With her inheritance burning a hole in her purse, and a real need for some retail therapy, Arachne had headed to Town Heights to visit the Maul. She mostly wanted an upgrade for her skellyphone, maybe an eyePhone? Although she felt like she wanted a wardrobe upgrade, something to reflect the fact that she had gone through a great deal of personal changes.
Though that would mean making some fashion choices, and she felt that she was a little lost in that respect. She was sure that the sales assistants at the shops like Ghoul's Delight would be happy to help her find some new outfits but as to whether they would be what suited her, or whether they more interested in making a sale was debatable.
Whilst she was thinking, her steps had taken her right up to and inside the Maul. She wasn't wearing her trusty dress today, instead she'd gone for a black blouse, black bootcut pants, black boots, and for a splash of colour had thrown on a crimson tailored jacket.
That was another thing, should she stick to the same colours? She stopped at the first clothes shop she came across and peered in the window display, trying to work out if the designs they were selling were 'her' or not..

She wanted to look like a respectable young ghoul. If she wanted to be presentable, she needed to get clothing that looked as grown up as she wanted to be ( a challenge when one was kind of doomed to always look several years younger than everybody else). With that in mind, she'd been highly recommended to the store 'Ghoul's Delight'. Mostly because they were having what was a very nice sale. Especially for a ghoul who sort of needed to buy her own things.
She was sure her mother would have helped out, but her father...well, they'd been in the roughs lately and she was the eldest. She had a job. She didn't mind. She wouldn't be the most amazingly dressed individual ever, but she'd make due.
Still, looking through the windows of the store, she tried to not make any judgements too hurriedly. She was just looking.....except the sale was only one day.
Oh jack.
She'd never gone shopping by herself ever. Visible terror. Right there.

'Ugh this is hopeless.' Arachne grumbled to herself. She would actually have to go inside the shop, but as there was a sale on, it looked pretty busy. It was a source of some dread; the thought of trying on clothes with other ghouls around, ones that didn't have what her grandmother always called her 'spawn-bearing' hips.
But there was little to be done, and she might as well take a deep breath and go inside. Before she did, she caught sight of the daintiest young ghoul she'd ever seen. She was, quite simply, very cute, and looked like the kind of girl that invited smiles and was given allowances no matter what she did. Arachne was envious, clothes probably all look wonderful on her.
She realised she was probably staring by now, and would have been caught out doing so, and gave a half-shrug, coupled with an apologetic smile.

If Arachne had 'spawn bearing' hips, Tomoko's hips were not a lie. This wasn't to say that she had anything resembling a feminine figure, but when one had six tails - going on seven - they had the hips to support that kind of butt-room.
Feeling eyes on her, Tomoko slowly looked towards the ghoul who was also window shopping and smiled meekly, almost seeming embarrassed as she also made her way into the store to get a closer look at things, immediately being overwhelmed by everything.
Well.
She um.
Yeah. She might have been having a small panic attack trying to decide where to start.

Arachne followed the tail-blessed ghoul inside the store and inwardly, and then outwardly let out a groan at the amount of merchandise on offer. The crowd of ghouls, and the occasional boil was no less daunting as they moved around trying to snap up bargains during the one day sale, and a quick glance around the racks gave no clue about where was a good place to start.
It had been okay when she was shopping last year for the prom, she'd had an idea in mind already, but this was 'whole wardrobe' revamp territory, which meant many more decisions.
'Well, I have no idea where to start..' she said, and felt daring enough to give the ghoul a little tap on the shoulder.
'You look just as lost as me, want to be lost together?'
Truthfully it had been a long time since she'd had any ghoul talk, and she was craving that, plus there was safety in numbers. Plus they could ask each other if their butts looked big in stuff, that's what you did when you went clothes shopping right?

Tomoko took in the overwhelming scene with a frown, nearly jumping out of her skin when someone tapped on her shoulder - oh! That ghoul from outside! The kitsune smiled meekly.
"I think that sounds like a safe idea." she answered quietly, knitting her fingers together as she looked curiously at all the shelves and - man, there really was a lot to take in.. and a lot of people to bump into. Sales certainly made a place crowded!CitrusCupcake Omg, I didn't see you'd posted!

'Sorry.' Arachne said, seeing how much the made the little ghoul jump.
'Didn't meant to surprise you. You're a student yes? I'm Arachne.' she followed the direction the ghoul was looking and added;
'Bit daunting isn't it? I'm okay when I have a particular thing I want, but I need lots of clothes, and I'm worried I'll buy a whole load of new stuff that I'll feel awkward wearing.'
She smiled again.
'Good. Was there something in particular you wanted?' she asked, maybe if the ghoul only wanted one or two items they could find those first, get a feel for what was on offer.

Smiling back meekly, Tomoko bowed slightly. "I'm Tomoko." she introduced, giving another anxious look around and wringing her skirt as she did so. "It's....yeah..Idon't...normally...." her voice got quieter and quieter as she spoke - which already wasn't helpful given that the store was a little bit loud with the crowd of people.
But her voice came back soon enough. "I'm just looking for just...something new. Nothing fancy. Just nice." she nodded once. Yeah. That was the way to go.

Arachne had never felt that she needed to be gently encouraging, mostly because everyone she knew was pretty confident or bold, and prior to the latest upheaval in her life she wouldn't have wanted to try. She had never felt she had the personal skills, but she'd been working on that and she leaned in slightly to catch Tomoko's words amongst the noise of the sales shoppers around them.
'Well, it's nice to mee you Tomoko. And I don't go shopping much either, I tended to stick with the same old outfits.' she heard the second sentence from the ghoul more distinctly and gave a little nod.
'Something new huh? Well how about we start in one section and work our way through, see if there's anything that catches your eye, and maybe I'll find something that won't make me look like I'm trying to hard.'
It was about the best plan she could think of, and hopefully Tomoko would become more comfortable the longer they were in the shop (she hoped the same for herself, it wasn't as if she didn't like new things) .
