It was like every other day for the stallion. He was searching for something that he probably wouldn't end up finding. His mother kept telling him that he needed to grow up and stop living in his head all the time. It was even worse now that his sister was having children of her own with some kalona guy. He was probably the only sibling not hitched up now and even though it didn't bother him any, his mother was down his throat all the time. She never cared so much about his sister's getting someone, but with him it was like a must do kind of thing. He didn't understand it, but it was his mother and he couldn't just forget about her words or wishes. He only hoped she knew best for him. Shrugging it off, he walked further into the woods feeling his stomach flutter a little bit when he found something shiny in the ground. Picking it up with his mouth, he smiled and began to walk back to his makeshift home in a small cave.

This might have been a good omen at least. Maybe the day was looking up for him at the very least? He flicked his tail and lifted his head for a moment to gaze up at the sun through the towering trees. Yes today was going to be a very good day.

Calamity Jane had been out for a stroll when she noticed the stallion. She had paused to watch him, then followed him out of curiosity as to what he had picked up. Maybe it was worth something, maybe not. But she had to know.

She scooted up to the mouth of the cave and peered in. "Hey...what you got there?"
