As the sun started to climb on the horizon, a light mist glistened above the ground. The sunrise was accompanied by the chatter of birds as they called out a welcome to the dawn. As she did every day, Kira watched in quiet admiration as the sun's rays revealed a vast and stunning savannah. The intense heat during the day proved to be too much for Kira, especially with her dark pelt, and so she was a mostly nocturnal lioness; but she always made sure to be awake for the sunrise. Nothing was as beautiful in her eyes.
As the minutes passed and the spectacle came to a close, Kira smiled and sighed contentedly. Tearing her eyes from the sun at last, she blinked to refocus them, stood and headed off into the brush. She was rather hungry and had her mind set on hunting - before the sun that she loved so much made it impossible.

Kijani sighed. He didnt want to be up yet. But he was, and it had a perk, he got to watch the savannah transform from night to day, dark to light. He decided he didnt want to lay in the sun all day, so he decided to go lay in the brush instead, maybe freak out some hunters, assuming he didnt get bitten or clawed on the account of him rustling in the bushes, fooling hunters.
He laughed at himself, and pulled his muscular body off the ground. He decided to get a good run in, so he stretched his powerful legs and ran off to the closest brush, which happened to be thick and peaceful. He didnt hunt much himself, but he didnt get very hungry at times, so he wasnt to worried about it. sometimes he met the odd leopardess or lioness who was kind enough to share a meal, if only he could be so kind and lovable.
Ok, it wasnt like he WASNT kind and lovable, because he was, he just chose not to show it, considering his general mistrust of everyone he met. once he had a mate, maybe things would be different. But that was going to be a long time form now, so he decided to make the most of his time being single. He slowed down and pulled himself into the bushes, just as he spotted a dark pelt in the distance. He waited for her to get closer, and hoped she would see the tiny rustles he was making, and he laughed a little, scaring felines was fun.

Kira casually padded through the brush, stopping suddenly as she noticed a bush rustling. Although she hadn't been expecting to find prey so soon, she thankfully dropped into a crouch and focused her attention on whatever unlucky creature was making so much noise.
She had hardly begun to creep toward the movement when she paused, cocking her head to one side. Puzzled, she studied the bush closely, then drew in a long breath, letting the scents around her bathe her tongue. The shadow being cast by whatever animal was behind the bush had been much too large for her to eat by herself, and the fresh scent of a male leopard nearby made her completely lose interest.
Straightening, she sat back on her haunches and watched the bush, waiting for the leopard to come out. When he didn't, she called out in a cheery tone, "You're not stalking me, are you?"

He huffed and stood himself up. "now, why would i do that? i was just trying to torment and tease the random hunter" he chuckled and lept out of the bush."My names Kijani. nice to meet you, skully." As he introduced himself, he plopped his body in from of the bush lazily. she looked too kind to attack him, and besides, he was probably stronger then her anyways.
he thought about which side of him to show this female. the mean side, or the lovable one? he decided on the mean one. How could he trust this one? even though she seemed nice, she could be a heart breaker on the inside, you just never know.
He drank in the air. no other scents. he sighed in disappointment. he didnt manage to scare this one, nor would he get a second shot at tricking another hunter. "so, what brings you out here so early, skully?"

Skully? Kira cocked her head at the nickname. She'd never had a nickname before. She rather liked this one, and decided that she would include it in future introductions.
Putting her focus back on the matter at hand, she responded, "I'm always awake at sunrise. This particular morning, I was trying to find a quick snack. My name's Kirafiki'Mifupa, but you can call me Kira for short. Or you can keep calling me Skully if you like."
All the while, she silently debated why anyone would try to torment someone they didn't know. Especially when that someone was only trying to find food. Oooh, he must be a trickster!, she thought excitedly. Tricks were fun - as long as no one got hurt in any way. She flashed a friendly smile at Kijani.
"I've never run into anyone this early before; I'm rather used to having the sunrises to myself. What brings you out at this time?"

KIjani yawned. "well, usually i wouldnt wake up so early, but it just so happened that i did, so i thought i would go hide in the bushes after sunrise" He wondered why she had been so calm about his small amount of teasing. maybe she liked the name. he gave a mental shrug, it wasnt a big deal. "Im not much of a hunter myself, but i should be fine, some feline was kind enough to share their food with me yesterday"
"Thats quite the long name ya got there, skully" he gave a toothy grin. he liked calling her skully, but maybe he would adress her as Kira, he didnt really know, so he just shrugged it of. Looking off to the distance, he managed to see a klipspringer. "seems to be a klipspringer over there." He motioned his head to the east, where he had smelt and saw a glimpse of them. he wasnt going to hunt, nor was he going to share Kira's meal, but he thought he might let her know.
Kijani sat up, and sniffed again, the klipspringers seemed to be a little closer then before, and he wasnt just crazy when he saw it, coming slightly closer, obviously not noticing the two sitting there. It was simply grazing, and this is why Kijani didnt hunt for himslef, he always felt bad for the peaceful animals, meals that were shared when possible were always better.

Kira lazily followed Kijani's gesture and gazed at the klipspringer. While her stomach rumbled as its scent reached her, and the thought of the warm, musky taste made her mouth water, she knew she wasn't hungry enough to eat an entire klipspringer by herself. From the way he was talking, Kijani wasn't in the mood to share, and Kira wasn't about to slaughter the innocent creature and only finish half of it.
She returned her gaze to Kijani and, with cheerful smile still firmly in place, stated sweetly, "Thank you, but I was thinking more along the lines of a rabbit. I've only ever hunted klipspringer once before, and I couldn't eat the entire thing on my own. It would be just terrible to kill it without needing to."
In order to better avoid any temptation, Kira reached out with one forepaw and rattled a nearby bush, being sure to make a ton of noise. As intended, her actions startled the small herd and they bolted, leaving nothing but a cloud of dust. Her belly rumbled again, louder this time, reminding her that it still needed food. Slowly, she stood and took a couple of steps deeper into the bush. Glancing back at Kijani, she politely invited him to join her.
"Would you like to join me on my hunt? I don't expect any help, and maybe by the time we've caught something you might feel hungry."
Kira genuinely didn't expect any assistance; she merely wanted some company. While she was content when she was by herself, each time she met someone she liked to prolong the interaction for as long as possible. Being alone was alright, but being with others was better.

Kijani got up lazily "sure i'll come." but he was perfectly fine with lying on the ground or in the shady bushes. he rolled his eyes a bit when Kira wasnt looking, and padded along into the bushes after her, trying not to make noises. this was another reason he never hunted, he just wasnt very good at it. he could stalk, and he had muscles and powerful jaws and legs, put he always managed to startle prey. maybe one day he would be good at it. maybe...
He thought about it, and decided it was best if he watched Kira hunt, gather info on what she did to be a successful huntress. he kept his mouth shut, his body low, just as she would. "maybe i wont be clumsy if i just do what im doing" usually being clumsy wasnt in Kijani's personality, but when he tried to hunt for himself, it would sometimes, end up in failure. maybe he just needed to hunt klipspringers, he knew he could eat a whole klipspringer himself, and if the odd starving lion or leopard or cheetah came along, he would most likely share his kill, if he had one.
he shook his head, and erased his hunting tragedies from his mind, and continued to watch Kira's skill as a huntress.

Kira padded through the bush, not yet stalking, but moving slowly and quietly with her ears pricked and her jaws slightly open to draw in the scent of any nearby prey. Catching a taste of what she was looking for after not too long, she located a large male hare nibbling on something underneath a plant a few tail lengths away.
Her eyes widened and her pupils contracted as she focused her attention solely on the hare, ears pushed forward intently. Slowly and carefully she drew herself forward, paw over paw, keeping to the shadows and being sure not to tread on anything or allow her tail to droop. Slowing to a halt, she wiggled her haunches gently and pounced. Landing exactly on point, she pinned the hare with one large giant paw and ended its life with a quick n** to the spine.
Burying her nose into its fur, she briefly and silently thanked the spirit of the hare for its sacrifice. Lifting the body in her jaws, she turned to face Kijani. Her voice muffled by the hare, she offered, "Feeling hungry yet?"

He shook his head at the muffled offer. "No, you eat it, i need to keep my figure" he joked, and turned around, making his hips move much more then they needed to, hoping to hear a small laugh out of Skully. emerging out of the bushes, he plopped his body back down whle he was temporarily blinded by the bright sun, not noticing how dark those bushes had really been
He wasn't surprised at her hunting skills. He knew that she would be good, but part of him was still reeling about the kill she made look easy, yet he could almost see the gears turning in her head before she made the kill.
Sighing a bit, he closed his eyes, just because he was waiting for her to get back, since he had walked out of the bushes first. "hurry up slowpoke"

Kira shrugged off the slight disappointment at Kijani's refusal by chuckling at his silliness - if he wasn't hungry, he wasn't hungry, she needn't feel upset. Laying down, she began to quickly gulp back the prey; however, about halfway through, she heard some rustling in the bushes behind her and to the left. Focusing her attention, she heard a small creature shifting in its hiding place and scented jackal through the thick smell of blood from her kill.
Turning her head slowly, she spotted the creature. It was quite small and looked rather young, almost too young to be on its own. The poor thing also appeared to be starving - its ribs showed clearly underneath its pelt, and its face seemed hollow. Kira stood slowly, so as not to spook the jackal, and picked up what was left of the hare in her jaws. Gently, she tossed the carcass toward the poor creature. Quick as lightning, the jackal shot from it's hiding place and grabbed the hare, dragging it back into the bushes. It paused for a moment, and in that heartbeat, its gaze locked with Kira's and her heart melted at the genuine gratitude she saw in its eyes.
Then Kijani's call frightened the jackal and it took off through the underbrush. Smiling, Kira turned and trotted out after Kijani, squinting in the glare of the fast-rising sun. Sitting down beside him, she began to clean the blood from her paws and whiskers. In between licks, she queried, "So, what should we do now?"

Kijani wasnt sure what they should do now. "well, im not sure. i have no where to go at the current moment." he tried not to let his sadness show in his voive when he said that, for being lonely wasnt always very great. sometimes it was nice to have someone to tease or talk to. He sighed. he needed to find a new home, maybe he would change...maybe...
He shook his head, he shouldnt think about this now, he would think about it when all he had to do was think. Thinking, it was nice to do alone.

Kira had always been very observant, and able to easily and quickly pick up on even the smallest details. Her ears twitched at the dejected note in Kijani's voice and she stopped grooming, lowering her paw and turning to regard the leopard. Kira's searching eyes detected the hint of sadness in Kijani's expression and her heart clenched with sympathy.
Kira was herself searching for a place to belong, so she understood the feelings running through her new leopard friend. Maybe friend was too strong of a - oh, to Hell with it, friend. Blinking away the sadness that threatened to surface in her, she smiled at Kijani.
"Neither do I. If you'd like, I wouldn't mind going nowhere together." Bloo Starr Sure thing. If you want to do the last post - at the end, feel free to RP that either Kira watches Kijani walk off or that the two walk off together, whatever you decide. I just want to make sure that you know Kira isn't trying to court Kijani, she's just really friendly. She doesn't want to be mates, just companions. When it comes time for Kijani or Kira to join a pride - since I don't think the two will join the same one - we can RP them again, assuming you agree for them to be travel companions, with them saying good bye?

Kijani grinned at her. He was happy, he had a friend, he had never been one to make alot of friends. "sure, i would be happy to." He really had no idea where they should go, but he could tell it would be one hell of an awesome adventure, he was pretty happy she had decided he was friendly enough to well, befriend.
He got up off his kaboose, and motioned for Kira to do the same. "well, if we're goin nowhere together, you better hurry up."
off they walked, friends.Rennekae Thanks for the Rp! i would totally love to do another one with these characters again sometime! (8
