After her talk with Roch, the mermaid had returned to secluding herself in her room. She had started missing classes, feeling down because she had never once fought with her friends, much less Roch before.
And it had hurt to not be trusted but when she had been calmer, she had realized that he was probably right in his thinking. Probably right...but she had seen the hunters and known that they had been upfront about their feelings.
They didn't lie and hide behind webs of plotting and schemes like the horseman did. Ever since those creatures had graced their school, since the four heirs appeared the students had been under attack non stop.
Hadn't she been a victim twice now? Once due to them wanting the heirs, her first time dying was then. And then taken to be a weapon canidate, forcibly getting a tracker implanted on and around her core.
And yet she wouldn't forget seeing the mass massacre of humans at the Horseman's hands. When Medea said to kill for FEAR, kill them for their FEAR energy. From all her studies, all the tales of her kind, even with stories of her ancestors being human eaters, it was all that. Stories. Humans never had to die. Students didn't die. And apparently neither did horsemen.
It was a condrum of feelings and confusions, and Amphi wasn't bright enough to figure out the solution for it.
So instead of sitting in her room today, she had headed to class, walking through one of the few empty hallways, to let her mind settle from the stress of the world on her and to just focus for once, on the simple things.
It was hard being a 500yr old teenage mermaid.

One of these days, Jake was going to have a talk with whoever was in charge of the rental golems, as he ended up wearing even LESS than last time, however that was possible.
He stared at the loincloth in disgust. "They could of at least given me PANTS. This is... well, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE HELL THIS IS."
True...
The memory of seeing Gale in a 4 foot 5 vampire golem made him snicker.
Striding down the hall, bloodied bandages billowed out behind him, each step making the jewelry adorning his body jingle.
It had taken him a while to get used to the golem body on his last mission, and, well, it was still taking some time to get used to, but at least this time he didn't have any weird additional appendages. Instead...
A hand brushed against his side, and he flinched, feeling the exposed flesh and bone. He took a deep breath, reminding himself this wasn't his real body, and continued to walk.
After his recent HH encounters, he managed to get some information from some of the students about the horsemen, but it wasn't really anything new. They were ruthless creatures that killed for FEAR. Halloween students on the other hand... were forbidden from killing? But when he had seen that undead werewolf...
No. He needed more information, information that could only be uncovered if he didn't pose himself as the enemy. He wanted to find at least one of the students that had shown up on the island a while ago, maybe that broken doll-looking girl, but, well, this was a huge school, it was like looking for a needle in a hay-
He saw several students heading into a room, and decided to follow. The other ghouls and boils were given little attention, until he noticed a familiar blue-haired girl, one of the students that had arrived on the island.
He was about to approach her when the professor seemed to call for the class to sit, and he grumbled. Not wanting to draw attention to himself, he found an empty seat not far from the mermaid, and sat down.

Once she had reached her class and taken her seat, she pulled out the notes and did her best to catch up to whatever the teacher was saying. It ended up her rereading her notes over and over again...and replaying the haunted house mission in her mind on repeat.
She had been there when war erupted the first time for the horseman and Hunters, watched as when she went to the islands and loved War's the most, collapse from the hunters attack.
And watched constantly as horseman attacked again and again and again.
Her pensnake made a hissing noise at her strong grip and had her dropping it.
"I'm sorry." She whispered, petting the small creature. It flicked its tongue out before returning to its normal state, letting her mind wander again.
Class edged on for awhile before the teacher stopped his lecture and looked at the time. "Well students, and that ends our lesson of mutationous poisons from the more rare plant like species of our world. If you have any questions, please do visit my office. For now, you are dismissed to your free period. Classroom will stay open for studying purposes only." The teacher eyed some of the students very carefully before heading out. "Dismissed." And like that, there was scrapes of chairs as students hustled out.
Amphi on the other hand stayed in her seat until the last student left...oblivious to what even was going on.

Jake had spent most of the class dozing off, and was startled awake at the sound of the scraping chairs.
We didn't come here for that you know.
I owe you NOTHING.
Pushing back from the desk, he got up, about to make his way out of the class when he noticed that the blue-haired girl was still sitting down, seemed to be lost in thought.
He huffed, and made his way towards the mermaid ghoul.
"Hey, class is over."

She jumped and looked up at the student, a mummy? It was odd to see a student like him in her year 3 class, especially since she knew everyone of her age and class group. At least she heard of most people.
"I'm sorry." She flushed and looked at her still open notebook and pensnake, "I didn't realize we were even suppose to be dismissed. Are you a new student? I don't think I've seen you around?"
Even with her mind full of the situation with hunters, and Roch...she didn't register that it might be a hunter in a fake body. Of course, she never suspected the hunters really doing that, she hadn't seen it quite yet and they had to be too busy facing off with the horseman to come visit useless students.

Really, Jake wasn't the brightest guy around, or else he would have realized the year gap in the classes.
Ok, well, it was Chester's fault for not telling him, but the nergal not having been back in amityville for the longest time, didn't really recall too much about the place.
"Uh... yah, I just transferred in last week. Still getting used to this place." he mumbled, reciting the lines he had been rehearsing in his head should anyone ask him. He didn't think it was necessary in such a big place, but some students were naturally more attentive, he guessed.
To be honest, Jake would MUCH rather be fighting the horsemen rather than sneak around in golem bodies trying to deceive Halloween students, but right now, they had no idea what the horsemen were plotting, and they needed information. If they went into another battle with them unprepared, they would only suffer greater losses.
Crossing his arms, he frowned at the mermaid ghoul. "Something bothering you?"

Amphi's eyebrow raised as she looked at him, though a blush mottled her cheeks, a side effect of her constant state of shyness and easy risable blush....function or something.
"Oh well, Forgive me for being so rude. Welcome to Amityville. If you like suffering, and drama then this is the place for you!" She joked before looking down at her notebook.
When he asked if something was wrong, she gripped her seat tighter and imagined Roch's face appearing, a clear look of distrust and anger.
Sniff. Came the noise from the mermaid. "Oh, Nothing besides what normal amityville students have to deal with. Being used and abused by two entities that are beyond our world and being caught up in their war. Then losing your friends and boilfriend to it because when you choose a side, you always choose the wrong side." She was blurting this all out, as if Jake's golem like body wasn't even there. "Of course, I'm an idiot though because when I chose the side I did, I forget all the horrible things they did to me...and I chose them because I made one friend there. Because that one friend was taken by the horseman and tortured." She looked at the golem now, tears shining.
"You'd be best to stay away from horseman by the way." She sniffed, "Their the whole reason we've been dealing with these problems."

He rolled his eyes. There was already plenty of that back at Deus, so no need to get a double dose.
Hearing her sniff, he flinched. The last thing he wanted to deal with was seeing her cry, and then have someone accuse him of harassing her or something.
Wait... did the Halloweeners really have nothing to do with this? Was this war only between the horsemen and hunters? It was true that none of the horsemen showed any sort of neutrality, let alone compassion for the hunters, but then again, they were considered the "enemy", so why should they? But the Halloween creatures...
He had already witnessed with his own eyes some of them helping the hunters, but there were also some siding with horsemen. Were they really a neutral party, able to take whichever side they pleased?
"It seems to be that your boy-"
"...boilfriend is taking the side of the horsemen, while you're... taking the side of the hunters? But from the looks of it, the hunters didn't seem to treat you all that different from how the horsemen treat you guys. What exactly... did they do to you?"
Despite this, she had managed to befriend one of the hunters?
"And what... did the horsemen do to this friend of yours?"
He already knew the horsemen were cold and ruthless, as if it were part of their nature, but hunters... they... he... The only reason they ended up fighting back was because their existence. If it was humans that created them out of FEAR, then it would be by human hands that they were silenced. The same went for Halloween creatures, but it seemed from the looks of it, they weren't the greater threat here.
Hopefully Amphi wouldn't think it was odd for a "newly-transferred" student to be asking so many questions, but, well, he was finally getting somewhere, as he didn't have this luxury to ask these kinds of questions when he was fighting against them, and he had a LOT of questions.

She sniffed again. If she heard his mess up of their words, she didn't notice at all. Too self absorbed into the woe of herself to realize that she was dropping it all in the middle of the of the classroom to a complete stranger.
Was it better to have a soundboard?
"It's not like that either. When he had to come find me on the Island, after the hunters locked us in a room and had something implanted in us...he had to use the horseman powers." She rested her hand on her eyes. "Did you know that students are the ones to become hunter weapons canidates?" She looked at the student. "Do you even know what hunters are? Humans who have weapons that come to our home and raid it sometimes, But it's funny because the only time I see hunters...is when horseman are involved."
She clutched her hands on the table. "When I was a captive, there was a man with a moon on his back. Dark skinned. He was resolute, calm. He seemed hesitant. I talked to a hunter before him and she was...fake. You know? Did she really care? Probably not, why should she? I have never done ANYTHING to her and she was so fake, you could tell in her eyes that she'd rather stick me with a weapon then actually talk to me. But Wash wasn't like that." Amphi looked at the student. "He was a nice human, adult like. And when we talked, He asked me about my life, how old I was. A child is what he called me, and children didn't need to pay for things that they had never done."
"I like Wash, but even though I liked him...I didn't want to be a weapon. I didn't want to leave my friends, I wanted to be with Roch and to pass my third year and start a life here. I want to have kids and grow old." She held her hands up. "But then Amity housed the horseman, and ever since those creatures came..."
She blinked. "I don't know what they did too Wash..specifically." She blinked again and stood up. "Wait, I'm sorry. Oh gosh I am sorry." She looked around, "I shouldn't be talking to you about this, This is right. You're a new student and you should just. Please forget I said anything!"

If Jake wasn't careful, he was going to end up exposing himself very, very soon. It was a good thing Amphi had been caught up in her own troubles, or a more attentive student might start getting suspicious.
He had no clue what happened before his awakening, so the incident of having students being kidnapped and having trackers implanted around their core was beyond him, but he couldn't help but place a hand on his chest, wondering what it would have felt like to have something implanted in him against his will. It... probably wasn't a pleasant experience.
... weapon candidates. It was that word again. He had never witnessed the process himself, but he had seen one of the creatures conversing with another hunter, so...
He guessed it SORTA made sense that only students could become weapons, though he couldn't help but wonder if it was even possible to weaponize a horsemen. ... they'd probably be too hostile towards everyone to be used properly anyways.
"...Fake?" The word sounded strange coming out of his mouth, considering he was well, nothing but fake, both in the literal and figurative sense, and he diverted his gaze, his lips curling into a thin frown. It wasn't like... he WANTED to do this. This was... his job. His duty.
When she got to the part about the horsemen, his eyes instantly turned back to her, staring at her intently. "Housed? What do you mean?"
He very vaguely recalled his very first mission to the Haunted House, where he was first attacked by that ornamental horsemen, accusing him of destroying his home. Considering he never even knew, let alone MET any horsemen before at that time, he could only guess that he had meant him as a hunter, and not him personally.
Maybe this student would know. And if not... he supposed he could try asking one of the other hunters later. The same went for the strife between the hunters and horsemen. He seemed he had missed out on a LOT.
When the mermaid stood up, he took a step back. Oh shoot, did she see through his disguise?
"A-ah, no, it's quite alright. Forgive me for intruding. I was just curious." Hollow, empty recited words.

"Housed as in Amityville opened our land and welcomed them in after the hunters destroyed their islands." She started to gather her notebooks, bringing them up to her chest. "They gave them a reserve not far from here to live, and that's when things started to happen."
"We were even dragged into a trance Medea showed of the past. The first time I had ever seen hunters raid Amityville for weapon canidates." She looked at the male student.
"Ah..." She seemed to worry at her lip, debating over just how much the student needed to know. Maybe she could actually save him from the strife between the two other factions.
"Wait, No. I'm sorry as well. I unloaded this all on you and you're probably confused. If...If you want um..." She flushed, "Do you want to know about what's happened? If you're curious, it would be better then you poking around and having either horseman or hunters are taking you away. Do you want to come to my room?" Wow bold offer from the mermaid, but if she was going to talk about it with anyone, she would do it in the comfort of her dorm.

"Hunters... destroyed their islands?" Ok, this was definitely something he was going to ask one of the hunters later. Even as she packed up her books, he continued to ask questions. "Trance?"
Jake only stared blankly at her when she asked him if he really wanted to know. Gee, no, I'm only asking you because it's really fun drilling you with questions.
...
Her offer to have the conversation moved to her room though made him blink, staring some more, before he opened his mouth to turn down her offer.
What? To others, I just look like some curious transfer student.
I'm just-
He closed his mouth, diverting his gaze, before turning back towards her. "Sure..."
"That is... if you... don't mind me intruding..."
He was dying inside.

"I'll explain everything when we go back to my room..." The mermaid flushed before taking the mummy Jake's hand, "I didn't realize...if I'm going to explain everything to you...My name is Amphi...what's yours?" The mermaid seemed to whisper her name, and whispered for his. As if exchanging names was like forbidden.
To a shy mermaid though, it pretty much was.
"Ah...I...don't mind." She flushed even more and then dragged him to the monster dorms. Of course it seemed like a quick walk with the mermaid peering around every corner and hallway. At one point it almost seemed like they might be lost...until she snapped her fingers.
"There it is." Uh...Good job Amphi, first time you didn't get someone lost. "Please don't be alarmed by my room. Your save from the aquarium in there." That being said, Jake would walk into a room much like this"

She shut the door behind her before dropping her bag on the ground and pulling a chair up for him. "Um...do you want any spookies or a drink or something?"

He flinched when Amphi took his hand, but tried not to do anything else that would draw suspicion. If this was what he had to endure to get some information, then FINE, he would grin and bear it.
... name? Oh crap. He was hoping he wouldn't have to answer that. "It's, uh, Ja-"
"...asper. Jasper." he muttered. He was really bad at thinking up names on the spot.
Continuing to letting himself be dragged, he looked around, eyeing each door. Behind each door was one of those creatures, someone he would no doubt be fighting later on. It felt so weird that he was here not as an opponent but... one of them. He wasn't sure he liked this feeling.
When she snapped her fingers, he quickly turned to look at her. ... wait, alarmed? What did she-
The moment he stepped into the room, he froze, eyes widening Did he... just walk into a giant aquarium? How did her room have a giant aquarium? Was this NORMAL for-
He shook his head, trying to clear it, making the bandages flap about. ... Spookies?
He shook his head again. "N-no, I'm good." He was never big on sweets, but considering this was, well, Halloween, the cookies were probably made out of spiders... or something.

Amphi had missed the shock on the students face, otherwise would've had offered him some relief by shutting the curtains around the large aquarium. It seemed almost endless on the other side.
"Um...The glass is really strong and when I asked for the room, I asked for half water and half not so...so I could have friends over and such. Usually I am in there...the water." She started to ramble as she set up spookies and tea anyways, picking the habit up from Xiu and then taking her own seat on the edge of her bed.
"So Jasper....Do you know anything about the horseman and the hunters?" Some students were lucky enough to never see the light of hunter days. Or horseman days.
