Akhana stuck close to her sister as they went through the forest. They were being traveling with another padawan named Abha. Akhana didn't know her to well, though outside her family she didn't know too many other padawans. For the most part she kept to herself, even when some of the youngling teachers did there best to try and get her out of her shell. She didn't feel comfortable around others and preferred the company of her family over anyone else.
That said, she wasn't going to allow this trait to control her. She struggled being separated from her siblings and being in a clan without them, but she managed. Missions were harder though. It was stressful trying to understand how to communicate with others she didn't know. She was just thankful that the master that gave them this mission put Lore in it as well. It gave her some sense of security.
Her eyes went to the package that Abha held. She wondered what was inside it. The package was meant for a ward who lived near the outskirts of the pride. It would have been rude to ask what was inside so she didn't ask. It didn't stop her from being curious though.
“I wonder what is inside?” Her quiet voice said meekly, her eyes watching the road in front of her now. There were lots of rocks that were unstable and she wanted to keep an eye out for any that could be dangerous to step on.

Abha was on her first mission to deliver a package with two young padawans. Concentrating on the ground in front of her one of the cubs who she had met, Akhana said something in a soft voice. Stumbling slightly at the sudden noise she looks over at Akhana, "Hmm?" It had been quiet after receiving the package and Abha had figured that that's how the rest of the trip would be.

Needless to say, Lore was fairly happy to be on a mission. To the Ward lands no less! She came out here as often as she could to visit her father Warray, so she knew the area pretty well! As if things couldn't be any better, her sister Akhana was also with her. Lore didn't get to see her siblings all to often anymore, due to being in different Youngling Clans, and she missed them all dearly. The only thing that made that pain in her heart lessen was the knowledge that they were all learning to help people and when they were older, they could see each other all they wanted.
Focusing on the mission again, she watched the trail and made sure they were staying on track. She took a quick glace backward when Akhana spoke and spared a look over at their fellow Padawan that was accompanying them. Lore would admit that she didn't know much about the older Hyena besides her name, Abha. But she couldn't be so bad if she wanted to be a Jedi.
She looked back ahead but spoke up when Abha asked what her soft spoken sister had said. "She said that she wondered what is inside the package." and quite frankly so did she. "The Healers recently got a shipment in, so I wonder if it's an allotment for a Ward healer." Lore had been spending spare parts of her time around the Healers Ward as of late. Their work fascinated her and seemed to call to something in her blood.

Akhana nodded her head when her sister spoke. “I hope no one is hurt.” she said, her ears pulling back. She didn't want to see anyone hurt, sick or injured. When others were in pain, it caused her stomach to become upset. “Maybe they need it just in case something happens, that way they are prepared.” Her voice was still quite as she spoke, but she felt more comfortable with her sister near her.
As she walked she thought she heard a stick branch break. It wasn't uncommon for branches to break. But this one was louder then normal. “Did you hear that?” She paused for a moment to try and hear something out of the ordinary. Then suddenly a small branch landed on her head. “Ow!” She cried, rubbing her head. There was a small chuckle in the trees.
“I think we should keep moving.” Akhana didn't want to get involved in any conflicts. If there was someone who was throwing things at her, she didn't want to anger them anymore then they were already.

Abha thought a bit and hoped that it was just a restock of an item and that it wasn't needed for an emergency. It would be delivered though she'd make sure of that. A loud snap drew Abha back to where they were. Her ears twitched trying to find a source when she suddenly heard Akhana cry out. Abha could feel her fur bristle, why would someone throw a stick at someone who hasn't done anything to warrant it?
She heard Akhana but couldn't bring herself to stay silent. Abha looked upward and hollered, "Hey! That wasn't funny at all!" Looking for any movement, "Apologize!"

"I'm pretty sure that if it was an emergency, they would have sent someone a lot quicker then us. The Healers Ward has been pretty quite as of late thankfully." She did her best to try and calm the unease she could hear in her sister's voice, as well as Abha's. And she wasn't lying. The peace treaty had significantly lowered the Healers work load- they had enough down time to even teach her a thing or two! So if there had been a crisis in the Wardlands, the Healers Ward would have been buzzing with action.
She was about to continue when she heard the branch snap. She frowned out at the dense underbrush. "Yeah, I heard it too." Lore will forever never admit that when that branch hit her sister on the head, she jumped in surprise. If she was frowning before, she was outright glowering now. Who would do something mean like that?
Her own thoughts were echoed by Abha and Lore moved to put herself between Akhana and the brush that the stick came from. Abha had already spoken, she'd see what would happen next.

Akhana's ears were pulled back. She ducked down, not wanting to get hit again. “I think we should just hurry and leave. We don't want to cause any trouble and what if the package got hurt?” She didn't want to fail the first mission she was able to go on without an older member. She wanted to prove that she could complete a mission. This would just be a small set back. If they got out of here without causing an issue, they could finish their mission without anything going terrible wrong.
“I'm fine, so it's okay to just leave.” She said, giving a small smile, hoping to convince her sister and Abha. If they didn't agree she would stick with them, just to make sure they didn't get hurt. Who ever attacked them wouldn't dare fight all three of them, assuming there was only one.
Out of the bush came a monkey. She was using a piece of cloth as a bag, which held sticks and stones. In her hand was a long stick she used to walk. “Apologize?” She said quietly, looking at the ground. “Hurting a young lioness is a cruel act indeed. A deed that, if done with ill intentions would be such a crime. A crime worthy of a lion hunting down this poor monkey and using her fur as a small, itty bitty rug, maybe for a cub? Probably for a cub. A monkey rug would serve no use for an adult lion.” The monkey's free hand did hand movements as she talked. She kept her distance from the group.
“Now what was I saying? Ah yes. Apologize? APOLOGIZE?” Her voice was much louder now. Her mouth formed a playful grin. “No, there is no need for an apology from this monkey. This monkey did nothing wrong. This monkey was just defending her land that her family has guarded for years and years. Much before the first giant fur ball showed up. I believe it is your turn to apologize. You should get off this land before terribly horrific things happen. Is that right friends?” Cries in the trees echoed the land. Monkey's popped their heads out of trees and bushes, surrounding the three padawans.
Akhana felt herself sink even more. She was not prepared for this. Why did bad things always seem to happen around her? “What should we do?” she asked, hoping that someone had a plan.

A monkey appeared from the brush using a staff as support. She started to speak almost rambling when she suddenly spoke at a higher volume. That smile bothered her and Abha didn't like that this monkey was threatening them if they didn't leave.
Looking back at Akhana she frowns, "You're right the package is important." Abha inhales and closes her eyes. What was she supposed to do? Her first mission and they get attacked. As much as she wanted to Abha couldn't take on the growing mass of monkeys. The package needs to get delivered and causing a ruckus wouldn't help anything right now.
Looking back in the direction of the head monkey Abha grits her teeth,"I am sorry that we are trespassing."
Looking down Abha sighed, "If we had known this land was off limits we wouldn't have came this way. We are just trying to get through to the Ward lands."

Lore frowned as the monkey spoke. She didn't remember hearing this in their history lessons. If fact, she was pretty sure that the current leader of the monkeys was on good terms with Grand Master Verex. She turned around and checked Akhana's head where the branch had hit. It was going to leave a bruise and might swell up a bit, but it would be fine. Though she wanted to kick herself for not being prepared. She vowed to try and get a medical pouch when they returned home. Satisfied that her sister wasn't seriously harm, she turned back to the monkeys. She knew she had to do something. The situation wasn't going anywhere.
Lore took a steadying breath -just like her teachers had taught them- and stepped forward.
"Hurting someone with ill intentions is a disregard for life. I know that life has great meaning and reverence within your culture; It is why both your clan and the Jedi have remained friends for so long. Our teachers all speak highly of you and the Healers have learned so much from the skills your clan had taught them so long ago." She looked straight into the monkey's eyes "I wish to know where Kinship and respect for life has gone, and why it has been replaced with malice and the Dark Ways?"

Akhana listened to her fellow padawans. She stood up, feeling a little bit more confident. Lore was right. These were not the monkeys she had heard about in their studies. “Maybe we can talk it over?” She squeaked out, her tail moving nervously. “I am sure there has been a simple misunderstanding between us.” Her little body gravitated toward Lore, so she was able to hid. Her confidence was slowly fading.
The monkey seemed to listen to the three of them and she stroked her chin as they talked. Her attention went to the hyena. “Thank you for apologizing. We are grateful for it.” She swung to a branch above them. “However we don't know if we forgive you yet.”
She then looked at Lore. “Do not misunderstand us. We respect life more then any creature. However we do not respect those who trespass. But we'll consider forgetting about your unfortunate mistake if you do us a favor.” The monkey said, now hanging upside down by her tail. “It's a simple favor.”

Abha hadn't heard of this history yet and she felt so out of the loop. If she had been here longer Abha would have probably learned all this. Abha frowns as she hears all of this. What were the talking about and why if their supposed to be allies are the monkeys showing such hostilities?
The monkey began to speak again and she asks the group to do a favor for her. Abha looked to her team mates unsure of what to do. Abha then mutters in a low tone,"But we need to deliver the package."
Looking back up at the Monkey she asks, "What type of favor? Is it something that we can complete on the way to our destination?"

Lore frowned. She didn't like nor care for the way this monkey was acting. Plus she was beginning to push Akhana back into the box she liked to put herself in. That big of a heart shouldn't be caged and Lore had promised herself that she would try her hardest to not let that happen. She also just didn't like the monkey! But she held that thought and tried to think of a way out of this without making her sister upset.
Lore listened to the conversation and then spoke. "Yes, maybe this is an understanding. If you'd want anything done about it, why don't you meet with Grand Master Verex? He surely can do more for your cause then three Padawans on a simple mission could. You seem to know us well enough to pass judgment, so I am sure you know what the single bead around our neck means."
Her frown grew deeper when the monkey brought up a favor. "We are under orders to complete our mission, nothing more, nothing less. If you would like to have a service done for you by the Jedi, you would need to speak to the Peacekeepers. Now," she waved a paw at the monkeys surrounding the three Padawans that blocked their path "will you please let us be on our way?"

Akhana nodded her head. Her sister was right after all. If they gave into the monkeys, they would just appear weak. Her sister was anything but weak. “On our way back we could take us with you so you can speak with some of the older jedi. There is little we can do to help you right now.” She hoped that would be enough to calm the monkeys down. However if they were to anger them they would be in some serious trouble.
Foot steps could be heard heading toward them. Akhana thought that it must be another ambush and quickly turned around. However one of the newly appointed council members stood there.
Jayen had been with the sick wards. He was guarding them against any creatures that wish harm to befall them. When the issue arrived to the council's attention he had requested to deal with it himself. This area was his first home and he tried his best to get back there whenever he could. However when he arrived in the forest he had heard that his grandfather, Mistogi had left the jungle, making contact with another tribe a ways away. In his absence Skelir, his cousin, had taken role of the monkey leader.
Knowing her, the worst was going to happen.
For a while Jayen let her do her thing. She didn't change much, and what she did change could be fixed upon Mistogi's return. However when she affected the jedi, she was crossing a line.
“I'm here if Skelir wants to talk.” Jayen said with a small smile. He stood next to the younglings and glanced over at them. “You did a good job. If you want, you can finish your quest. I'll stay here and deal with Skelir and her friends.”
The monkey leader froze. She had heared Jayen had gotten onto the council. She assumed he would be too busy to come find her. “We mean the jedi no harm.” She finally said. “I apologize for the misunderstanding. However I will want to speak with the council and change the treaty between us. It is due for a change. For now we will go back home. I don't need a scolding from you cousin.” She sent a shrieking cry, and the monkeys started their retreat. She was quick to follow them.

The sudden appearance of one of the council members did NOT spook her! Jedi don't GET spooked! They were suppose to be aware of their surroundings! She furiously fought the blush that threatened to creep onto her face. It was no time to be embarrassed, there was still a situation at hand. And a mission to complete. Though the unexpected interruption Jayen had caused was not un-welcomed in the slightest.
While the council member spoke, Lore warily stood guard by her sister. Had she really done a good job? Abha and Akhana had both been trying to de-escalate the situation while Lore herself had been confrontational. She would have to meditate later and talk with one of her teachers to figure out if she had done the right thing. Not all went into the Peacekeepers, but diplomacy was still a valued skill.
She had to hide the surprise she felt when the monkey- Skelir - seemed to loose all the bravado that she had presented to Lore. Instead apologizing and - wait, did she just say cousin?- leaving with her people. Lore watched them go before turning to Jayen. She gave a small bow "Thank you for your assistance Council Member, it was quite welcome." She grinned at her fellow Younglings. "How about we go get that package to who it belongs to!" Bowing again to Jayen in leave, Lore turned to her sister "When we get to the Ward Lands, I'll ask if I can borrow a herb that will make that bump hurt less." She promised her as she turned to Abha. "Ready?"

A council member? Abha felt her posture adjust to be more formal as he began to talk. As he spoke Abha would have begun dancing for joy for being praised for doing a good job if she was alone at home. Lore bowed and thanked the council member Jayen. Abha followed suit in expressing her thanks. Lore pipes up about the package and Abha nods, "We should continue and I'm sure they can give you something for the bump."
