WE ARE HALLOWEEN

gaia_star LOCATION: Outside Amityville (in the campus areas)
gaia_star STATUS EFFECT: There is a mandatory student dorm check this weekend, and all teachers have been asked to take a look, to make sure student dorms are clean and well uh, not hiding anything too contraband. All is good until Marosa happens upon Selene in his room. He has no clue about the mandatory student dorm check, being new to Amityville.
gaia_star BONUS CONDITION: Marosa thinks Selene is actually another student spying on him and gets paranoid. Selene is too petrified to explain she's a teacher. Marosa attempts to bring her to Arel's office for detention for intrusion of privacy and space.

On the one hand, Professor Selene felt it was a very good idea that Amityville was stepping up their security efforts. She felt that it was of increasing importance to be sure the students were as safe as possible, in these ever dangerous times.

On the other hand, she did not remember signing any contract that dictated that it would be she, a professor, who would be doing the work of a security detail. She was not psychologically equipped to go through a student's dorm without their permission. Didn't the faculty already know that? How many times would she have to be sent to the nurse's office in a faint just for the mere idea of making a student uncomfortable or unhappy? Was this all some cruel joke played on her by the hands of fate, who seemed to enjoy watching her suffer?

She checked some of the shadows quickly before continuing her very careful inspection of the new students dorm. His name was Marosa, or so the file said; and she hadn't met him once. Yet here she was, going through all of his personal belongings - well it just wasn't right! She let out a little huff of distress, her cheeks flushing with color as she toed a small pile of clothing, hoping not to see anything inappropriate -

But the truth was, all of this was inappropriate. Her being there was inappropriate! What was this school thinking, really!

It had been far too long of a day.

After the fight with the dragon, it seemed that the fey made more enemies than friends. He'd acted as best he could, thought he could help, but in the end the Gancanagh curse had won out to be self-sufficient and not helpful at all.

Trudging to his room with his wings fluttering pathetically behind him, the redhead leaned against his door and breathed in. His room would be safe. He opened the door and walked in, breathing the familiar scents, eyes landing as usual on his prized picture, then shifting to the rest of the room.

His room... was being occupied by another person.

The door shut behind him, and the faerie stood with his wings splayed out, fingers curling into his palms. Was this some kind of sick prank or something?

Who are you and why are you here were stuck in his head, but what came out was "Who are you here!?" which made him pause, then press his fingers against the bridge of his nose. Jack.

"Oi see a student spyin' on me," He hissed, not at all in the mood for something like this. "Tell me, did oi really piss off th' lot o' ye? Jes wot issit tha' oi did wrong!?" He was getting paranoid, and a paranoid fey was no good. Marosa realized he needed to calm down, but this person was in his Jacking room.

Crossing his arms, he waited for a reply, wings vibrating in an agitated manner.

When the door opened, Selene had finally mustered the nerve to start looking under the bed. She was on her knees, bent just slightly, and she froze in this position, her eyes widening in horror. Nononono they had promised, they had promised-

"Who are you here!?"

Selene wanted to burst into tears right then and there on the floor.

Instead, she pushed herself up and turned, her shoulders hunched forward in a dismissive position as she ducked her head shyly. Say something, Selene. She heard a voice in her head demanding of her. Tell the little student who you are. Demand his respect! Show him who is boss!

She showed him who was boss, all right. By staying completely silent, bobbing her head in shame, and hiding her blushing face in her hands. Eventually, a sound did manage to come out of her - and it was a tiny little squeak.

Caught red-handed. Marosa glared at her, his own face turning red with anger as he strode over to her, sorely tempted to just grab her hand and drag her off to the head office. Didn't this warrant detention or something?

Not yet. He wanted answers first.

"Answer mae question. Who are ye, and why are ye in mae room?" The Gancanagh's words were clipped and broken with his anger, shoulders still shaking at the blatant invasion of his privacy.

Oh, now the young man was angry. Selene did not deal well with anger, nor did she deal well with being confronted. Her throat closed up, and her lips opened and closed soundlessly as she tried to answer his questions. Her eyes opened up as wide as saucers, staring up at him in absolute horrific shock. What could she say? She wanted to try and explain the situation, but would he even listen? She longed for the days when she was back behind a desk, tucked away in a hidden corner of her precious library where nobody could bother her unless she sent for them. Her entire decision to come to this school had been a horrendous mistake, all based upon this one terrifying moment!

Well, perhaps that was a little melodramatic of a decision, but at the moment it certainly felt the truth.

Her head started to shake left and right, violently. She was shaking her head no, but it looked more like she was having a seizure than anything else. Her hands rose up, palms faced forward in a sign of surrender. She just wanted to leave, and be on her way, and if she could just make her throat work then perhaps she could tell him..!

Her mouth opened one final time, and she mustered up every ounce of courage and strength that her little body could muster.

"Sssssssssssssssssss...."

She was done for.

Oh Jack, Marosa had no idea how to take this, but he jumped slightly at the hissing, his eyes closing as he inhaled. "Oi tink we need tae go down tae the office," The fey stated darkly, arms crossing unhappily again. He didn't want to touch her, but he would if he had to.

The faerie was unhappy with the predicament, and his eyes darted over to his picture of Muirin, and then back to Selene. "Oi suppose ye dinnae touch anythin'," He muttered, noticing how everything was still in place.

What was she looking for, then...? Staring hard at her, Marosa attempted to think of just what she possibly could have been looking for, but the thought escaped his mind. He really had no idea.

The office? THE OFFICE! Yes, yes that was a fine idea, everything would be straightened out if she could just get the boil to the office, and someone that wasn't her could just explain the situation to the young man. Then, she wouldn't be so embarrassed. And maybe she could get a word out. A real word. Instead of a hissing sound.

Her head ducked in embarrassment, and her hands clasped in front of her, as she shyly nodded her head in agreement. She still couldn't look the poor boil in the eye, nor could she manage a word with the way her throat had closed up and her face had turned all sorts of shades of red.

For once, she hoped this particular student did not take her class.

Oh, good, she agreed. Marosa walked over to open the door, walking out with her towards the office. He was not keen on leaving her alone in his room - he didn't know her at all, and had no idea what she was up to.

The faerie just might have been slightly paranoid.

Intent on the office, he walked briskly there, glancing back every so often just to make sure that she was following. It was no secret that he was rather disgruntled.

Selene was out the door as quickly as possible, looking all too anxious to get out of his room and to safer settings. She couldn't walk fast, which meant her steps were very slow, and careful, but she looked as though she wished she could hurry. Instead, whenever she picked up the pace, she tripped over a bit of carpet, or her own tail, or a feather on the floor, or nothing at all. Selene was off her feet more than she was on it. For all the times the woman seemed to fall, the amount of bruises she sported under that long dress must be impressive.

But as soon as they made it out of the dorms, Selene realized that she was free. A thought occurred - why go to the office to explain herself, when she could just... leave now? The boil couldn't stop her, she was a teacher! What could he do! There was a demand for respect here!

Not that he knew that, but in her mind, it was just obvious.

So she slowed, and slowed, and eventually, with her unblinking eyes focused nervously on him, started to inch and inch towards the right..

If Marosa hadn't been looking back every so often, he wouldn't have noticed as easily. The first moment she started inching, he jerked and reached out to grab her hand, too angry to care about touching other people.

"Ye agreed," Came his reply, and he tugged. They were almost there.

The faerie wanted this taken care of. Not only was she snooping in his room, but he didn't know what she was looking for. He was already worried about someone out to get him because of his stupid actions with the dragon, but he thought he'd cleared it up.

Now? He didn't know what to think.

Caughted! Selene let out a tiny yelp when he grabbed her, and tugged her forward with him. At first, her arm felt an odd, tingly sensation. It traveled up into her, and for a moment, her struggles ceased and she just let him take her wherever he wanted. But her rusty, tiny little heart still belonged to one very deceased boil, and Marosa's abilities failed to make any real impression on her other than being tingly and distracting her from running away.

She shook out of it, and whined, finally managing to say actual words.

"Pleaassssse, let me go, I won't come back to your room, I promisssssse."

No amount of lectures would make her do this task again. Not even a ~bonus~.

The damage was already done, but Marosa was far too kind at her words. He stopped in the hallway, his shoulders slumping as he stared at her. "Oi'll let ye go if'n ye kin answer one question." He kept a tight grip on her wrist, staring at her with muted golden eyes, depression written all over his face.

He wanted to know. He didn't know if he should be on his guard, or if it was a different situation entirely, but he'd wait to hear her out, if she was able to make any words at all.

Marosa wanted to hear it from her. Why was she there in the first place? The faerie couldn't wrap his mind around it, and it was obvious he was searching for an answer as he stared into her eyes.

"Why did ye go in me room?"

Selene was oh so conflicted. She felt the thrill of hope when he gave her a chance at freedom, but she couldn't help but notice just how sad he looked. He truly was tortured, the poor dear. She pouted, her head bowing as guilty eyes looked up at him through her bangs.

The question wasn't a hard one. Now that she could speak again, she found her tiny, whispered voice was ready to offer some sort of answers. Why was she in the room? Why that was simple..

"It's.. my.. job." The soft, hushed sound of her voice was halted and slow. "But.. never again."

Even if she had to quit.. she was not going to make another student as sad as this one was. The school was wrong for putting them in this position! Just.. just wrong!

"What do ye mean, it's yer job?" Marosa didn't understand, but his grip loosened. "What kind of student are ye? What year?" The faerie just wanted this to be over, and wanted to go back into his room and curl up and not face the world for a while.
