Colette walked along the Kingsroad, kicking the snow to feel the road beneath her was still rough. She knew the road well enough, traveling to and from Palisade every once in a while for new supplies or repairs. So with her hounds, Hati and Skoll, it wasn't too difficult to stay on the path. It was the fact that eventually she would have to leave the road to find the stables that made her journey difficult.

She continued on, clutching her thick cloak to ward against the frigid air. Thankfully it wasn't snowing to harshly at the moment, but the winter chill still nipped at her nose and made her cheeks flush. Onwards she went, until she kicked the snow away again and felt the road a little smoother. She turned off the road, and walked aimlessly into the abyss. While she didn't know exactly how many paces it was to the stables, she figured someone was bound to see her. She also figured that her dogs, while impish in nature, were at least smart enough to keep her out of danger.

Didn't she hear something about wolves the last time she went towards Palisade? Colette pondered this as she looked blankly ahead with snowy eyes. She shivered, not from fear, but from anticipation. Of all the things not to frighten the girl, wolves did not. Were they all bloodthirsty killers? She simply could not believe it. Questions arose in her head, keeping her mind off the cold a little as she continued shuffling through the snow in the general direction of the stables.

A decent amount of miles from Palisade was the large, and grand estate that the rich horsebreeders owned. Their territory was massive, and extended through lush fields that were filled with wild grasses. At the moment, the expansive lands were coated in a light layer of snow, causing a sprinkling effect to over take them of white and dulled greens. An impressive manor sat further inwards, along with two large stables that were much more grand than the stables in town. For now, no horses were outside, remaining within the confines of the warm stables, many given a blanket over their backs to keep extra cozy. And like everyday, there were many men hard at work, shoveling out and cleaning up the stables, watering, and feeding the lovely creatures that inhabited.

Though he didn't have to, noble little Eluf assisted in this sort of daily work. He wanted to know the in's and out's of his family's business, and thought it only possible by doing what was actually required for upkeep regarding the animals that were their main source of income. Dressed down in his usual working garb, the pretty man was busy brushing a few horses, an assisting in moisturizing any that might have signs of dry skin from the cold season. But it was growing later in the day... closer to when he could see him. And so, he left the stables with his trusty Axe at his side who clicked along after him, powerful cloven hooves giving a deep clop before they exited. Lovely auburn curls were smoothed back, the loose ponytail laying over a shoulder, holding a majority of the wild strands. He'd need to clean up before going to see the soldier... but before that, a look around the estate was in order, to make sure there weren't any coyotes, or foxes that might try to enter the premises and wreak havoc upon the horses. Mounting onto the proud buck, Eluf and the guardian shot off into a leisurely canter around the grounds, checking the white fencing, before he caught sight of someone walking along the street just outside of it.

A sweet smile was spared to the woman, and her canines, while Axe regarded them with a fierce golden glare, though eased to a trot at his chosen's desire, "Good evening, miss~" Eluf called out politely.

Colette was still deeply absorbed in her thoughts when she heard someone's voice. Was she at the right place? She felt relieved to had finally arrive. It was only now that she realized her calves were aching from the walk. On a summer's day the trip wouldn't have been too terrible, but trudging through some stretches of snow made the walk all the more tiresome.

She waved into the distance, unsure exactly where the voice hailed from, but called out, "Hello, sir! I was wondering if I've arrived at the stables?" to it in response. Hati and Skoll went into a playful frenzy, barking and yipping at the strangers and dashing over to them. She then took a few steps following the young dogs while bending to the side, rubbing her calves. When she reached them, she could hear the man's mount and reached out to pat his muzzle.

"Oh, hush, you little rascals! You might spook his horse!" she scolded, but the dogs continued to cause a fuss, though with slightly less gusto. She sighed at looked straight ahead, neither at the buck, nor his master, but smiled sweetly.

The chosen and his deer for a steed trotted lightly along the edge of the fence, Axe glaring still at the woman who was too close to the property for his liking... Eluf gently stroked the stags neck to make him stop, once the girl approached, offering her a polite smile.

However when she reached to pet the deer, Axe yanked his head away from her, and gave a very disgusted snort at her, a cloven hoof stomping in the snow to show that her affection was not appreciated. "Axe..!" Eluf gasped, looking down at his chosen, to the woman, "I apologize, miss." he offered an apologetic expression. The buck didn't like others after all... But the woman's question had his interest piqued, "Oh. I believe that depends, miss. Town is still a ways off, with their stable. But we do have a ranch here, where horses are sold." he smiled.

He did blink as she chastised her dogs though. Horse? perhaps she'd never seen a deer or a guardian before?

Colette yipped as the buck jerked away and stomped, her hands retreating to her chest. She wasn't quite expecting that reaction, usually she was great with animals, but perhaps this wasn't a creature like the goat she had at home. She wondered, were all horses so finicky? She knew how to feed and care for one, but tame one? She was hoping they would already be tamed.

Ah! Well she ended up at the wrong place, but it seemed to all work out. She smiled graciously and asked almost timidly with sudden hesitance, "M..may I buy one? A horse?"

The young lady fingered the leather coin purse tied around her waist, beneath her cloak. It wasn't a fortune, but it was all she could spare from her savings.

"Umm..." she trailed off, still staring aimlessly into the distance. She never once met the man's eyes, nor his bucks, not knowing where they were. The best she could do was stare at their mouths. "How much..is a horse?" she muttered, suddenly doubtful that she had enough. Colette didn't actually plan too far ahead, she was just grateful she got here without getting lost. And unfortunately the passersby she heard about the stables from didn't mention any prices. Travelers always had wonderful stories and gossip to share, but they always left things out.

Eluf's head tipped curiously at her inquiry. She wanted to buy one of their horses? Smiling lightly, he gave a stroke along Axe's neck, "Well you're welcome to see if the horses we have are the type you are looking for. They are show horses, after all." when the price was asked, he walked to the fence and pointed further down the way, "If you continue down this path, you'll be taken to the entrance of our estate. Price wise, they vary depending on what you are looking for specifically." he replied, before giving off a very, very high price range for a few of the commonly purchased stallions and mares. After all, these were prized horses, used for those who were of high class and social status.

Show horses? That sounded rather expensive. She just needed a ride-able horse that could pull a small cart for her. Then again she figured they would have to be in tip-top shape for shows. She listened to his directions but pondered the price range given. She considered what she had to be a lot but it began to sound like her savings just weren't even a fraction of enough. Either way, it wouldn't hurt to window shop, so to speak.

Colette wouldn't have been able to see the man point, so she assumed the path was the one she had taken: straight ahead. Obliviously, she walked right into the fence, bruising her nose and falling flat on the ground with a whimper. Naturally, Hati and Skoll started yelping their warnings now, but always too late. Now it only seemed like mischievous chuckling.

Clutching her nose, she pulled her hood over her face, dreadfully embarrassed by the whole situation. Then, she sprung to her feet, reached out with one hand to feel the fence, and began to ran alongside it in hopes of finding the actual entrance.
