A tiny orange blur whizzed through the trees, picking up speed as it went. Flint scanned the terrain with a serious expression on his face, looking for danger, damsels in distress, adventure. He zipped upward and out of the tops of the trees and hovered for a moment, taking a long sweeping glance at the forest and then plunging back downward into its depths. Something interesting had caught his eye, but he couldn't go on without her. She would be extremely interested in what he had found. His tiny wings propelled him forward through leaves and branches and around the trunks of trees, until he whizzed past the bush that hid Falling Rock, the young filly that he had become best friends with. He doubled back, slowing down a little this time so as not to miss her again. He landed with a light thud in the safety of her mane, and peeked out of it adventurously. "Something interesting ahead, Captain. Worth investigating," he said shortly, trying to catch his breath and saluting her with a small feathered wing.

Twinkling orange eyes watched the little hummingbird disappear into the forest from behind the leaves of a bush. Falling Rock grinned and shuffled her feet with anticipation. This was always how the game went. She knew Flint would return in a matter of seconds with interesting news of what lay ahead for her and then they would embark on their adventure for the day. She wondered what it would be this time, climbing up mountains, running from wolves, wrestling bears, or perhaps swimming! Whatever it was, she knew it would be fun. Flint had a knack for picking out grand and glorious things for her to do.

She felt a thud at the back of her head, her grey and orange mane flowing into her face as her head was knocked forward a little. She hadn't even seen him pass her, but figured he had been going too fast again. He did that a lot. She looked up at him, giving him a daring wink and running forwards from the bush as fast as she could, trying to match the speed of the little hummingbird. She never really liked waiting behind for him, but she couldn't keep up no matter how hard she tried and it was safer if she stayed hidden anyways. She took full advantage of being able to run now, feeling the wind in her mane and spreading her wings wide to touch the air with her feathers. She couldn't fly yet, but if she could she'd be soaring through the air in a gallop above the trees. He gave her slight directions as she ran, and she didn't let up in her speed towards their destination. She didn't ask what or where it was, she knew he liked things to be a surprise, and so did she.

Tait walked along the dirt path, bored as could be. His parents were busy giving flying lessons to his sister Utani. His siblings cheering her on and gazing in wonder at her double set of wings as she tried to control them. It just wasn't for him. He knew he would be a better flyer then her one day, he just couldn't yet. Only having one set of wings was pretty depressing sometimes.

So Tait wandered on his own, kicking dirt clumps and leaves with every step. He wish he had something to do. Something to take his mind off not being as good as his twin. A shiny rock twinkling in the sun as he was about to kick it helped with that. He bent down to sniff it curiously, wondering why it would be shiny in a dry place like this. It smelled a little odd. maybe a taste could let him place the smell.

Tait picked it up in his mouth and nibbled it a little. Swishing it around his mouth and running his tongue over the smooth surface. The rock did such a good job of distracting that he didn't even notice the ruckus of running till it was too late.

She was practically flying now, all she would have to do was stretch her wings and..."Oof!" she collided with the other full force, causing the air to completely evacuate her lungs. She gasped momentarily, opening her mouth and searching for air in panic. To her relief the air returned mercifully to her and she took a few deep and reassuring breaths. She looked up, searching for Flint who had gone flying into the air after the collision. Her eyes fell upon the other foal first however, and she immediately felt embarrassed. "I...uh...sorry! I was trying to fly and..." she explained halfheartedly, still testing her lungs for air to make sure she could still breathe. Her heart leapt at the sight behind the foal however. A rockslide! This was where Flint had intended to take her. She wanted to cry, she was so happy. It wasn't a big one, but there were rocks everywhere. Home.

She grinned at the colt, as if he had taken some part in Flint's plan, as if he knew what this meant to her. She ran past him and onto the biggest rock she could see. "Well, don't just stand there, come on!" she called back to him, nodding her head and indicating towards the rockslide. "Flint, come on!" she shouted and began to climb upward.

Nevermind that she didn't know the foal she had just knocked over, didn't know if he was ok. Never mind that she hadn't bothered to locate Flint. No no, it was adventure time for Fall and there was no interrupting that. He should have known when bringing her here that nothing else would matter but the rocks. There was something about them that she enjoyed that he could not understand. He shrugged and checked to make sure he was fit to fly and then whizzed after her. He paused only to inspect the other foal. He didn't seem dangerous, and judging by his wings he seemed to be a fit playmate for Fall.

"Are you alright?" he asked, hoping that the colt wouldn't be upset by Fall's rude behavior, "You'd better follow her...She'll pout if you don't, and then I have to deal with her." He rolled his eyes a little bit, but then winked at the colt and zoomed after Fall in mere seconds. He could deal with the filly, but he hoped the other would come along for the adventure. Whatever Fall had planned was bound to be fun.

Tait had almost been sent flying himself, as the filly rammed into him. He hadn't even had time to spit the rock out first. Which immediately decided to jump down his throat. Almost as if the rock had been scared and thought the safest place from a rambunctious little filly was the inside of the little colt.

Tait landed hard on his rump. Stunned before going into a fit of coughs and slight gagging. He usually never swallowed anything he nibbled. He knew it wasn't food. He had even been told that rocks would stay in his tummy forever if he swallowed any. And now he was stuck with it. He coughed again, throat spasming a little from a rough edge that had gone down. One more cough seemed to make it calm down though.

He looked through blurred eyes at the retreating filly as she climbed the rocks. Had she said something? She certainly seemed excited for some reason. How could she be on her feet after a hit like that. Tait certainly refused to believe he was on his rump because he was weak. He stood a little shaky at first, lifting a front leg to clear the water from his eyes. Only to see a small flash flit before his eyes. It seemed to be squeaking at him for some reason. Then roll its eyes? Had Tait done something to his eyes when he rubbed the water away?

He watched the tiny bird flit off towards the filly. "Hey" He said, a little quietly. He got his footing then and yelled up at teh filly "Hey! Where are you going?! You made me swallow a rock!" He tried to make his face stern like he had seen his father do. Unfortunately his came out looking more like a pout.

Falling Rock paused irritably in her ascent up the slide. She huffed and looked down at the colt, fire in her eyes. "Why did you have a rock in your mouth? They don't like being tasted, you know," she said, her tone dripping with attitude. Who was this stranger, interrupting her adventure and refusing to go along with it? Didn't he know how to have fun?

Her facial expression and stubborn attitude softened at the sight of his pout, however. "I'm sorry," she mumbled, "I'm going to the top of this rockslide to learn how to fly...do you know how to fly?" She looked at his wings with interest, perhaps he could help her...that is, if he didn't swallow any more rocks.

Flint squeaked protectively. What? Learn to fly? Now? He knew exactly what she intended to do and it caused his stomach to do somersaults. It was either fly or fall for her, there was no stopping it. For the past few weeks he had seen her becoming more and more restless, her wings growing and begging to be used. He could only hope that this other foal either knew how to fly or could talk some sense into her. He wanted to tell her not to do anything stupid, not to carry out her plan...but he knew anything he said would travel in one ear and out the other. She had her mind made up, and there was no going back. Perhaps he shouldn't have brought her here...too late.
