Really, how was one supposed to find their way in this school? Etzer thought he had the layout down, but he was wrong.
So wrong.
His stomach decided at that moment to talk to him, so he decided to appease it. He knew where the cafeteria was, and everything else would come in time, he mused.
Walking towards the place of food, the Frost Demon was more than happy to put things on a plate and pile it to a good amount, then find a place to sit down. There was a good assortment of food, and he smiled at the different array of things before trying them.
He didn't mind sitting alone; he figured that if someone wanted to talk, they would approach him. Unfortunately, there was no one around currently to be the perfect gentleboil to.

Aah, how could she have been so careless?
With everything that had been happening lately, the baku ghoul hadn't realized that she was running out of ingredients to cook with until....well, until she ran out. Xiu had been a little distressed to realize that morning that she had forgotten to go grocery shopping at the beginning of the week, effectively leaving her fridge pretty much empty. Thus, the only choice she had was to go grocery shopping sometime day and restock on what she needed.
...But of course, before then, she actually needed to get a bite to eat. It had been a while since she had eaten in the school cafeteria, but it was the closest and most convenient place right now. It didn't take her long to get the to main school from the demon dorms, and before long, she was hesitantly scooping up the various foods that were being served that day. A little og this and that, and Xiu had a balanced meal that would get her through the day.
As she turned to find a seat, she realized that most people were sitting together in groups and that there was not a single familiar face among any of these people. Should she sit alone then, perhaps? Or--ah...was that student by himself? She hesitated for a moment before making her way up towards his table, she smile pleasant as she leaned down slightly.
"Hello, would you...perhaps mind if I joined you?"

Glancing up from his meal, Etzer couldn't help but smile at the other ghoul, an eyebrow raising in delight.
"Absolutely, for one as beautiful as yourself." He swept out his arm to the seat across from him, indicating that she should sit. The Frost Demon halted in his eating for a moment, taking the moment to give her a once-over, nodding once she'd sat down before he resumed in consuming his food.
"My name is Etzer, fair ghoul," He began, reaching up to run fingers through his own hair. "I must say, it is quite a delight to meet a new ghoul such as yourself. Might I inquire more about the fair one in front of me?"
Eloquent and classy were what he was achieving for, hoping it would pay off.

...Oh dear, was he one of those flirtatious kinds? She couldn't help but look a little wary when he called her beautiful, but the small, pleasant smile was still spread over her lips. She set her tray down first before sliding into the seat across from his, her tail giving a little swish. "Thank you, I appreciate it! Hopefully I'm not intruding or anything."
This boil, she noted, had a very...formal way of speaking. A demon like herself, perhaps? She tilted her head at him, and then shook it with an amused smile. "It's nice to meet you, Etzer! My name is Xiuying, but just Xiu will do." There was a pause as she peered at him curiously, and then she gestured towards him. "Have you been at Amity for long? I admit that you aren't a familiar face to me..."
Which shouldn't have really come as a surprise--Xiu certainly didn't have the faces of every student who walked these halls memorized--but she figured that she would have remembered those horns or that hair of his. As she waited for an answer, she picked up her fork to spear a piece of her food, chewing on it thoughtfully.
...Mm, cafeteria food. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't her favourite.

"No, not at all. I just didn't have anywhere to sit, so I decided to sit by myself," Etzer replied with ease, glancing around, his eyes cold. He turned back to her and smiled, the coldness disappearing for the moment. He was alone, it was true, but the fact that he had company made him all the more happier. He didn't like being alone except when he wanted to read, and that was a different matter entirely.
"Xiu. Beautiful name. It fits." Etzer nodded. "No, I wouldn't be familiar, it's my first week here. Just arrived. My father and his father before him went to this school, so it was only a matter of time." He grinned, unable to help from laughing. "I actually got here before my older brother. My father's still trying to convince him to come, the lazy thing."

Aah, so he was new! And sitting alone--ah, she knew what it was like to know little to no people in a new setting. In the end, the baku was quite pleased that she had decided to sit with the frost demon--she was always happy to meet and befriend new students. Her expression becoming sympathetic, she offered him a small grin. "Welcome then, Etzer. I hope that you're liking the school so far!"
She tilted her head to the side as he told her a little about his family, chuckling at the comment about his brother. "Aww. Well, now that you're here, perhaps you can convince him to enroll at some point! But wow, it's quite impressive that both your father and your grandfather attended Amityville!" Her eyes had widened a little at this--something about it just seemed fascinating. If she ever had kids, would she enroll them in this school? ...Well, it was definitely like a second home to her now, though considering all the dangers they had--and were currently--facing...
Xiu shook her head and waved away these thoughts, turning her attention back to the boil. "I've been here for a while now," She confessed with a sheepish smile. "I'm a third year, so if there's anything that I can do for you, please just let me know!"

"I am enjoying it thoroughly!" Etzer admitted, glancing around on the food on his plate before taking another bite of the strange food. "Though I had higher hopes of the cafeteria food." Really, it was alright, but most of it actually tasted dull and lifeless. It even looked lifeless on the plate. With a sigh, he pushed it away, having had enough to eat.
Glancing up at her comment of his brother, the frost demon's grin widened. "That... is a feat in itself. He is rather lazy, but our father might convince him yet." Tilting his head, he rested it on the palm of one hand.
"Is there anything exciting that happens here? Is it mostly of schoolwork, or a combination of both?" Any information intrigued him, and his grin grew as he asked his next question. He couldn't help it; he was a definite ladies man.
"Are you perhaps available for a date?"
He was incorrigible.

Laughing, Xiu shook her head as she pushed away her own plate with a slight grimace. "It's not the best," She agreed with a sigh, "I usually cook my meals myself, but I forgot to go grocery shopping this week, so..." She trailed off sheepishly, scratching at her cheek as her lips curled into a wry smile. It had been pretty careless of her, she knew, but there was no point in dwelling on the past. She would just have to fix the emptiness of her fridge sometime today.
Giving a little wave of her tail, the baku leaned forward and nodded encouragingly. "You guys can do it! I'm certain that your brother would like Amityville if he enrolled! As for if anything exciting happens here..." She trailed off and bit her lip uncertainly. What was she supposed to say about that, exactly? It didn't seem like a good idea to come right out and say that they had been thrown into dangerous conflicts multiple times over the past year, but...
"It's...definitely not boring here," Xiu answered finally, treading carefully, "There's plenty to do. Umm, in addition to schoolwork, there are clubs you can join! Everyone also trains and spars with one another a lot here." She tacked on the last part to serve as a not-so-subtle hint that it would be good to hone one's fighting ability here. However, while she may have been worried about how to answer this question of his, it was his next question that had her blanking out.
...W...hat?
Pink eyes widening, the demon ghoul blinked at him owlishly, her head tilting slightly to the side as she fell silent. After a few, long drawn-out seconds, she puffed out her cheeks in a pout, her face reddening slightly despite her attempt to maintain her composure.
"That wasn't...quite the kind of question I meant, Etzer." Came the squeaked answer, her tail flicking behind her nervously, "I meant, well...showing you around the school or helping you get used to the campus."

"Ah, you cook? Perhaps I could go with you to help you with your grocery shopping, help you carry the bags perhaps?" He smiled, standing up to take his tray and throw the rest of the food in the trash, taking Xiu's plate in the process.
"Who knows if he'd like it or not, his tastes are a tad bit different than mine are." Tossing the food in the trash, Etzer placed the tray neatly on top of the garbage, walking back over to sit down and blink at Xiu once more.
"Sparring would be good. I do need to practice more with my ability..." Etzer trailed off, fingers tapping against each other as he delved into his thoughts. The last time he'd tried his abilities against his brother, it had ended in a stalemate, and neither of them had really come very far with their practices. He thought about the last "live" thing he'd made with his ice powers, and shuddered in revulsion. A bird was what he'd been aiming for, and instead he created a monstrosity that had claws as huge as his head, practically no wings, and all beak.
Shaking his head, Etzer dismissed his thoughts, clearing his throat at Xiu's squeak. That was adorable. But perhaps he'd gone too far.
"I apologize. Was that too forward of me? Forgive me, I just haven't seen very many ghouls and you're by far the prettiest I've seen. Your beauty entranced me, and forced me to speak out of turn. Again, my apologies. Allow me to make it up to you by helping to carry your groceries. In turn, you could tell me all you know of Amityville?"
Maybe that smooth answer would help, along with his trademark smile.
Etzer grinned.Kaiyumi feel free to hit him, he's a sod

He was...willing to help? Ordinarily, Xiu would have been able to carry all of the bags herself, but considering just how much she had to buy today...hm. She lifted a hand to cup her cheek, brows furrowing as she hesitantly considered his offer. Before she could come up with a response, he had returned from throwing away the food, making a comment about his brother. Well...she supposed that it was to be expected that siblings did not always have the same tastes.
"Oh--yes! I definitely suggest sparring whenever you can! It took me a while to develop my dream abilities when I first got here, but lots of practice with friends helped a lot." She beamed at him approvingly, giving another wag of her tail. So long as the newer students trained and were somewhat prepped for future conflicts, then Xiu could rest easier than if they were defenseless.
She offered him a faint smile when he asked if his question had been too forward, and then--despite herself--could not help but let out a surprised laugh. "You're new here--I assure you that there are many ghouls here who are much, much prettier than I am." And, of course, she was certain that the words coming out of his mouth were all from his flirtatious nature. When he brought up the offer of helping her with groceries again, however, she suddenly looked uncertain again. Well...
"I...don't want to impose, but if it's not too much trouble, that would be a lot of help. I'd be happy to tell you what I know, and since I presume that we're both in the demon dorms, I can repay you by making you a meal."
There was a pause, and then she held her hands up in front of her, her voice firm, "A dinner between new friends, not a date." Just to clarify. Xiu was never sure how to act around flirting boils, but she was never one to turn away their friendship simply because they flirted--they were still good people (usually, anyways). Etzer didn't seem like an exception to this, slightly cheesy lines aside.Kanth LMAO alas, Xiu is a bit of a pushover u__u

Grinning for real now, Etzer shook his head. "Alright, I get the point. Just between friends, and not an official date." Damn, he was good though. Free dinner and it wasn't even a date.
Standing up and walking over to Xiu, he gave a respectful bow. "I am at your disposal, madame, and if you wish it, I shan't flirt anymore." He frowned a small bit, and the frown didn't seem to quite fit his features. "It seems to make you uncomfortable, but I assure you, all of it was truth."
His current knowledge on cheesy lines weren't going anywhere. It didn't help that he read those sod-ridden Choose Your Own Adventure books in his spare time. He enjoyed them, but what he really should have learned was to not use them. Maybe his brother would poke some sense into him.
Either that, or any new found friends.
"Lead the way? This is still unfamiliar territory." Etzer's grin returned, and he beamed at her, just unable to keep the smile from his face for very long.Kaiyumi Poor Xiu. I feel sorry for her having to put up with Etzer. xD;;

With the boundaries set, there was little to worry about in regards to misunderstandings, right? At least, Xiu certainly hoped so. Noting the big grin on the boil's face, the baku waited until he stepped over before she reached up and placed her hands on either side of his face, squishing his cheeks. "Right, good. And I just really like to cook and bake, okay? You'd actually do me a favour by trying out my stuff for me."
It had just hit her now, but getting someone to sample some of her baked goods and tea before she graduated was a good idea. It would definitely help to get some feedback on her stuff before she and Gene opened up that cafe of theirs.
The bow earned a light laugh, and she instinctively clasped her hands together and dropped down in a low bow herself. "Then I appreciate your help. And, ah..." Suddenly looking a little flustered, she lifted a hand to rub the back of her neck, "I wouldn't say that it makes me uncomfortable, but--...well, I suppose it does seem a little awkward for me."
She stared at his beaming face for a moment before grinning back, giving a little shake of her head. "Alright, come on!" Out the cafeteria, out the school gates, and down the path that would eventually lead them to the grocery store. As they walked, Xiu hummed thoughtfully and ticked off what she would need to buy in her head. After a moment of thought, she turned to look up at the frost demon with wide eyes.
"Ah, I'm sorry--what kind of things do you like to eat anyways? I've never had a frost demon friend before, so..." The last thing she wanted was to make something that would make him ill. Some of her friends had some peculiar diets that she had had to take into account when cooking for them.Kanth LOL it could be worse. Also idk how tall Etzer is, but I kind of instinctively write "looked up at" for Xiu. She'ssss...5'2" I think.

A slight color came to his cheeks as Xiu smooshed them, and Etzer couldn't help but think that it was an adorable act. Maybe now he might have a tiny crush on this ghoul, but he'd never openly admit it. "I'll try anything you make." He said honestly, his grin meeting his eyes.
The frost demon followed her willingly, making sure to keep an eye on his surroundings as they walked, mentally adding notes to where places were and the like. He blinked down at Xiu and tilted his head, not really having thought about that before. "I'm not all that picky, to be honest. The only thing I'm picky about is my drinks - I like the fruity kinds." Etzer was looking forward to trying something new, so he reached up and patted her on her head. "How about you surprise me?"Kaiyumi omgosh the cheek squeezing. SOCUTE. Etzer's pretty tall, about 5'7" ;3

Anything, hmm? Well, if things were left to her her, then Xiu would probably just let her cooking muse take over once they arrived at the grocery store. As it was right now, she wasn't entirely sure what she wanted to buy--aside from the necessities like flour and eggs--but she was sure it would hit her as they shopped.
"Oh! Fruity drinks?" The baku furrowed her brows in thought as she considered what she had at home, "Juice, then? Or fruit teas, maybe? I can brew up some chilled white booberry tea." If one were to look in her cabinets, they would find rows upon rows of clear, sealed jars of various dried fruits, flowers, and herbs. If the white booberry tea didn't suit Etzer...she had a large variety of other things to blend a brew from.
They arrived at the grocery store then, as it really wasn't too far off from the school. Beaming up at Etzer at the headpat, she lifted a hand and gave him a cheerful little salute. "Leave it to me, then! I promise I'll cook something good. Just let me know if there's anything you want while we're wandering through the store, okay?" Although she liked to do so anyways, the fact that she had received some Christmastival money from her parents only made her all the happier to splurge on things for friends.Kanth safkjasdf it's officially a new weird habit of Xiu's from now on. u__u Etzer should get used to it (sorry Etzer)

"Really, I'm not picky," Etzer stated, feeling his cheeks grow hot. She was just so nice, even after having met him! "White Booberry Tea sounds divine." He grabbed a cart and began to push it, leaning on it as he watched her decide which ingredients to get.
"Oh! Xiu! If you would like, you can get a lot more than what you're used to getting, if you want to stock up. I can carry a fair amount." Despite his scrawny look, Etzer could carry a fair amount of weight. He'd tried before to gain some muscle, but he had such a high metabolism that any actual muscle gain was nil. The frost demon was, however, spry, and agile to boot.
"And since you're cooking for me... I can pitch in a bit as well, if you want to go all out." She could keep the rest of the food she didn't use. He didn't mind in the least bit, as his family was rather wealthy. Having a father in politics tended to result in rich families, especially if one knew what they were doing in said politics.
Watching her made him strangely happy, and he didn't know why. Maybe it was because he got the feeling she was still rather innocent. Gullible, his mind told him, to which he scoffed quietly.Kaiyumi He'll get used to it and love it.
