You asked for it, and we're giving it to you:
The Suggestion Box!

Here, you can leave your suggestions on how to improve what's already
in effect, as well as your feedback on events, games, and general lore.

If you have a thought that you feel you'd rather not say in a thread or
is of a personal nature, BP and Chrys' PM's are always open for you.

Thank you for supporting Life Dust!

Hiiiii. I suppose I'll be the first to use this! C:

The event that just ended brought in something new with it, so I'm going to center a portion of this feedback post to that first. I was really happy to see an ORP going on, but I was also saddenedthat it wasn't able to take off from the ground. I think this could be fixed in a number of ways. However, there is something I'd like to address first in regards to a quote on this subject from the thread when the ORP's events were canceled.

In response to Wintertide ORP
Unfortunately, we have neither the participation we were hoping for

For event ORP's in a shop just getting off the ground in an IC/meta sense, it's probably going to stay small in terms of participation for awhile, so I think 5-6 solid pages of multi-paragraph roleplay was actually a great start. However, if you want the ORP to be more active, then I think adding more direction to the RP could help a lot. Yes, the ORP was lovely, and I enjoyed the interaction, but once the initial mingling had been done, there was nothing to do. Even the most active shops won't have a level of interest in ORP's if there isn't something to do in them, and while the characters were at liberty to walk around and maybe ICly give each other flowers, there weren't any games to play or prompts to take part in or even five-minute GM IC nudges, which I think could add a lot of life to the ORP.

I feel like the above issue is easily fixed. I know you two are tight on time, so I think instead of time-consuming prompts or games, you could weave in dice-mechanic games so that the characters in the ORP can play them without having to wait for a GM to deal one out at a designated time when not everyone is online. You could also post different prompts up on the front page for people to utilize. I completely understand time constraints, but I also imagine it wouldn't be too hard to pre-write a few average demon openings and mechanics for the Dusts and players to investigate in regards to what was supposed to go down in the ORP.

On that note, I hope you don't mind if I address a more personal overall piece of feedback. orz While I really appreciate that you guys are super active and there are a lot of new Dust babies running around, I'm also feeling extremely disheartened by the lack of attention the teenagers are given. I know there are only two/three active ones right now, but that's still two/three active Dusts that cannot fulfill their requirements, and haven't been able to since they grew. To put it in perspective, I got Krinn to teen in early 2009, after Cadaver was grown and only a few months before Ziya. I haven't been able to fulfill his meta requirement nor his demon encounters for three years. This shop has re-opened and been around now for an entire year. Yes, I am honestly excited for all of the new people coming in with their dusts, but I would love to see the demon encounters system put into play soon and to see the metas more active.

For the demon encounters system (whenever you manage to get it out! c: ) I hope that meeting them could be private as well as an event thing. If the problem is time constraints, you could always simply have a quest system like you use for growth quests, only tailor it to demon encounters instead.

I'd also like to offer another general feedback; LD is great to roleplay in, but there are a few things that I would like to point out.

The Dusts are put down into mankind to save them, but only once or twice in the four years I've been here have there been any demon encounters of any kind. There's a lack of knowledge on what they do, and after many years of roleplaying my teenager going through the motions without ever doing what he was originally created to do, I would sincerely hope you would be able to introduce the demons, or at least make the Dusts aware that they are made for a reason.

Moreover, I must admit some confusion about the general world setting. I remember asking Chrystali about firearms in LD once and being told they wouldn't be very affective, and quite rare. I also remember being told we're "just getting into" the industrial era. These two quotes, taken from the front page and the general information section, baffle me.

Front Page - Setting
Life Dust takes place in a time that's pre-industrial revolution.

General Information - Technology
Think 1900's. But in this world there are cities that are more technologically advanced than others.

I know scattered comments and questions have been made here and there, but I'd rather just hash out this question/feedback here. The Industrial Revolution started in 1760. But the technology level in LD is supposed to be set as 1900's. Also, the mass production of early automobiles started around 1895, and by the 1900's there was a widespread application of the internal combustion engine. Barring cars and trains (I know one sort of exists in LD, but trains were definitely commonplace by the decade), which I know are stated not to appear in LD, if we're to go by the "1900's" level technology in LD, we would also have submarines, very early model planes, zeppelins, the early years of cinema, and so on and so forth. Guns would be more widely used than other weapons.

So what I would like to know is are we just taking tiny pieces of what was invented back then and dropping it into a pre-Industrial Era setting? And if so, what pieces are we supposed to be picking exactly? At the moment, it feels more like early 1800's barring a few advanced pieces of technology. The clothing is also from the Industrial Era, which was nearly 60 years beforehand? 120 years, if we're going all the way back to the beginning of that era. I'd really love some clarification on this, since the 1900's and the 17-1800's were steeped in vastly different cultures and I'm not sure how to properly play my characters in the LD setting.

I'm sorry if this comes off as pessimistic or rude, I honestly mean neither. ;;;;; But these things have been stirring around in my head for awhile now, and with a proper place to put them, I just kind of word-vomitted them all out. I really appreciate everything you guys are doing! Thank you for reading. <3

I agree with you on the meta suggestions. We did plan for a few games and such -- but I think the biggest problem was the season of which the ORP appeared in --the Holiday time, and personally I guess that's what caused the lack of time with the participants and also on our end. In any case I think that what you suggested, the IC things to do, would be applied more in the future. vwv/ I also was actually pretty pleased on the participation, in any case. But we are aware of this and I already am planning a meta of sorts in the near future that would hopefully be more at the core of the storyline.

And I am on board with you with the teenagers and their requirements. The shop had been obviously dead for a few years though so that's one thing to consider with the not getting the reqs done? But of course -- the system has to be done and will be requestable on yourown time and not just within a shop event.

With the issue of the demon encounters, again -- there really hasn't been a chance yet to really do that because the shop has been dead and living and shifting that way for the past years -- and also, a time where there are enough people active for that hasn't been seen at all yet. Though again, I do have a plan for that and I do hope to see it come to fruiton soon. SOOn SOON....

&& The world info is completely my fault. xD
I will definitely try to iron that out, I have answered numerous questions though about the tehcnologies/medical/military etc.
But mostly it's fantasy and I just have that time period out there to kind of give you guys a basic image of things. Again, I will make it clearer since you brought this up -- and of course if you have specific questions you can ask me. Honestly the world is very open for you to interpret as well! I know that sounds vague but I do want you guys to have freedom and fun with it. BUTAGAINILLMAKETHINGSCLEARER.
Thanks ama! And I appreciate your comments, really.

i never like going first...so thank god Ama started! xp

one particular thing i feel i would like bring up is related to what Keifuu had mentioned. You guys sometimes aren't always on and this can make things hectic for us as much as for you. by this i mean like in situations similar to the ORP fiasco where you had 5 million things on your plates at once and all the things you had hoped to do fell apart. not only did you have high hopes, but so did we as your faithful shop-goers. I feel like this should maybe encourage you to hire on someone to manage things while the queens(cause you two are just that awesome <3) are gone. someone that can run an event game if you both end up out of commision or to help with the issues other shop-goers may have. or maybe even someone to help with those shop features you're trying to finish up.

actually, going off of the "finishing shop features" comment i made, i feel like you guys may be trying a little too hard to keep all the ideas of the shop and its lore originating from you. i know that's almost basically the point of it(i mean, i have a shop idea that i want only myself to be messing with), but you might have an easier time bouncing ideas or ways to go about it off of the shop-goers.

this is all meant to be constructive critisism, please don't take it the wrong way.

As I said, the ORP didn't cover things we all wanted to happen during but it did make more of the characters meet and mingle at the very least and I do think that was a nice progress at least. And it wasn't the lack of staff that didn't make it happen, really. But we definitely could have made some things more active for the rpers to do.

And I do disagree because I've always said from the beginning that the shop-goers and the people within the shop should have freedom in terms of the world of LD. Because it IS fictional and it is fantasy merely based on some things of the real world to have a better footing on. That is why I am always pleased to have seen histories/buildings/institutions that were fabricated by the shop-goers themselves. Many people have already done that. But what I do need to do is make countries/cities clearer for people to generate ideas from. Thank you for the comments.

I TYPED BP-CHAN INTO THE QUOTE THING AND SPENT A WHOLE MINUTE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT LOOKED WRONG asdfghjkl;;

If you dont give me a medal for that I WILL MAKE ONE MYSELF

Anyways, awesome! ヽ(;▽;)ノ I'm really excited to see it all in motion, and I hope I didn't come off as too strong or too demanding. I KNOW THAT YOU GUYS WORK HARD AND I'M REALLY, REALLY THANKFUL BECAUSE I LOVE THIS SHOP I just had a few things I wanted to nudge out there. I'm definitely not trying to rush you guys into anything, I am fine with waiting, I just wanted some reassurance that the teenagers were gonna have the ability to do stuff for those reqs.

& no problem! I know that world-building is a tedious process uguu. I'll definitely ask if I have anymore questions on the world setting as whole. * v *

THANKS FOR ANSWERING, YOU ARE LOVELY AND I'M SORRY TO BOTHER YOU SO MUCH ((o( ; △ ; )o))

Hello *pops in*

I was trying to get my bearings in a general world layout sense and was having some difficulty. In all honestly, it was just because I couldn't quite figure out where some guardians/dusts live in relation to me.

Would it be possible for each guardian's home to be marked down on a map of Aimes? Just the generalized map, nothing crazy. Just enough to know if, for example, I would pass by Aric's house if I were on my way to Nolan's.

Also... I was under the impression that the Deith forest extended upwards along the river east of Aimes? And now I'm not sure. Am I wrong or right in thinking it extends north a bit?
