This is a PRP between Veryuu [[Azure Desiderium]] and Yue Lao [[Face Your Demons]].

Setting:
Certain individuals bump into certain other individuals very much by accident one fine evening.

Yue Lao had paused to empty some grey sand out of her sock; she hated wearing such restrictive footwear, but when she had to go out into the wilderness there weren't exactly a ton of options. It was late, she was tired, and she just wanted to go home, even if her husband was still out. Hime-san was not there: he'd stayed at home all day, enjoying some well-deserved rest. He trained alongside her, learning how to anticipate her combat needs and filling in. He'd even learned how to replenish a quiver, recently; Yue Lao didn't use a bow and arrows, but it was a handy trick for her fighters.

She sat at the edge of the fountain in the market, where she'd dined with friends before, and even chased someone into the fountain, and opened her small bag, laying it in her lap as she took a moment to undo the silver clasp on her half-cloak. The fur brushed against her skin and she shivered, placing it beside her. She sat cross-legged on the stones, as though she was a student again, and sighed. She took out what was left of a dumpling wrapped in a leaf, nibbled at it a little more, wrapped it back up and put it back in her bag.

She was hungry, but not hungry enough to try to finish the cold dumpling right now. Propelling herself off the fountain's edge, she began to head home, carrying her shoes in one hand, the wrappings on her feet making her feel more like her old self. "When I am king, you shall be queen," she started to sing, off key under her breath, mumbling the following verses.

What she wouldn't give for a bit of her old favourite, that plum wine. Her eyes shut, and the corner of her mouth quirked into a smile as she thought of him: Jianyu, the wine they'd made together once. Sort of. Mostly they'd just thrown grapes at each other. If anyone were to be out and about, she wouldn't notice them at all; what little foot traffic there was this evening concerned her little.

Veryuu was hardly in a serene state of mind this evening. The lithe noble had found an excuse to leave his grandparents' house, some hastily-contrived semi-falsity that sounded concrete enough to allow the youth some freedom for the next few hours. He and his brother had been...testy at best these past few evenings, and tonight the atmosphere over dinner had been stifling, the air between the siblings rife with tension and too many words already spoken. He knew that it would all be dissolved soon enough, they would agree to disagree, remake their brotherhood pact...it always circled 'round, a pseudo-ritual borne of mule-headedness and the duality of their natures.

It meant that he wasn't paying a whit of attention, however, to the hubbub of the evening about him, the young Lunarian engrossed in his own personal frustrations as he stormed along, telling himself that he was headed over towards his favorite teahouse, though in all truth he'd no reason to go there. Veryuu was simply directing himself unconsciously to the his nearest sanctuary, the last haven where his mind had been at peace. Perhaps later he'd stroll through his grandparents guardian, once he was ready to chance seeing Haote again.

It was in this preoccupied state of mental anxiety that he encountered Yue Lao, or rather, tripped over her, cutting across the market, the cerulean-scaled noble was in a world all his own. It was a glancing blow, clipping her shoulder with his own, feet fumbling for purchase as his even strides were knocked askew; he stumbled, hands outstretching habitually to catch himself on the ground. He hadn't fallen fully, and had righted himself in an instant, spinning to see what it was that had waylaid him, a part of his mind registering the solid feel of clothed flesh.

A flash of remorse registered across pale features, "Ah, Miss...are you all right...?" It was quiet, but an echo of his usual frigidity ringing in the words, replaced instead by a thrumming undertone of concern. A long-fingered hand extended to help her if need be, this entire scenario alien to him as he was usually neither half so clumsy, and far more aware of the world around him. He'd not registered much of her save that she seemed to be a woman of some bearing, and like some oafish farmboy he'd gone and tried to bowl her over.
