So, although Black 2 and White 2 were just released not too long ago, GameFreak has announced the first games in the sixth generation Pokemon arc... Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. These two new games were announced on the special Nintendo Direct. In this announcement, it was stated that the next generation, Generation Six, will be compatible with only the 3DS systems, and will have all new 3D graphics [if so chosen to use them], and more. These games are announced to be released in October of 2013, and seeing that that is all that was said, it may well be a worldwide release, opposed to the previous separate releases.

Now then, though. I'm sure some of us are wondering what these "X" and "Y"'s are for. Well, those are the new Legendary Pokemon, the cover art Pokemon, who will be representing each game. In Pokemon X, we have Xerneas, while in Pokemon Y, we have Yveltal. Neither of these Pokemon look like the generic half Dragon Type Pokemon. Yveltal has already been theoried to either have Dark or Poison in its Typing, while there isn't much word on Xerneas floating about.

Other than these details, we also already know the three starter Pokemon for the games. Our new Grass starter, is Chespin. On the other hand, our Fire and Water starters are Fennekin and Froakie.

Lastly, the first trailer is also released.

Customizable Characters
There is a rumor/theory floating around that the main protagonists of the games, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, will be customizable by the player. This is still in the air, due to how new everything is.

Rollerblade Transportation
There is a rumor/theory floating around that there will be a new form of transportation; rollerblades. In the trailer, there was a small clip that showed the character moving as if he were on rollerblades. It is unknown if this may or may not replace the Bike.

Change in Training???
There may or may not be a change in the way that Pokemon are trained.

Quote

This may change EV training completely, or it may not. It does sound like it will have an impact on the metagame, though it is currently unknown what the system upgrade actually is as of now.

Change in Training!!!
It has officially been confirmed that there is a new manner in which people can EV Train their Pokemon.
Super Training
Super Training majorly consists of, if not entirely, mini-games. As of current, only one of these games is known. In this game, the user has a Pokemon in the field and that is taken under the control of the player by means of the touchscreen or the Circle Pad. The purpose of this is to deflect the balls of Balloon Bots so that they do not go into the user's goal, while the player, on the contrary, sends various balls of their own into the opponent's goal. Although EV's are not actually earned during Super Training, rewards are received from these mini-games which are used to increase EV's. These prizes are known as "Training Bags" which can be used in Core Training.

Core Training
Core Training is where the actual earning of EV's takes place. Although Training Bags don't seem to be necessary, they act similarly to Vitamins and Feathers wherein they automatically give the Pokemon EV's without any effort from the player actually needing to be done. In Core Training, Pokemon partake in what are known as "Core Sessions" to increase their EV's and hone their stats. Another new addition that comes along with Core Training is that it gives the player the capability to see and keep track of their Pokemon's EVs in-game. Although it doesn't appear that there are any numbers present, it will allow people to easily max out stats without having to pay attention to how many Pokemon they might have KO'd, Vitamins that they may have given, or Core Sessions that the Pokemon may have received.

New Eeveelution
Released on CoroCoro, word of a new Eeveelution named Sylveon has been set forth. Its Typing and way of evolution is currently unknown.

There are two other theories/rumors that I know are floating around.
First, you will have rollerblades to get around. Whether it replaces the bike is yet to be discovered though.
Second, There is an Eiffel Tower looking structure in one of the in game shots which allows the potential for this game to be set somewhere in Europe, probably France as opposed to Japan in the previous games.

Otherwise there are many speculations as to what the typing will be for the starter Pokemon's final evolutions.
It does look as though this game will bring a break in the Fire/Fighting tradition. I would predict that Fennekin will end up being simply a pure fire type.
Froake will turn out to be either Water/Ground or Water/Psychic. I do hope it is Water/Psychic though.
Finally Chespin a Grass/Normal type.

Yet, these are just speculations, and it will be interesting seeing how these games turn out.

I can just image Game Freak sitting back in their chairs and laughing at everybody's theories as to what the game will be though. That or them being freaked out how (potentially) accurate peoples assumptions already are.

I did notice the rollerblade-esque looking transportation in the trailer. I'd say it's a bit too early to consider anything regarding Typing, though.

also confirmed is that the pokedex will surpass 700, and though this is guess work on my part, i think two new eeveelutions will pop up this gen (every time there has been new eeveelutions it's happened on an even generation)

as a former battler, i'm more interested on the impact to the metagame, like what new abilities, and moves will be added, what TMs and move tutors we'll be getting, most especially if SR makes a return as a tm, new if any breeding mechanics, will there be level 100 battles again? and if this:

will have an impact on the metagame.

though i'd hate for some of the new pokedex spots to be taken up on new evos for old pokemon, i'd still like to see some evo's that will expand OU, like the long asked for Pinsir evo, maybe a light metal evo that would flip its stats a bit like the scyther/scizor evo, guess we'll have to wait and see though

This makes sense in my head, so I'm going to say it

To me this sounds more like their will be more moves like Return where it gets stronger with friendship, maybe elemental ones?

Gamestop has posted a *tentative* hard date for X&Y, at october 31, i say tentative because, and this isn't a rule that is always followed, but games are usually released on a monday, or sunday midnight (IIRC), which would probably mean November 3 or 4, I'll be going to Gamestop today to talk to a friend and pick up the new FE game, so i'll ask him about it then, still a ways away i know, but i'm pretty sure pre-ordering is available now, if you're interested

couple of interesting points on the new game:

Talked to my buddy at gamestop, and he confirmed a Nov 1st. release for X/Y, though take that with a grain of salt, FE Awakening was slated to come out Feb 5th, but got pushed back by a couple of days due to manufacturing issues , I don't see that being an issue, as pokemon is immensely more popular in NA than Fire Emblem

Serebii just showed the first sneak peek of a pokemon via Coro Coro, and as many suspected (because it's an even numbered generation) it's an eeveelution called Ninfia (images from Coro Coro are up on the Serebii website)

on a random side note, my shop should be opened up soon, i'm still getting my events documented and consolidating everything from my japanese cart over to my main trading cart

From the looks of things some of the old pokemon might be getting new evolutions. it was recently leaked that Eevee Is getting an eight evolution.

http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/news/a458925/pokemon-x-and-y-evolved-eevee-unveiled-image.html

I also noticed that the background shown in the trailer seems to be Parisian design. Which leads me to think that this gen will take place in region similar to France.

I am rather interested in what the 6th gen pokemon will look like.

English name for Ninfia was released as Sylveon...I can't infer as to what the typing is by the name alone, or with the video posted on serebii, the attacks shown didn't give any hints, one was some sort of energy projectile, maybe focus blast? another was some sort of card attack ala Gambit from X-men, another looked like a boosting move, and the last looked like swift, so, in short...I have no clue what its typing is, maybe you guys have some guesses

@GL Jason, I'm thinking that it's going to be Europe in general, or maybe a specific region of Europe, like The Mediterranean area, France seems a little too small to create an entirely new region
