Today was probably the first of a scarce few days of the entire year that Arashi did not physically look her best; some parts of her "normal" fur more matted and some dirt splashed along her coat. This was also one of the scarce and rare days where, while she felt she was completely alone, that she was "letting herself go" and relaxing from her usual all business, serious, and even uptight exterior. The perfect hot weather and nearly cloudless skies just got the best of her today, along with her comfortably full stomach and inner peace she felt with the world. Not to say that her coat was a huge mess, but it was a little messy and somewhat noticeable. She didn't really notice it too much, but if she were to she would be greatly disappointed on how she was presenting her body.
However, there was the slightest hint of a lion's scent, lioness to be exact, somewhere wafting through the air, but it seemed too miniscule to truly be worried over. Besides, she was trying to really live in this little moment that she had found, the very type of moment that constantly seemed to elude her every day of the year for the most part. So, she tried to block it out from her mind as best as she could and stared into the bright blue of the sky above her.

 A'nna always noticed.
Though she would not have attributed it to fault of narcissism, the lioness was constantly checking her reflections in the surface of water. It had come to the point where she felt, and knew, which side of her head her hair fell onto. She preferred it on the left side, and was constantly tossing it back as the strands fell into her eyes.
When A'nna did not feel clean, she felt unhealthy. The desert may have been sandy, but it was also dry, and so A'nna revered baths and cleanliness as a statement of care, wealth, and well-being.
So, with the recent rains having passed through, A'nna sat down to wash the mud and mat away from her coat. Having recently found a source of water to drink, her tongue was quite moist. The amount of hair that stuck to her tongue, however, was much less tasteful.
It was about then that a cheetah crossed her path. The Dawnwalkers had not had such beasts skirting their flanks, and A'nna believed them to be thieves above all else. At the moment, however, she had nothing to steal. Instead, the lioness watched the creature carefully, waiting to see what it would do.

It took Arashi a few excruciatingly long moments before the scent of a new creature wafted through her barrier of total relaxation and focus. Her heart raced immediately at the notice that it belonged to another predator and her eyes widened as she twisted her lithe body back onto its stomach and pointed in the direction of the source of the scent. It belonged to a lion, a creature she would have brief encounters with very rarely, and mainly when she had taken down a catch when they had come to steal it away from her. But she didn't have any food, so what was this lioness doing looking at her in such a way..?
Oh, but of course; she was probably observing her dim and foolish behavior that she assumed when she had those rare days throughout the year where she just totally zonked out and such, as well as the fact that she was very poor presented right now with her fur matted and coated partly with the dry dust that she had rolled in. Arashi very, very swiftly jumped to her paws in attention and shook her coat strongly to send the dust from her body in little clouds as she sat down in order to flatten her fur briefly and quickly with some swipes of her tongue.
"Hello," she greeted rather flatly, very neutrally spoken yet still rather caught off guard by the lioness. She took the opportunity to size her up and look her over, and she couldn't help but note that she was pretty. Really pretty.

A'nna's head jerked up, ears going forwards. The lioness was at a complete stop now, eyes moving over the cheetah.
"Hi," she spoke, slowly, hanging onto the words as long as she could before they escaped her mouth.
By now, A'nna was used to being approached. A pretty face was often believed to be a trustworthy face, and so even if attraction was absent, a sense of safety was often present. They were probably not inaccurate in their assessment--A'nna had no desire to fight except in self defense.
"Can I help you?"
