Early morning golden sunlight filtered through the windows of the temple slowly warming the stones that had been cooled during the night time hours. It was these early hours that Izel enjoyed the most. The activity in the temple was low as many were only just waking up, and it allowed her a few moments of quiet before the day truly started. At the moment many of the servants were busy taking care of the morning preparations, so other than passing the odd one in the various halls she was left alone. They would of course stop to bow and step out of her way, such was the life of being a Princess. She had everything she needed here and more, especially since her father did his best to constantly spoil her. One such thing he spoiled her with, and her personal favorite, was a collection of rare animals as well as those that lived close to the temple. It was here that she was headed to now, her guilty pleasure was spending the first portion of the morning among her favored animals.
Entering the room in which they were housed Izel smiled softly at those who lived within. Slowly she made her way among the cages greeting each animal with love. A squawk from the far side of the room grabbed her attention and Izel turned to her newest addition. An eagle sat upon his perch, leather jesses held him in place to ensure that he would not fly until until he was properly trained. Stopping in front of the perch Izel reached up with one of her front legs and ran the back of her curved claw along the soft feathers of the birds chest. The eagle turned his large eyes towards her and stretched his wings. "Ready for your morning flight?" Carefully she removed the jesses and stepped back. Watching the eagle launch himself into the air brought a smile to her lips. The bird wheeled towards a large opening so that he might fly free above the trees of the jungle for a while.
As he left Izel turned and headed for a nearby doorway. Warmth bathed her body as she stepped into the warm sun. Her claws sank into the soft dirt as she ventured out away from the temple. She walked a short distance away, coming to a stop atop a small hill and cast her gaze out across the vast jungle. Above her the eagle soared higher, soaring along the hot air currents. Letting out a sigh Izel closed her eyes and enjoyed the warming effects of the sun.

He was concerned, and farther away from home than normal. It honestly irritated him, and made him somewhat startled. He wasn’t familiar with this portion of the jungle. He was venturing farther away than normal. And due to that, he was uncertain with each small step that he made. Hunahpu blinked, pausing as he lifted his gaze toward the tree top, staring at the light that shone through the leaves. He blinked at the light, his tail giving a small sway, before he shook his head, and lowered his eyes back toward the front, his body wandering the trees and large leaves of the jungle. He enjoyed this place so much, and he had to learn more; he had to continue to venture out and explore.
The stallion paused when he heard something. Slitted eyes flicked over to the left, before the right. There wasn’t anything around. He frowned some, before breathing out a small sigh, and lowered his head slightly, sniffing at the grass at his feet. He didn’t know what he was going to do today, but he had to figure out something. Tilting his head to the side, his ears flicked up to the sky, before he paused, tilting his head up. There was a noise, a cry. It sounded like a bird. Curious, he moved forward with expert grace, grace he had picked up while wandering the jungle paths.
When he stopped, he was in a clearing, a rare sight in the jungle. Most of it was full on trees, so high that he couldn’t climb them to the top without being too large. He glanced around, wings shifting, folding against his back as he eyed the area with interest. Well, this was new. He would have to mark it down on his mental map. After all, he would have to bring his brother back here at some point. His eyes flickered, and he glanced up toward the skies again, for once seeing the sky for what it truly was. He was amazed, and at the same time highly overwhelmed. But it didn’t take very long for him to locate the sound of the cry. An eagle, flying high over the tree tops.
Shaking out his mane, Hunahpu beat his wings hard against the air around him, before they folded against his back again. He let out a small laugh, murmuring in his dialect, before his eyes fell from the sky, and landed on something rather bright across the opening. Something different than what he had seen before. Most of the creatures he was familiar with were earth toned and gentle looking… This… This was different. Bright and startling. He flicked his tail to the side, before tilting his head some, claws shifting to dig into the grass and dirt at his feet. He didn’t want to move, to startle the creature. He was curious.
