The days had dragged on for years for Johnathan since his father died.
He couldn't bring himself to shed any tears since then. He'd gone about his daily routines of keeping the house clean and cooking dinner, but the boy was amiss - there was none of the usual sparkle in his eyes or hop in his step. There weren't any smiles or any raised voices. Instead he spoke in low, subdued tones and kept his head low, his shoulders feeling like lead. Everything hurt.
Everything hurt.
The laundry was in the washing machine and Johnathan couldn't bring himself to wait there for much longer. He ached. His eyes felt heavy and fogged. The boy dragged himself upstairs and closed the door so only four or so inches of threshold remained open. Quietly he sank into bed and heaved a heavy sigh. He was somewhat thankful he had a reprieve from school due to the death, but did it have to come so soon after the holidays? After their vacation?

Lily was in her room, where she'd been for the last hour after she had come home from grocery shopping. She could hear Johnny shuffling about doing what he usually did, but all the happiness he made that often made Lily smile or laugh fondly just wasn't there. It was very different from what she had come to know in the short time she'd been back. She was cleaning her room, a place she refused to allow anyone to clean, but her so she head Johnny shuffle by and go into his own room, but she didn't hear his door shut.
She sighed to herself looking from her closet to her own partially open door before heading out of the room and into the hallway. She quickly made her way over to Johnny room and almost walked right in, but quickly remembered herself. She knocked softly, "Johnny," she called softly, "do you mind if I come in?"
Her voice was very soft, not wanting to wake Johnny if he was asleep, but he'd be able to hear her if he was awake.

Johnny rolled over from his fetal position facing the wall. He had slithered under one of his dark blue blankets but found he couldn't really sleep. He sat up on one elbow. "Hi Lily. Yeah, you can come in." The blinds were half-drawn, casting an odd eventime shadow in the room when it was still early afternoon. There was a fan in the corner of the room, whirring quietly. Johnny, oddly enough, never did get around to decorating his room. And now he felt he didn't have the gumption to do much of anything. His other tasks seemed to be performed robotically. "...can I do somethin' for you, Lily?"

Lily stepped into the room, right it back like Johnny had it when she did before turning and looking over to Johnny. She took in undecorated room and wondered if his room would one day mirror, Alex's or her own. It was odd that it wasn't decorated, but she didn't say anything.
She stood somewhat awkwardly not sure what to do exactly. If it was Alex, she wouldn't even have knocked. She would have gone right in and crawled into bed with him, they been doing that since they were practically babies. Johnny was Alex though, so Lily was slightly, just slightly unsure.
"I wanted to see how you were doing. I know its a tough time right now," she said before quieting for a moment, "and you've been so quiet and I don't know. I just want to cheer you up."
She made her way to the end of the bed and just stood there with a soft look of sympathy on her face. She didn't like to see her friends unhappy ever, even though she knew things happened.

"You can sit down. I don't mind. I'm a guest in your house, after all." Johnny sat up then and curled his legs beneath him. He had taken a few articles from his parent's bedroom as a sort of souvenir. Something to remember them by. The fan in the corner was one such item. Johnny just didn't have the energy to decide what to do with the room yet. "I'm... okay, I guess." he said finally, rubbing his eye with the heel of his hand. "....Alex said to take it easy but I... don't like takin' it easy. I dunno... what to do with myself, really." He sighed, shoulders shaking with the exhale. "I just... dunno, Lily. I dunno." Crawling out from under the blankets on his side of the bed, Johnny went to sit next to Lily and to lean on her. "I dunno what to do, Lily."

Lily shook her head but sat down, "your not a guest in my house. This is your home. You live here, in our house, with your friends. Just like the big Jacobs home further out in Destiny is my house and the one in England too."
She felt sad to see Johnny seem so lost in this way, hurting, she knew just what it felt like. To not know what to do, trying to go on and possibly not think about it. She'd been in the situation more than once, though not for the same reason as Johnny.
When he leaned on her she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a squeeze, but she didn't let go. She looked look at him, "if you can't take it easy than don't. Everyone is different. I tend to keep thing in then go somewhere private and cry it all out. Do what you need to do."
She gave him another squeeze," scream, cry, trash everything, clean, run, do what you need to do. Okay? Alex is here for you and I am too, okay?"

The boy sighed against Lily, his shoulders relaxing just a touch from listening to her speak. "I... 'ppreciate that a lot, you guys." he started after a long silence spent deliberating on what to say at all. "...Mom's been a wreck since dad died an' she was real mad I wanted to stay here but... I think this is better for me anyway." Johnny nodded to himself as a way of affirming his decision to stay with Alex and Lily as opposed to his mother, who was staying with her side of the family to be out of the house. Johnny motioned to his rather barren desk where several pieces of brightly colored and patterned origami paper lay strewn about. On top of it was a small bouquet of folded flowers. "I made those for you. I know you said you wanted some so... I guess I made a bunch without realizin' it." The boy was then quiet again, opting not to move from his current perch on the bed.

Lily nodded and smiled, "think nothing of it at all. Thats what friends are for right." She sat listening to Johnny while he told her about his mom, she rubbed his back after a moment. "I wouldn't worry to much about it. Just give her time, she only wants what best for you, but sometimes its not easy to see that when your in a bad way okay. If you call her and talk to her I bet you'll see."
Lily's eyes followed Johnny's motion to the desk and she saw them before he said anything, becoming awed by the pretty paper flowers on the desk. Origami wasn't something Lily saw often growing up, so it always amazed her to see it. She blinked when he said they were for her and then smiled brightly. "Thank you. They are so pretty. I love them. I'm going to have to find the perfect place to put them." She wasn't sure where she wanted to put them at the moment, but she definitely want to displace the pretty paper flowers.
"You know you made me flowers and you've taught me to cook some things, but I haven't sung for you yet. Would you like to hear something now?"

Johnny looked up at Lily, a curious glint in his eye. What would he like for her to sing? In that moment, he really wasn't sure if he wanted anything. The boy felt so dead inside, so heavy and full of grief. He sighed, his shoulders sagging with weight that kept pressing down on him. The loss of his father was heavy stuff indeed, but being the first on the scene, being the person who had to discover him that way... it weighed heavily on Johnny's psyche. He was quiet for a while. "....didn't you say once you had a favorite song?" he asked quietly, regarding Lily through his snow blue bangs. "...can you sing that for me? ...please?"

Lily blinked slightly confused because she literally had a long list of favorite songs collected over years and years. She didn't really remember mentioning it, so her look turned thoughtful as she tried to remember. She frowned slightly, but then her face came a light with realization.
"You probably mean 'Once Upon a December'. It been one of my favorites for a long time. I remember watching Anastasia and going back to the scenes with the songs over and over. My mom went out and bought me the soundtrack and then I spent every moment I could memorizing it. When even my sister wanted to act out something and picked Anastasia I always wanted to play Anya."
Lily gave a small smile and thought on the song before humming out the tune.
"Here this song and remember," she whispered, "soon you'll be home with me, once upon a december."
She smiled lightly continuing to hum before she started to sing the song softly for Johnny.
"Dancing bears Painted wings Things I almost remember, And a song someone sings once upon a december
Someone holds me safe and warm, horses prance through a silver storm, Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory,
Someone holds me safe and warm, horses prance through a silver storm, Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory,
Far away, long ago things I yern to remember and a song someone sings Once upon a December
And a song someone sings Once upon a December."

Johnny's eyes grew heavy with tears. He remembered his mother mentioning the song or humming it sometimes when she was alone. She even had a music box that played the song when wound up. The boy sniffed, curling up into a ball on his bed and pulling the covers about him. "...I miss dad..." he wheezed, falling over into the pillow to cry. His shoulders shook but he wasn't angry with his father. He was never angry, never asked why he did what he did. Johnny understood the reason all too well when his mother explained it to him. But that didn't make the hurt any less sharpened. "Lily, I miss dad..."

Lily frowned not really expecting to make the boy cry, but she figured it was probably for the best. She pulled her legs unto the bed indian style and reached out to pat his back.
"I know Johnny I know. It's going to be okay," she rubbed his back and hummed a bit trying to comfort him not sure just how well it was working. "It's going to be okay Johnny, you'll see."
She really wished Alex was there, she was better at this sort of thing when he was around. She was floundering a bit at the moment. She lay down on the bed facing Johnny and petted his head.
"Do you want me to sing some more? I didn't mean to make you cry, but crying will help you feel a little better cause sometimes you just have to let it out. You can't keep all the sadness in, its not good for you?"

Johnny managed one deep, somewhat ragged breath, pulling the covers closer to him. "No... but thanks, Lily." he wheezed, nestling himself further into the pillow. Somehow, Lily's song made him feel a lot better. Like a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. Perhaps it was being given the opportunity to grieve that helped alleviate some of his pain. The boy yawned against his will and he shut his eyes. "...I gotta..." Another yawn. "....go get the laundry... soon..." Johnny's eyes drifted shut before he could really finish the thought. He hadn't slept well for days after his father's death and this was a welcome reprieve from the weariness that clung to his bones. Kaori_luv Zzzz goes the Johnny~ Lily's good with lullabies. Lily gave a smile as Johnny fell asleep talking about laundry, she almost laughed despite the fact that boy had been crying just moments earlier because only Johnny would have laundry on his mind at a time like this.
"Don't worry about it," she whispered after she was pretty sure he was sleep, shifting very careful so that she could get off the bed. She tiptoed out of the room, grabbing the paper flowers on the way out and headed to get the laundry for Johnny.
She hoped he wouldn't feel guilty or anything, there would be more dirty stuff that need cleaning soon she was sure. Truthfully, the kitchen would be a mess after Lily's attempt at making feel better cookies, which she'd feel really bad about because Johnny and probably Alex too would insist on helping get it clean again.
The paper flowers they would notice were set up on in a vase on top the piano in the living room, sans the water of course.Lucifer Force Lol lol lol lol lol Lilibies XD <3 And Fin~
