(( I thought of something like one signed up for something they really wanted and the other gets stuck with something they don't like but sticks it out because their new friend asked them to. Will that work? )) It was Career Day in Phonyland for all the young phonies who'd like to try their hand at working at a real job (with a designated guide, of course) for one day. Knots and a lot of other Phonies, some even slightly older than she was, were looking at the sign up sheets all pinned to a large board outside in the school yard.

Moth-Drops knew a lot of things, but not at all what she really wanted to be when she grew up- so when Career Day rolled around, she knew that it would be in her best interest to go. At the very least, she could figure out what she hated and would never ever do again. But as she approached, her optimism began to wane. The schoolyard was so crowded! There were so many phonies, and she just wasn't sure how she felt about fighting her way to the board with the sign-up sheets. But somebody familiar flashed into her vision as she scanned the crowd and suddenly, things seemed a little less intense. She could stand by Knots, who she'd met when she'd gone over to Mandrake's to help with vegetables! At the very least, she wouldn't get crushed. "Hi, Knots!" she called as she trotted over to the green unicorn's side. Seeing somebody she knew made her feel a lot less nervous. [If you guys need adults with jobs to interact with, I've got a bookstore owner, a drummer, and a gaming store co-owner to toss out!]

Cirrus didn’t know why he even bothered coming to school, but he had promised Lullaby that he would and so here he was. Mr. Snuggles the bear had been tied to his back, its head flopping back and forth as the Pegasus trotted up towards the career boards. When he reached the back of the crowd, he stopped and stared morosely at their behinds, certain that his particular career idea would not be included. There was no respect for fortune tellers these days. Oh wait, there was someone he knew… Cirrus had spied Knots amongst the group but didn’t push forward to say hello yet. “In a moment, she looks busy…” He murmured quietly to Mr. Snuggles.

"Ahoy, Moth-Drops!" Knots said as the winged filly joined her. "I don't see sailing on any of these darn lists. All the really fun ones are gone, too. Zoo keeper's gone, pet store owner went first, the bakery list is currently being fought over..." Knots watched young phonies somewhat older and larger than she was fighting over another list, the list slowly turning into confetti. "I'm not sure I know what that list used to be," she sighed. "See anything you like?"

Behind the morose looking colt trotted Country Kitchen. His mother had told him he needed to socialize mroe and to think more on the future of cooking. Not everything could be learned inside a kitchen. Kit wasn't too sure about that but he decided to come to the career fair anyway. His draft genes made him a bit taller so he could see over the others looking at the list. He was about to comment when he glanced down at the pale colt next to him. Woah! This feller looked like he needed a good meal! He also seemed to be speaking to the stuffed animal on his back. Well, everyone had their favorite toy. Kit's was his Easy Bake Range and Oven. "Howdy friend!," he said to Cirrus in his usual jovial manner, "You're lookin a might be peeked! You need some vittles?"

Dwarfed by the colt beside him, Cirrus blinked owlishly up at Country Kitchen. “… no… it’s kind of you to ask, but we’re not hungry.” He looked sullenly back at the crowd, where some of the others were fighting over who got the last spot as a museum attendant.
His tea leaves had been surprisingly positive this morning, though so far he wasn’t enjoying himself at all.
Cirrus let out a sigh and gave a weak smile at the colt beside him, and then he spotted a list completely untouched by anyone. “Oh…” A gap in the crowd appeared and so he took the chance to trot forward and inspect it.
Work Experience: Janitorial Staff, it read.
Figuring it was probably what he’d end up with anyway, considering how everyone was carrying on over the better jobs; Cirrus put his name down and hoped someone nice would join him.

Hydrangea trotted nervously towards the group, watching the fillies and colts fight over the sign up list. He saw his sister somewhere up at the front with a Pegasus pony he had never seen before. Of course with his nose always in his plants and garden....he hadn't really met many others.
And then there was a really really tall colt dwarfing a very pale looking pegasus. His heart skipped a few beats. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to come here after all... he already had his cutie mark and knew what it was that he wanted to do.... he could just go on home...right...maybe....? Instead, he huffed down a gulp and tried to work his way into the crowed, but a few pushes and bumps sent him stumbling back and landing on his rump near Cirrus and Country Kitchen. "Ow.... that hurt." he said and rubbed his eyes with a hoof, blinking over at the paper Cirrus just signed. "Oh....is that what you want to do?" he tilted his head thinking the little pegasus didn't seem suited for something like that and wondering if he should sign up too just to see.... Hyd had a bet that all the gardening jobs were already taken.

Country smiled at the boy as he kindly refused his offer of food. Still kid looked pale, he needed some good vittles to brighten him up. Sadly Kit had not brought much in the way of food to this event seeing as it was about careers and not cooking. He looked over the heads of all the others who were present, seeing the baking sheet and the cake decorating sheet had already filled up quickly.
He didn't like his odds, but then agian he was a little late. A trait he most likely earned from his wandering father. Kit noticed his new friend signing up for one that didn't seem to have many names on it. Hmm...janitorial....well that meant cleaning didn't it? Heck he had experience with that! After all ya gotta clean up the kitchen after you make a mess! So he signed his name to it as well.
"Everyone's gotta clean before they can cook!" he nodded to Cirrus. Then a green phony, Hydranea, appeared from the crowd as he tried to push his way forward. Kit winced as the colt landed on his rump. Being the neighborly kinda feller he was he walked over and helped the boy up. "Gracious! Yall best be careful! Don't want to take a tumble now."

Cirrus looked around as Hydrangea fell over alongside them, his wings giving a little flutter. “Do be careful.” He advised quietly and then answered the others question with a small shake of his head. “No… I have another destiny. But this will have to do for now…”
The little Pegasus looked really quite pleased that Country had also signed up. The larger colt seemed like fine company. Maybe once they were done with whatever cleaning duties were involved in the task, they could all sit around, have some tea and he could read their futures.
Yes, that sounded marvellous. Cirrus even managed a smile at that thought.

Hyd blinked up at the taller colt, grateful for his help. "Oh thank you...." he said all embarrassed like and attempted to dust himself off. "Oh my tail is now a mess!" he gasped, frantically prancing in a circle, trying to clean it before he gave up and just sighed and gave up. He squinted his eyes and focused hard on his unicorn magic to magically whisk the dust away. It works... for about two seconds before it failed. He grunted and wished he had packed his brush.
He glanced again at the paper, seeing now that the bigger colt had signed up too. Cleaning was like taking care of his mane and tail right? Making things look sparkly and nice..... he could do that. "Can... I join you three?" he tilted his head, timidly signing his name on the paper.

Kit smiled as the other colt looked happy to have company. He liked making new friends. The pale colt seemed to be like him, he knew what he wanted to do but perhaps this gave some skills they could all us. "Whelp I agree with ya there! Im gonna be a chef just like my Maw but i suppose knowing how to clean all proper like could help me learn."
He watched the green colt run in circles as he tried to dust off his tail. Kit couldn't say much since he usually had flour all over himself. Its hard to see at times when you are nearly all white. At his question Kit smiled broadly, "Why you shore nough can! Dont see no reason why not. We can be the Colt Cleaning Company!"

Knots looked at the others pairing off and gave a sigh, glancing over the lists and struggling to find a sign up sheet, ANY sign up sheet! She figured learning about new skills was better than not having any, at all.
"Help wanted at the Phonyland Florist," she read out loud. "No experience necessary, learn to arrange flowers for all occasions: birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, weddings, yadda yadda..."
Taking her school pencil from her side bag, she signed in her name.

Now there were three of them. They could all learn the art of cleanliness together. How grand!
His gaze slid sideways, spying Knots putting her name on a list. Leaving his two companions to talk for a moment, he trotted over to inspect what she had chosen. A florist?
That sounded more interesting than being a janitor, but he’d already placed his name down and it didn’t seem right to go back on it now. Even if it seemed that so far Knots was alone in her choice.
“Hello Knots.” He murmured with a soft smile.

"Hiya, Cirrus," Knots said, adjusting her captain's cap and looking at a pinned map for where the florist was located. "Find anything good? I found a florist. I guess that's kind of like gardening, right? Do florists grow their own flowers?"
Knots saw the crowd thinning a bit as they all went to their one-day job. She sighed and put the pencil back into her pack.
"Still, this beats actually sitting in class."

“I have chosen to discover the path of a professional cleaner.” He answered firm nod of his head, perhaps trying to make it sound more interesting than it actually was.
Cirrus glanced around, waiting to see if anyone else would join Knots. His little group would have to leave soon. “I’ll wait with you, if you like…?” He offered quietly. “Until somebody signs up the florist as well.”
It only seemed right. He didn’t want her left all alone.
