The 31st Street Bridge was old-relic of a bygone era of the roaring twenties, servicing neighborhoods that had no doubt been prosperous shopping centers and meeting places for society's respectables. Sidewalks allowed foot traffic to cross as well as vehicular, spanning all along the bridge, and viewing platforms little used anymore allowed any who cared to take in the winterized, ice-traffic of the river below. Either shore were lit up with street lamps and windows, everyone home from rush hour and into dinner at 7 o'clock.

Lt. Schörl was not. She was looking out from one of the observation decks, considering which neighborhood to try. Which had the best chances of something interesting or pertinent. Something to add to the war effort in information or in the end of an enemy. There wasn't much that indicated favor for one or the other of the ends of the bridge, except that she'd walked through one already to get where she was. The answer was to keep moving forward.

A green street sign on an over-hang for the purpose indicated that St. Magdalena’s Seminary was at a turnoff and a few blocks from the bridge. Nun's and troubled little pretties. Schörl sucked her teeth aloud.

It was not often that Eternal Sailor Tsui felt a Chaos aura ping so close to her home, and in truth, it made her worried. She was a very diligent Senshi and she took her patrols very, very seriously, and though the aura she felt was not too strong, the fact that it was very, very close to her home, to Maddy, and the sisters of St. Mag's, the Senshi of Tigers was quick to react.

She had thrown a half-assed excuse to Maddy as she snuck out the window, jumping onto the tree and making her way towards the source of the aura. She knew that whoever it was would be able to sense her and she rather hoped that the strength of her own aura would be enough to chase away whoever it was that was prancing by so close to home. She didn't want to bring Maddy into this- the last thing she wanted was for something to happen to her sister... and she was determined to get the point across to the intruder, screw the White Moon's reputation.

'I'll worry about fixing our bad PR once I send this Negaverser packing!' Tsui thought to herself, running towards the 31st Street Bridge, senses on alert and primed for a possible fight. Maybe she'd be lucky and they'd be willing to step off, but if not, then the tiger would defend her territory, mercilessly.

It was around the time that the Negaverse lieutenant was reached the final stretch of the bridge when Tsui spotted her, and the Tiger Senshi made her intentions clear from the very get go. No time for witty banter. No time for introductions. Just a simple, "You better turn yourself around right now, if you know what's best for you!"

She looked over the intruder, suspecting her to be a lieutenant but not allowing her defenses to drop. She had met many first level opponents whose guts and pure rage more than compensated for the rank difference... who knew what kind of power and determination this lieutenant may have been packing?

Schörl quirked calmly, the approach of a wide, strong aura that dwarfed the region in whatever sunshine and daisies one cared to imagine. "Fluffy....."

This one could be a throwback to the eighties with the Flashdance mid-drifting and leg warmers. Maybe the girl couldn't decide if she liked it hot or cold. "Careful, pet. PETA Might have to throw blood on you for that sort of getup."

"Last I checked, the sidewalks were still public property."

There were feathers clashing with the fur- wings sprouted off her rear. Were they attached? How did those fit into her anatomy? Schörl summoned her crop to hand just the same, "Siegfried & Roy called, they want their kitten back in her cage. Do you play, little kitten?"

Tsui was no stranger to the Negaverse, nor their cheeky insults. On a normal day, she'd get a chuckle out of what witty phrases or insults would come from her enemy, as well as her allies, as she had to admit that her attire was interesting enough to warrant such remarks. And on a normal day, the lieutenant's quips were rather witty and genuinely funny.

But today, Tsui wasn't in the mood. She never felt a Chaos aura so close to home, and while she knew that her home wasn't bullet proof, she couldn't risk anyone getting so close. Especially not when her pregnant mother was on her way to visit... yes, perhaps it was the thought of her mother and unborn baby brother that was causing the Tiger to be super defensive, but still she tried to remember her position in the White Moon Court. She give her a chance to walk away first, before getting down to the fight, and Tsui tried to hold onto that plan.

Even when she moved a step closer to Schörl, as she summoned her weapon to her hand, a clear indication that she was willing to fight, despite the rank difference. "Oh, I play, but be warned. This 'kitten' plays rough, and this sidewalk might be public property, but the place beyond it? That's not. No Negaverse lieutenants welcomed in these parts."

She knew she sounded like either an old western cowboy or even a gangster, but she was still very serious. She had no weapon for herself besides her hands and legs, as well as her magic, and she wasn't going to back down. She'd give Schörl one last warning... it seemed fair enough, right?

Whether the Lieutenant was serious or not was difficult to tell from the outside - her smile was wide, pleasant and entertained. Inviting, even. The stray car that passed in those moments may have looked on and assumed that here was the meeting of old friends or cousins.

In her hand her crop was 75 centimeters. It was designed for quick response to the flick of a wrist- a quick sting and a noise on a horse's thick skin. A jian was usually 70 centimeters, a little over a pound and a half of metal, and would offer her a tassel for forms. The Jian type sword was for stabbing, slashing, and percussive cuts and deflections. It was one of the four prime weapons of her martial art. She knew the 49 posture form well, but she hadn't adapted it to use with her unusual weapon option. The crop had no cutting edge. It would not open the girl's arteries or veins. It could leave pretty fantastic welts...that was not a great extent of power. Could be a good distraction?

There was the limited ground offered by the bridge as well. They would be hemmed in.

Again with the young, pretty face across from her. She would not underestimate this one at all. A tiger likely knew how to strike with it's paws, even if it wasn't using northern black tiger fist. The girl was so intense. "Fervent declaration. "

Schörl started into a sprint to close the distance, swinging into a combined handless cartwheel and 'sword' arc with her crop that simulated the curve of a circle so that the momentum when her crop returned 360 degrees would double the blow impact if it hit.

Tsui had a feeling that this one wasn't simply going to play along with her tough gal act and leave, and something about her smile made Tsui especially nervous (though she could have easily blamed that on her overprotective nature at the moment.) No doubt she could feel her power, but there was no sign of hesitation or concern on her, and Tsui wasn't sure if she was hiding something grand, or truly just that eager for a beating. Either way, she seemed content to fight, and Tsui would hold nothing back in getting her away from her home and her family.

Most of Tsui's opponents had either mastered their weapons or simply resorted to hand-to-hand combat, but it seemed that Schörl was packing more than a crop and her fists. Tsui was anticipating her charge but not her cartwheel and the even more deadly swish of the crop, leaving Tsui little time to react. She tried to dodge to her left but as quick as the Eternal was, the crop slammed against her knee and there was no way for Tsui to stop the pained shout from escaping her lip but she did her best to cut it as short as possible. It stung like a b***h and no doubt would leave a welt, but there was little time to nurse her knee.

Because her dodge attempt was interrupted, Tsui tumbled to the ground but tried to use it to her advantage, using a tactic that she had seen (and experienced) from one of the Negaverse's corrupted Senshi and going for a leg sweep. All the while, Tsui's defensive nature was slowly being clouded by the rising thrill of the fight. She hadn't seem many opponents that were nimble and were willing to use cartwheels in a fight- had she not been so deathly close to her home, she'd admire the lieutenant, but that didn't mean she'd hold anything back from her sweeping leg attack, making sure to use her good leg instead.

A counter attack was in her mind as possible, but Schörl was pleasantly surprised at the choice of how it was inflicted on her. The sailor girl was fast, ever so much faster, with the superior magic coursing through her, than the lieutenant was. Schörl reminded herself this was all a good thing. She needed to know what to expect from every level of the enemy, dangerous or not. An ignorant soldier was never a leader.

The key was surviving enough battles, scars included, to no longer be a fool and become that leader.

She had only the time that a gravity fall allowed her to turn on her hip and put down a hand to prevent her head knocking the pavement as she fell. It was a martial artist's fall, one of practice and being the dummy to throws on mats hundreds of times. But mats were so much softer than concrete, and the "ooph" of air leaving her lungs was inevitable. Her hip would have a nasty bruise in a few hours.

Schörl flipped up, heaving stomach, back and legs in a cantilever to be standing again, facing the Senshi for another go. No use both wallowing around on the ground - t'ai chi applied to actual battle was not a ground/grappling art like juijitsu, wrestling, sambo or others. Getting in a fight like that would be suicide. "Good play."

Despite her experience and many, many battles, Tsui was always grateful to get a blow in, which would often lead her to get a little really overconfident and the battle would proceed to go poorly for her until either the enemy made a mistake or she lucked out. Tsui had just turned Eternal, and she was still trying to get used to the upgraded strength and speed she now possessed, as she watched Schörl fall backwards and hit the ground. She wanted to celebrate, but the notion was cut short when the lieutenant flipped right back up to her feet.

This told Tsui two things. First of all, that her opponent was highly skilled in some sort of mystical Asian art training and thus was nimble and quick to recover. Secondly, this fight was going to be very, very fun, as well as very challenging.

Normally, Tsui would welcome a good fight- she had little fear for injury and what didn't kill someone would inevitably make them stronger, right? However, as thrilling as the fight could be, she had to take it elsewhere. Away from here, from Maddy and the other tenants. She gave a spat, standing to her feet and giving a pained hiss when the injury to her knee swelled up again. She didn't want to see what this lietenant's weapon would eventually evolve into, and she considered going straight to her magic to try and repel her back to the other side of the bridge, at least to where she could fight comfortably and not have to worry about some civilian, especially one she knew, getting injured.

Still, she wasn't going to reject a compliment, and the way she held her arms across her chest would have been a clear indication that she was about to strike out again. "Thanks. I do my best... though I don't think you want to see my best at the moment. Not yet. Last warning..."

A 'last' warning? As though Schörl were somehow just ignorant of the difference in their fields, or hadn't made a conscious choice to stay on the bridge in the first. True enough, arguments could be made about strategic retreats and gentleman's rules of combat. The better man offering the lesser an out, a reprieve on the admission of inferiority. Only in magic, dear. Only in raw power, for now.

"Then let my hand dare seize the fire. " She modified the quote from Blake. She didn't wait a moment longer than uttering it. The tiger was preparing to spring.

Schörl stepped in again. Close distance and strike- hoping to plant outer knee against outer knee and inside ankle to inside ankle while palm striking the side of the tiger's jaw. The lock aimed for the wounded knee. It would be slower reacting. If the locking succeeded as well as the strike, it gave a chance the Tiger might twist the joint and tear a tendon or muscle as her body shifted with the head blow.

Being that close was risky, locking them together even briefly was risky. But there was no telling whether she grabbed the tail or the head until she reached into the bushes and took hold. Schörl laughed at herself, Hopefully not the toothy end. But what will you do then anyway, if you have a tiger by its tail? You might have screwed yourself either way.

Tsui was not a trained professional when it came to fighting, and if she had to pinpoint her style of fighting, it would have been a strange hodgepodge of school yard brawling, mixed with some very amateur skills in boxing (she knew the motions but her execution was still newbie at best), and a touch of gymnastics thrown in to avoid a blow all together. And it was apparent that, with what this Negaverse lieutenant lacked in rank, she probably made up for it in technique and skill, and Tsui had fought in many battles to know now that the best course of action for her, when faced with an opponent that could kung-fu-karate fight circles around her, the best course of action was to try to dodge, and retaliate with the one distinct advantage she knew she had.

Her magic.

So when Schörl tried to close the distance and tried to attack her with fancy footwork, Tsui did her own cartwheel (though perhaps not as fancy a one as Schörl executed earlier as the injury to her leg made her rely on her hands in case her leg gave out beneath her) to try to avoid the strike all together. In truth, she had no idea what Schörl was doing and while she was intrigued, it also frustrated her to not be able to read her opponent, especially one of her rank.

But at least Tsui dodged, and the moment she planted both feet onto the ground, she spun around, wasting no time and going for something she knew that the Negaverse lieutenant could not do. White aura rose from her hands, wrist and arms like steam, and without thinking or really even aiming, Tsui charged at her opponent. "I warned you! Glorious White Tiger!*"

Perhaps it was overkill. Perhaps Tsui's pride couldn't stand the thought of a Lieutenant besting her in a fight. But Tsui wasn't willing to risk her family and she did the only thing she thought would get the Negaverse officer to leave... this was the only thought in her mind as she lunged forward, white, claw-shaped aura at her front and primed...

----------------
*Eternal Sailor Attack: Glorious White Tiger.
The energy that SailorTsui’s been collecting not only envelops her fists, but has migrated to her legs as well, and her charge is even more ferocious than ever. She starts her assault with a powerful lunge forward, adding momentum to her strike, followed by her signature Tiger Fist motion, striking downward in an X motion and knocking the enemy back even further if she is able to connect, and she uses the last bit of her energy to leap backwards to add further distance between them. Like her Super attack, she is able to aim at specific limbs and can physically stun the limb, preventing the opponent from using that limb for ten seconds. She puts absolutely everything into the attack, hoping to incapacitate or greatly weaken the enemy as she will be completely drained of power and left vulnerable for ten seconds after the blow.

*Knocks enemy back by 4 feet
*Chance to physically stun enemy for 10 seconds
*Can attack twice per battle

The dodge was well executed, taking into account wounds and bringing her out of danger's reach. Schörl's heel clacked hard on the pavement when it came down and she pivoted on the heel- tracking her enemy's arc. A shout as the girl landed- and she was moving faster than the lieutenant could easily track, a charge of some sort. Schörl got her forward arm up in defense of a blow but it wasn't a contact attack- at least not the motions and physical hands that mattered as much as the contact of the blazing white force that arcing before them in mirror of the motion. She hadn't expected that.

There was the quick, staccato scrapping of heels over concrete- she was flying backwards. Air thrust out her lungs as the steel side handrail of the bridge plowed into her back-
Momentum
Vertigo and the crossing steelwork of the bridge swinging into vision instead of the girl - no, that meant she was being pitched, flipped, back over the handrail. Still going. Open night sky in a flash, then an upside-down view of the banks and river water below. Schörl had been thrown back and flipped over the rail in a second.

Neither the tail nor tooth. A good tactic on a bridge fight...can't be attacked if you throw them off the bridge. 'Glorious white tiger'... And her muscles wouldn't follow direction- 'reach out!' 'grab the side!'
It went unheeded and she toppled, stunned, a flight down the distance to the icy river below. As she broke the surface, ice cutting in around her uniform, she felt her body coming again to life. Need to find up, find surface, find air-no, no I'll be visible then. It's Cold...hypothermia sets fast. WORK ARMS. Current is swift, don't surface yet, she could give chase. Maybe she won't. She could follow the power signature? No, I need the strength and speed to get out of this ******** river. To make it to shore in a few minutes downstream. Swim. What comes will come.

Schörl stayed submerged, current dragging her body along, bouncing off some unseen bracken in the murk. She wasn't about to open her eyes under river water. But she found down, hands reaching into sludgy goo a few feet down. It meant she knew which way was what.

ChibiGingi

I don't know if you want her to pursue or not, or just want to give it a close there?
PostPosted: Tue Jan 22, 2013 6:25 pm

Tsui had never used the attack prior to this evening, and part of her wish she hadn't. Like her last attacks, she knew that Schörl would be sent back, and she suspected the she'd be stunned. At most, Tsui was expecting Schörl to hit the side of the bridge and crumble down onto her butt, stunned and unable to move while Tsui berated her and told her to get lost again. But she wasn't expecting to see the lieutenant flip over the side and go tumbling down, and by the time Tsui had recovered from her own attack, it was already too late. She was quick, but not quick enough to grab her as she fell over the side and plummeted into the river below.

"s**t," Tsui said, running to the side and watching her fall, hitting the water with a splash and shivering involuntarily, as if trying to imagine just how cold the water would have been for her opponent. Tsui had no fear of water, but she knew it had to be freezing in there, and that was what stopped her from jumping in after her. It wouldn't do either of them any good if both of them flailed about aimlessly in the freezing water, now would it? "s**t, I didn't mean for it to go that far!"

All the Eternal had wanted was to get her away from her home, not try to kill her! The Tiger Senshi gave chase, moving along the bank and looking for any sign of her surfacing as well as trying to sense her energy signature. Yes, she could feel it, but it didn't seem too weak... still, it was something worth worrying about, as she was certain that even Negaverse officers couldn't breathe underwater nor were they meant to handle such low temperatures.

She had felt the lieutenant but she couldn't see her, and now Tsui was having another problem. The sound of sirens could be heard, even as she ran along the banks of the river, and Tsui didn't need to have super hearing to know that whatever was being discussed at the top of the bridge was likely about their altercation. Tsui recalled the panicked screams from the last ordeal she had with civilians and gave a snarl, before slipping away into the shadows. No, the White Moon Court wasn't favored in this city, and no doubt that the officers were going to be coming after her instead, so Tsui reluctantly ran into the best cover she could find, a fence draped in tarps and netting, and dehenshined, knowing that by doing this she'd be giving up her chance to sense Schörl but instead going for a different tactic. She screamed at the two officers, just as they were moving towards the bank, and she hoped that her screams were frantic enough to where they paid more attention to her words than to where Tsui had retreated to and where Gwendolyn Caspian had emerged.

"Help! Help! That girl fell into the river!" Gwen said, pointing to the river and trying to spot her still, not wanting to think of the possibility of Schörl drowning but unable to bring herself to go in after her. Had she sat down and thought about her actions, she'd be ashamed that she seemed to care so much on the life of a Negaverse officer, but... she wasn't a murderer, nor would be ever become one. 'Come on... surface already! I... I can't go in after you and fight off the police!'

Ivynian
I think once Tsui/Gwen realizes that she's at least able to surface, we can call it a close. If that's okay? Otherwise, we can keep it ambiguous and give Tsui/Gwen quite the guilt trip, if you like.

The power signature vanished. Had she gone far enough down river? Underwater and under ice there wasn't a point of reference to judge distances by. So what did that bring her to? Schörl was running out of air and her diaphragm was seizing with the cold. It was time to risk it. The lieutenant reoriented so that she was facing the ostensible 'up' and started kicking the ice above her to free a path. It would compromise the immediate area's structural integrity, but there was no use trying to climb out on ice the in dead center of a river where the water stayed swiftest and the ice could grown no more than one or two inches in depth.

Enough thrashing and she broke through, a very cold, pale...very clothed mermaid exploding waist up above the ice and slurry to attractively vomit out the water that had gotten in while she was stunned and gasp for oxygen. All while scrabbling along in the drag against the breaking ice of the center lane to try to gain purchase and draw out on the stronger ice closer to shore.

She was still drifting, tens of feet becoming more and more by the second from the bridge and sirens. She didn't need involvement from cops. They would ask too many questions. She took three deep breaths to expand her aching lungs, then on the third dipped herself under the ice current again and actively swam with the flow. Downstream.

Will have to remember this kitten..whatever she is here protecting on beyond this bridge. I cannot attempt this crossing as I am. Get help or be patient...it will take some thought.

ChibiGingi
Guilt is delicious, but I try to wait until the second or third to guilt others characters on a date~ But really, whatever works best for what you've got planned for Tsui! She can see her or not, or worry that she got hypothermic and went under or feel relieved and certain that evil will strike again. It's all fun.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 23, 2013 11:19 am

It was a small glimpse, but a glimpse nonetheless, a sliver of hope and well needed relief for Gwen to see Schörl surface. Even if it was for a brief moment, it was enough to tell Gwen that the lieutenant was going to make it, and with that, the incognito Senshi moved back up the bank and began to make her escape back home before the police could think to question her, or Maddy grew suspicious of her sudden absence. She couldn't have left until she was certain that Schörl was alive, as strange as it might have been for a member of the White Moon Court to care for the well being of an enemy.

Not that Gwen necessarily cared but more like adding more salt to her already wounded conscious. If she had felt so terrible after beating poor Carnelian to a pulp, then how would she feel if she had... she didn't even want to finish that thought, and thankfully, there was no need to. Schörl was alive and well, and there was no doubt that the two of them would meet again in the future.

That made her heart skip a beat, and a worm of fear made its way into the normally courageous Senshi of Tigers. Schörl had not only survived a blow from her Eternal attack, but she survived a very long fall and fell into an icy river, and she was still alive. Either she was extremely lucky, or... Schörl was a lot stronger than she looked, and now that she had survived, she would only get stronger. And she WOULD be back!

And yet, all Gwen could do was give a nervous laugh, as she made her way home, relying on the alleyways she was used to to slip by unnoticed. "So, this is what karma feels like... well, I look forward to facing you at your strongest, Schörl. But next time, I won't hold back!"

She may have been tasting her own hubris, for what she had done to General Benitoite many months ago, but for now, Gwen would simply have to take comfort in knowing that Schörl would live to fight another day, and that her home, her sister, was safe. For now.

Ivynian
Sounds good to me! Hope this helped in what you needed to do and let me know if you ever want a rematch! ^_^
