and unsheathed into the dirt at his feet. She was a female so obviously she wasn't any real threat, but it eased his mind none to know that. "Who do you think you are bumping into me like that? Do you think its OK to just run up to anyone you meet?"His tone was rough, almost as if he were lecturing one of his own cubs. Though with her, it held a hint of anger and hatred. How dare she think he would welcome such a feline into his territory - what was she? Crazy?

"Yes!" The leopard exclaimed, not quite picking up on the angry tone in his voice. No, she was a bit too excited to properly read his lips and just being around someone new was making her happier than she thought possible. It was another living creature!!!
"I am SO happy you came. I have been so lonely. Oh please, what is your name?" She stared at him expectantly, waiting to read the lips of the other. Her tone was loud, a touch annoyingly so, but she really couldn't help that. If she was too quiet, she couldn't make out the words she spoke. Creating... awkward conversations at best.
"I live over there!" nudging her head off towards the beautifully thriving tree across the plains. Her emerald eyes sparkling as she looked the lion over.
His markings were rather interesting, beautiful in fact. The faded brown spots reminding her of some of her own kind. It was awesome, he seemed nice enough to her. At least, right now.

Well this was ... weird? Was weird an accurate way to describe an unwanted conversation where the other party just wouldn't leave? Eh, if it wasn't he didn't really care to find the right word. Instead he merely stood there, staring at this strangely excited leopard, the entire time his body steaming with hatred. She was happy he'd come? What? Had she been expecting him or something? For a moment he didn't really care about her species, he was more concerned for her mental health. But then, she seemed otherwise normal, except y'know the whole leopard thing. He cringed slightly at her overly loud words, why was she doing that? He was at a complete loss for words, something he didn't find himself doing often. She was just so strange to him, loud and excitable, despite his obvious distaste for her. "My name? Why do you need that? Its not like you know me or anything!" The thought of his own words made his mouth scrunch up in disgust. As if he would ever find himself befriending a leopard! Pulled out of his own thoughts for a moment he glanced over at her signal. What? She lived in a tree? Stupid leopards. Rolling his eyes slightly, he turned his attention back to her. "You ... shouldn't just tell strangers where you live.." He shuffled his mane uncomfortably to hide his expressions from the female. Why was he being so nice to her? Well .. it wasn't nice, but it was sure better than anything he'd ever said to a leopard before. He couldn't figure it out, but there was this vibe with her, that just made him feel weird inside.

As the emerald-eyed leopardess watched the lion, her ears drooped. She had been paying attention that time to his words, hopeful for a name, yet the lion seemed almost... upset?
"I-I...." Her eyes glistened a little as she stared at her feet. "...Sorry." She wasn't used to this. A sudden gloom filling the leopards features completely. She was so hopeful too. Perhaps she smelled funny? Maybe she was too... too loud. Or perhaps she needed to give him her name first?!
"OH! I was rude, I am sorry, I am Mehta... Could I know your name now?" She smiled hopefully. So hopeful to make a friend. Anyone to just give her attention for a little bit. She didn't want to be lonely anymore.
And then he lectured her about letting him know where she lived. Her own reaction was to c**k her head. Not quiet sure what he was getting at. He couldn't visit her had he not known where he lived.
"...Why? You can't visit if you don't know." Smiling softly she watched him, tail flicking now and again. Happy, content even to be around another. Then as if a switch was flicked she frowned, remember just how long it had been since she had company.

Despite his tone and facial expressions, this leopardess pushed on, determined to better get to know him.. By this point, he needed to reassurance that something was indeed wrong with her mentally. But the more he stood there, the more vulnerable she seemed. The more he just wanted to find out why she was this way. His claws dug into the dirt and his teeth ground against one another. Every fiber of his being knew he shouldn't get close, but his heart told him a different story. She was vulnerable, alone, and ... oddly sweet and innocent. Much like his own daughters, who he would soon be meeting for the first time. THE FEELS. Oh man the feels he was having for this leopardess, her strange ways were waking up feelings he knew he shouldn't have. Giving an exasperated breath, he dug his claws even deeper into the dirt at this feet. Bracing himself for the traitorous act he was about to perform. "Drakma." That was it. It was all he could muster, and what do you know, he hadn't died in the process! But his heart did feel a little heavy, whether it was his guilt of being a traitor or his sympathy for this strange female, he really wasn't sure. With each word she spoke he became more and more intrigued about her. Why did she act this way? What was her motive? Surely she had a motive, no one could be that innocent ... could they? His cubs were, he just knew it. He knew how innocent they had been at their birth, Chanda had told him that much. His bitter scowl turned slightly upwards at those thoughts, and he tried to convey it to the leopardess before him. "You're right, I guess I can't." Taking a quick glance to her tree he noticed how it thrived within an area that it really shouldn't. Peculiar .... "It is a very nice tree, how exactly does it do that?" Referring of course to its obvious glory in this otherwise dry and bland place.
