Chatura stretched, uncurling from where she'd been sleeping, shaking mane from face and giving the ends of her tail a quick grooming with her teeth whilst they were in reach. That done, she slowly got to her hooves, stretching each leg in turn and then turning her head and neck this way and that until she felt she'd worked out all the kinks from sleeping.

She turned on the spot, looking around to see if Sastimos was awake or not, peering across from where she had slept to the other side of the cave that they were calling home for now. When they had decided to stay together, neither had returned home, and they had not tried to seek out either ones home together. Instead together they had chosen a place where they could wait out the winter, and for once she was grateful she'd spend so much time seeking out predators to talk to (and putting her life in danger) as it was invaluable when it came to finding somewhere safe.

The mare had suggested they stay away from areas of high animal population which meant food would be a little scarcer, but also that there would be less competition for what there was, and less chance of wandering predatory animals or Soquili. So far, beyond the fact that winter had started to properly bite, their time had passed fairly peacefully and she had gotten to like the stallion more and more, though she occasionally thought of her mother and hoped she wasn't fretting too much.

'Sastimos?' she called softly, in case he was still sleeping.

They had stumbled upon the cave almost by accident while searching for a place to stay. If the spirits hadn't called out to Sastimos in unison, he would probably have passed it and they would not be here now. It was somewhat small, but it was cozy and it was perfect for the two of them. She had been right to stay away from populated areas, he had followed her directions with no doubt that she knew best. Since inhabiting the cave, all he had seen so far was a couple squirrels and a rabbit, but no predators which was reassuring.

Their time together was nothing glamorous as of yet. It had consisted of a lot of searching for shelter and then for food. But the small conversations they did have and the bonding they shared while exploring made him feel very close to her now. He was not worried about whether or not the herd was missing him. Most of them had not even known he existed because he was such a new member. He was a little worried about her family, but hoped they would understand.

He peeked an eye open to look at her now. He had awoken early and had decided to meditate so as not to wake her. He smiled and looked at her in the dark of the cave, morning light spilling onto the floor.

"Good morning, Chatura," he said moving to his feet slowly and stretching as she had done.

'Oh you are awake.'

Chatura wondered how long he had been awake, she'd not heard any movement from his side of the cave, if he had been awake, had he been doing that meditating thing he spoke of? She wondered how he could stay still so long, he had yet to teach her that as they had been settling into the new location, but as it had been a while she thought of bringing it up.

'Morning to you to. It smells like a dry, fresh day today.' she said, heading to the cave entrance and looking out, squinting and turning her head away as she caught the wintery sunlight in eyes that had not adjusted yet.

'Yes, it is.'
The mare walked slowly out, listening and then looking once the sun spots had stopped dancing across her vision, turning and speaking again.

'Hungry, thirsty? I was going to graze, and take a drink. Did you want to join me?' she asked Sastimos. She could as well go by herself but then there would be no conversation to be had.

"So it seems," he said, also squinting as he glanced in the direction of the daylight. He stepped out after her, wanting to keep an eye on her. It had been a while since the day that they had first met when she was running from a predator. Though they hadn't had any run-ins since then, he still felt the need to protect her.

"I am a little hungry. And I'm sure after eating I will be quite thirsty. I would love to go with you if you will have me," he said gently, his eyes twinkling as he looked at her. His eyes had finally adjusted, and she looked beautiful in the morning light. He was too shy to say out loud it though, so he tried to say it with his eyes. Now would be a good time to catch up with her after the somewhat hectic introduction and the aftermath of deciding to stay together.

"Where will we be dining this fine morning?" he asked, slightly poking fun. There weren't many choices in the way of food, but it was fun to pretend that there was.

'You would love that would you?' Chatura said, finding the use of the word faintly amusing, but only because it felt strange to hear it over something so casual as popping out for breakfast when it hadn't been used in theproper sense as there wasn't yet that understanding between them.

'I would love if you would accompany me, above all things.' she said with a little wink at the stallion.

'Hmm..' she tilted her head, and gave the question the serious thought that it deserved.

'Anywhere with food?' she said with a little giggle, bumping her nose against his.
'Let's just walk and see where our hooves take us, though if they take us to that little stream, that would probably be okay.'

He nodded his head in agreement and bowed slightly to allow her to go first, winking back at her playfully. "Ladies first," he said politely.

As they walked, he followed her closely, still making sure to listen and look for any danger or predators. He knew they were probably safe here, especially since there was very little food or shelter around here, besides the cave. He relaxed a little after a while of walking and evened himself beside her, giving her a light bump with his behind and smiling.

"The spirits are cheerful today," he said smiling and looking around, trying to make conversation. Despite the chill in the winter air, he could hear nature all around them chirping, trickling, rustling. Everything was happy and peaceful and he was happy he could witness it and share it with Chatura.

Chatura set off at a little trot, swishing her tail behind her and occasionally pausing to cast a backwards glance at the stallion. She was sure it must be the sun that was causing her to act in such a manner, the warmth was a delight amidst the wintery surroundings, and the thought that she and Sastimos were alone together, quite apart from anyone else, was giving her a shivery sort of thrill.

At the bump on her rear, she turned once more and poked her tongue out;
'Cheeky.' she teased, and then gave a shake of her head, letting her mane fall across her face and spare her blushes over how free she was being.

'And so am I..' she said, softly, trying to rein herself in, she wanted to be easy, and natural around the stallion, and she was sure at some point they would strike up a conversation that would become a spirited back and forth debate, but at the moment..

'Oh look, there's the stream.' Chatura said, with no small relief, as she worried that her current mood would carry her into doing or saying more than it was yet time to. But then, was that not how relationships progressed? If neither of them spoke or showed how their feelings grew than spending this time together would be wasted. She realised she had fallen quiet for longer than intended and she looked up at Sastimos, hoping that he would speak and then maybe she could tell of what occupied her thoughts.

He grinned a wide and "cheeky" smile at her, or what he thought was a cheeky grin. Perhaps to her it was more like a crazed, toothy smile. His smile slipped as he imagined what he looked like. He didn't want to scare the poor girl. No, that was the last thing he wanted.

He was a little worried that she had lost interest in him by the silence she gave. He tried smiling a normal smile at her, although now she had noticed the stream. He told himself to relax. There was no need to be uptight around her...was there? Their feelings for each other were still up in the air, and if there were feelings they were still mild. He didn't want to scare her off before he got a chance to find out if there was any interest between the two of them.

He approached the stream alongside her and peered down into it. An idea struck in his mind and he looked at her and faked a worried expression. "Oh no. There's a beautiful mare trapped in the water," he said and looked at her reflection in the water with a phony pitiful look, tisking but smiling slightly at her.

'Where?' she said, puzzled, looking around for the mare and then at the stream, before she twigged and looked at Sastimos.

'Oh you.' Chatura shook her head and giggled, at herself for actually looking around and at him for his attempt at a sort of flirty, joke thing.

'That's only my reflection, and I'm sure that mare would just say that she was okay looking, and not that word.'
She knew that she looked fairly well; her mother and father were well featured so it was hard not to, but beyond that she didn't spare a thought for vanity. She stuck her nose in the stream, taking a drink.

'There, she's gone. Now you just have me. I hope you can bear that.'
PostPosted: Wed Jan 16, 2013 9:33 am

"Bear it? I don't know...you're only the best thing that has happened to me in a long time..." he said gently, taking a step towards her. He was putting it all on the line now, trying to get everything out in the open. He smiled at her warmly, hoping that she was beginning to understand how he felt about her. Knowing her, she would consider the rational side and would be more logical about her feelings. He didn't mind. He would be patient for her answer.

They had time. Time to grow, to learn about each other, to become fond of each other as the days passed. Beyond their winter vacation they had infinite time, and if she would share that time with him he would find some way to be with her no matter the cost. He saw a world of love and a future in those purple eyes of hers, saw a family. He would never be alone again and neither would she as long as she felt the same way.

He did not say any of this to her. Not yet. Was it too soon to feel this way? Yes. He would not pressure her with his wild thoughts and passionate feelings. It was too early even for him to tell if they were real, to tell if they would bloom into even bigger emotions and feelings. He only wanted her to know that he cared at this moment. That was all that mattered. They had time.

'Sastimos..' Chatura murmured, her tail gently swishing like she was a happy little canine. His words touched her, and more then the stallion could imagine. She might have been logical and questioning about his spirits, but she knew from her own parents that love wasn't logical. After all, logic would say that she shouldn't even exist; her mother was a tomboy who loved athletic pursuits, her father was like Chatura only more so.

But they had come to an understanding, which had not been easy but it had happened and she looked to their relationship as being a template for her own future happiness.

'I feel the same way. I feel you in my heart.' she smiled, shyly.
'It's scary, and exciting. You make me giddy, and I don't think I was even like that as a foal.'
PostPosted: Wed Jan 16, 2013 11:58 am

His own heart pounded heavily at her words, it was so loud he was sure she could hear it. He hoped she could, so that she would know that he could feel her in his heart as well. He had never known what love looked like. He had never seen its affect on young hearts. His parents had given him a sort of fear of love, but any fear was long gone now. Now that he knew what it felt like, now that he had her, everything was beautiful.

She had caught him by surprise with her words. He had expected the logical side of her to take control. But she was letting go it seemed, just as he was. She was right, it was scary and exciting. He had never been so nervous yet so very happy. His knees shook slightly in pure adrenaline and excitement. He didn't know what to say. He stepped closer, pulling her into a hug, holding her with all he had.

It seemed that the spirits were rushing around them in happy celebration and approval. He smiled at the way the world was cheering them on. "Do you hear it, Chatura?" he asked quietly, his heart beating to the song of the spirits, to the song of life and love.

'I hear something..' Chatura said, hesitation in her voice as was still reluctant to believe in something she could not see with her own eyes. Maybe it was just the happy little beat of her heart that was singing in her ears.

She let Sastimos hug her, returning his affection with as much of her own that she could yet give, feeling that although she had revealed much that there would be more to discover the longer they were together and the more their relationship grew.

The mare tucked her head against his neck, gently tugging on his braids, playfully so.
'Do these ever get tangled on things?' she asked, moving a little so she could see his face.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 31, 2013 8:23 pm

He felt the warmth of her embrace against him and smiled. He was so happy he thought he would melt and become one with the spirit realm. But that would mean that he would not be with her anymore, so he resisted any chances of actually melting. He chuckled as she tugged, and nipped at her mane lightly in return. Flirting had been fun, but this was ten times better. Knowing that she felt the same and wanted to be with him made the world so weightless to him.

He looked into those deep purple eyes again, and then his gaze shifted to a braid. "Sometimes they get tangled on low hanging branches," he nodded in confirmation.

It was the one thing besides his wings that sometimes irritated him, but he tried to think of it as the spirits reaching out to him rather than tree branches pestering him. Sometimes it was easy, sometimes it was hard. But that was life. Easy, hard...he could not judge the world when he was having a bad day, that wasn't fair.

"What about you?" he asked, nuzzling a strand of her hair. He smiled at her still, bumping his nose against hers playfully. It was impossible to tell her how happy she made him, even in this short time that they had known each other, even despite their awkward and frightening introduction.

'Well, I'll always be there from now on to untangle you.' Chatura said, a small promise, but it carried the hint of much more. It was strange to to her ears to say 'always be there' but it was a good strange, a warm, happy strange.

She blew out warm air when his nose bumped against hers, giggling and then giving Sastimos's nose the gentlest and shyest of lippings with her mouth, her face getting flushed with colour as she did so.

'No, I'm more careful..' she said, but her eyes twinkled as she said it, teasing him gently.
'And I do have far less of a mane than you do.'
