Swimming pools weren't exactly Sibyl's thing. She preferred natural water, chasing fish and penguins and having fun splisysplashing around without a care in the world. But sometimes swimming with other people was fun too, and so she'd give the pool a try. It was as she expected, limiting and not as fun as a lake and the water tasted funny and kind of hurt her eyes, but everyone was there.
And so there was a five-foot-long brown seal lurking to one side of the pool, her large teal eyes peering just over the surface while the rest of her body was hidden just beneath.
Like a big blobby seal iceburg.
She was simply waiting for her next playmate.

Jay was not the kind of bluebird that waltzed into Amityville or town very often. She preferred to remain inside the reserve performing lair tasks, but during one of her rare visits to town she had heard of a fabled swimming pool that had been recently refurbished. Apparently this renovation had been absolutely fantastic, since the pool had grown significantly popular from what she could tell.
Against her better judgment, the horseman of war chose to visit this fabled pool. Cue the warrior slowly treading through the waters due to the drag her wings caused. Her entire body was submerged in water save for her top head and her expression seemed rather similar to =v=. Yes, she was more suited for aerial combat, but at least she wasn’t completely helpless should she find herself grounded in water. OAO!! She stopped when she noticed a giant seal in the pool.
OVO Was that a minipet? She cautiously paddled closer.

A scareling splashed past Sibyl with his mother, his little floaty wings keeping him where it was safe along the surface. It please Sibyl to see so many potential friends here! She was completely unaware of the horseman staring at her, simply because there were so many others around and she had never encountered a horseman before. Simply put, Sibyl wouldn't tell one from a normal demon or monster unless they straight up told her.
She simply bobbed about in the water, flapping her fins and nearly colliding with her would-be stalker. Sibyl gasped, backing off while bobbing up and down in the water. She opened her mouth to apologize only to swallow a bit of water instead, coughing and spluttering up water.
Well, this was a great first impression.

Jay stopped and closed her eyes as the seal bumped into her. She opened them back up to stare back at the student. The creature opened its mouth as if to say something, but only drank water and coughed. The warrior smiled as she lifted her head and began to tread through the water, her hands moving back and forth as she kept her shoulders clearly above water.
“You’re cute.” She smiled, a plan clearly formulating in her head. “I’ll take you home with me.” Clearly this was a brilliant plan, so she tugged the seal to the shallow end so she could drag her out and take her to the reserve.

She managed to hear the compliment about being cute over her coughing and splashing, righting herself just in time for the ghoul to tell her she was being taken home. Okay! That sounded fun! Yay new friends! Again, Sibyl was about to give her approval until she was grabbed and tugged across the pool's length through the crowd. Instead all she could manage was a squeak of surprise before she just flapped her fins to help her along. "Yaaaaay!" She could make introductions when they were out of the water.

Jay could have sworn the minipet said “yay,” but the bluejay was pretty sure it was only her imagination. Minipets weren’t supposed to talk. She finally dragged the seal to the edge of the pool and hopped out first. She squeezed the water out of her hair and stared down at her wet feathers. Oh well. As the horseman bent down to pull out the pet, she quickly realized this creature was pretty big. “Wow, I think you’re about as tall as I am! That’s weird. I thought you guys weren’t supposed to be very big.” She scratched her cheek while curiously looking at Sibyl, but then she shrugged before tossing the seal over her shoulders.
Sibyl may have been Jay’s size, but the warrior knew how to cart heavy things around.

Sibyl was actually very impressed that she was picked up and put onto the ground beside the pool. She flapped her fins, her blubbery body jiggling as she rolled around and flopped on the ground. You guys? Oh, seals? Sibyl giggled. "S'cause I--" And then she was picked up, squeaking loudly with surprise. Wait...wait..! New friend! "W-wait! I needs my clothes, new friend!" Some Halloween people didn't like her running around naked! Silly but true...and she didn't want to offend anyone!

The jiggling blubber was sort of mesmerizing, this Jay refused to admit aloud. But the way her eyes seemed to linger on the seal implied otherwise. She failed to hear Sibyl the first time, but the second time caused the warrior to stop and turn toward the seal. She scrutinized the creature for a good minute before she concluded curtly, “Oh, you’re a student.”
Disappointed veiled her words as she promptly dropped Sibyl and looked around. “Okay, where is it?” She could have walked off, but this student was sort of cute in this form too, even if she wasn’t a minipet. Jay could take her back to the sanctuary and everything would still be hunky dory, right? Maybe?Eight In which I tag forever to tag oops

The lady hadn't known she was a student? How weird! Sibyl blinked, her large teal eyes staring up at the ghoul with confusion. Oh no! She made her feel bad! Noooooooo!
When she was dropped she squeaked, rolling onto her back. Suddenly the brown fur went slightly translucent, those big eyes going white and lifeless...and then a hand, a human looking hand, reached out of the mouth of the seal. The hand was followed by an arm, a shoulder, and finally a head. "S'over there.." She flapped and pointed, pulling herself out of the seal skin and wrapping it around her waist like a skirt. Her hair, unbraided and long, fell over her shoulders and covered up any..taboo areas. It was clearly still the same ghoul with those same large eyes, her tan skin and the large brown blotches on her shoulders, elbows, back and around her eyes. They resembled the spots of the seal she had been only a moment ago.
Sibyl walked away to gather up her bag, tossing on a large, baggy sweater and pulling her hair free. Boots were next, and then when she was finally ready she hurried back to her new friend. "Readies~!"

Jay narrowed her eyes when the seal appeared to “die,” which was funny because the seal was a student and Halloween creatures in general didn’t just keel over and—oh. Her expression remained the same as she watched a distinctly human hand come out of the mouth. Then the hand transformed into an arm, a shoulder, and a head. To someone else it might have been disconcerting, but the horseman of war had seen worse despite her supposed youth.
“Indeed,” she chirped as she casually continued to stare at Sibyl even as she wrapped the skin around her waist. Her gaze still in sea green slits, she took in the spots dotted on the student’s body as well as the identical eyes. “That’s interesting,” she noted. “…what’re you again?” Human lore was not her strong point, to say the least.
Then she shrugged and held out a hand for Sibyl to take before leading her toward the reserve. “Good!” Her free hand stroked her hand as she pondered what to do with her new pet friend. “Oh, I’m Jay by the way. Did I tell you that yet? I can’t remember.”

"I'm a Selkie!" Sibyl announced proudly, putting her hands on her hips and puffing out her chest. She reached for the offered hand afterward with a happy little squeal, swinging their hands between them with the happiest of happy tunes hummed as they walked. "My name's Sibyl! S'nice to meetses youuuuu~. Where're we going?" She turned large teal up eyes up to Jay, eagerly following her despite not even knowing where they were going. "Are you a birdie?" She'd never met a horseman before either...

She would’ve told Sibyl she had no clue what a selkie was, but she opted not to when she realized how rude that could be. “I see,” Jay replied. Her lips tugged into a tiny smile as she allowed the student to swing her arm back and forth and she mirrored the tune. “Oh! Yes. Jay. My name is Jay. It’s also a pleasure to meet you.” She supposed. “To the horsemen reserve.”
At her question, she stopped and looked at her back. Jay wiggled her wings playfully. “What do you think?”

Despite Jay explaining where they were going...Sibyl still had no idea. What was a horseman? A pony? She liked ponies! She liked everything except dragons and sharks and whales. "You're a pretty birdy!" Sibyl announced happily in reply to Jay's question, grinning from ear to ear. It completely flew over her head that horsemen reserve meant Jay was a horseman. She had wings and looked like a bird, this made her a bird.

Jay had to wonder if the selkie understood what she had just said. “You got all of that, right?” She warily quirked an eyebrow at Sibyl before she shrugged it off. Well, maybe being ignorant was a good thing.
“Thank you!” she chirped. “My wings are like that uuum, that bird thing in the human world. Jay? I think it’s called a jay also?” Maybe that was why her parents had always called her ‘Jay’. Hmmm. Before arriving at the reserve, they entered the forest. She hummed idly and continued to swing her arm back and forth.

Sibyl tilted her head to one side. "Yes! I've got it!" She held up her clothes, completely misinterpreting what Jay was asking she got. She'd understand eventually. The human world had Jays too? Whoaaaa so many Jays! Did they all look the same? That'd be interesting. How could they tell one another apart? Maybe they just dressed differently. As they entered the forest Sibyl made an awed sound, looking around at everything they were walking through while letting Jay swing their hands. Cooooool!
