Perhaps that had rekindled the lust they had for they were insatiably randy and just as lucky. But since their last brood was 7, a mighty number, Vetiver can only imagine what the next clutch size would be. Bowing under her own weight, he did all he could to help ameliorate the agony. And thus he was seeking a Mare. It had been some time since he last sought one out but if the rumors were to be true, more had come out. Wandering up and down the ravines, he was on the lookout, sweet smelling grass leading the way.

Note to self: spetiver blessing

The owlcat rested idle, tail swinging to and fro, on a branch -- full and bloated. It was not much to assume that the songbird hadn't belonged to anyone; not that she cared if it did. A small price to pay for a Legendary roaming the land, wasn't it? User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Not far from her, a ghostly mare gleamed -- watching over her brood of filly and coats -- and it was the mare that noted the movement first. She frowned at it, motioning to the children to be quiet, as she faded into shadow. The bushes would obscure them from view. This kin could not be ignored -- none of them could in the end -- and they would be all right for a time.

He ambled around aimlessly until he felt the unmistakable sensation of eyes looking at him. He paused and looked around. Deeming it safe, he ventured forward toward a set of bushes. Maybe food was around the corner, he could be that lucky. He had been traveling far and was building a appetite. Sticking his head through the bushes, he tried to see what he could find.

The shadowed mare became solid in a flash; owlcat pouncing from the branch it had been resting on and straight onto the buck's back. A precarious position. It was obvious the reason for haste, the four fouls could be seen (in fact two or perhaps three hushed voices were whispering) peeping from behind her, and she was quick to capture any wayward attention to herself.

"Would you bet I know what you want?" she queried, sweetly. Although in this instance it was clear that sweet was not the right description for her. Sinister, on the other hand...

All of a sudden he heard voices. Yeah, he had an owlcat on his back. Freezing ever so lightly, he noticed the claws were not out. Yet. He definitely did not see the Mare, but perhaps those were the eyes he was looking at. This was a hostage situation plain and simple. Tensions ran high. The Mare, for some reason, was bruising for a fight.

Trying to re-imagine the honey dulcet tones he used to woo Snailshell, he addressed the Mare respectively while trying to exude harmlessness: "I'm just looking for some help. Seeing my way around the swamp. To try to... find some flowers." Yes, flowers and perhaps a blessing.

After this I may be slow; the heel of my hand beneath my thumb hurts for some reason. ;.;
No, the claws were not out. She had pounced claws out on an otter once and the thrashing had been such an annoyance. Indeed in some scenarios, hooves trumped claws. It wasn't quite something she would have expected to think but there it was. The owlcat settled a bit, prancing a bit at his furry pelt -- paws kneading.

"You're an awful liar; flowers is the best you can do?" she asked, amused and incredulous. A reminder perhaps to teach her own brood to be more convincing when they grew. She gave her head a shake. A ruff of fur along her spine rose as she felt that familiar tingle intensify, why did they always want blessings?

Yikes, I hope it feels better. You didn't burn it right? The bf burned his hand today when he was being the piggy and held the cake pan right after I brought it out of the oven. I already cut him a piece but he wanted bigger.

"Fine" he stretched that word out to three syllables. He feigned annoyance but only to gain more time. And since she stared at him so, he fidgeted and more simply and calmly divulged the truth, "My lifemate's pregnant again and last time she had seven..."

Not burned; might be from not having that part supported while on the keyboard or something. I don't know. It'll feel better.
"That is -- seven, one of you is certainly virile," she paused trying to choke that information down, a mere two pregnancies had her at only six offspring (a hum echoed that she was already considering a search for another suitor), "Yes, that's what I thought..." she swallowed, wondering if she couldn't bless him to be infertile from now on. Alas...

"A blessing then, but what do I get in return?"

I took a nap. This cold rain affects my activity level. I wasn't able to ride my bike today.

He probably should have thought this out better. He gambled, "I will return your cat." And since claws weren't out, he grandly backed up away from her. "Or I could get you a decorated skull from the Skull Collectors" he offered up much more quietly.

...oh I was going to look at that HRM. Not that I've excised anyway. Naps are good though! Lull would probably appreciate something more like a raven or bird skull to hang about her neck or head or something. Although she probably loves skulls in general.
The owlcat let its claws p***k briefly into flesh before it vanished. The widening grin on the mare's face let him know that was no surprise. "As you can't deliver the owlcat," here the owlcat appeared on her own back and now he could see that they had the same glowing eyes, "a skull would be a nice offering."

Right before you posted her pref for bird skulls, I started a blessing regarding the skulls. I've edited the title and left an opening Come join. Lull doesn't have to bless. She can just look around and see what skulls catch her fancy. Either of them can bless: Waterbreather

The owlcat and Mare duo was so eerie that he entirely forgot why he stuck his head through the bushes. Just as well. The owlcat was strangely light, as if it lacked any substance. Treading carefully, he lay out a proposition. He wasn't quite sure if he would survive this encounter but he had to try for the sake of Snailshell. He felt guilty about that 7 kin clutch.

"As I have come empty, I cannot give you a skull. But I can tell you where you can get one." He thought of the Mare his brood talked about that liked to pass through "Though whether you make it out alive only the Great Crane knows. But I need the blessing now. She looks like she's about to burst." A pleading, frantic note entered his request.

I'll head over as soon as I reply to this!
Exhale, kin without gifts and presents were such a problem. Really she might take up advertising about knick-knacks that would result in her giving a blessing without so much needling. "Your children and mate shall be healthy, strong of mind," she blessed. And then with a slow grin, she added, "They shall not overwhelm you." No repeating sevens for this buck. (She hoped.)

And the threat of perhaps not making it out alive? She was all the more eager to find this place for skulls.

Yay, thank you for the blessing.

Visibly relieved, he hightails it but not without thanking the doe. "Thank you for the blessing, I will tell my brood about your arrival. They are at the glade just over yonder the treeline."
