Despite all the snow, it wasn't as cold as it could be. At least that was what Shun supposed. He decided to take the relatively quiet atmosphere outside to see if he could get some meditation done. It could have been done in his room, but as long as it wasn't too busy outside or anything like that, he enjoyed doing the activity out there at times.
It was chilly, but it wasn't raining, so he doubted that he was going to get sick again.
If he did... well. Eh. It wasn't going to happen.
Letting out a breath, he closed his good eye as he sat in the outdoor reaper garden, and began to clear his mind.

He would take snow over fire any day. TK carried a pile of books in his thin arms while he walked across school grounds. As he headed for the undead dormitories, he happened to pass by the reaper dorms. In fact, he managed to spot a garden. Oh, how quaint. A curious skeleton veered away from his usual path in order to step into the garden.
TK leaned over slightly to examine a few of the plants still flowering despite the snow. As his eyes followed the pathway in the garden, he spotted a meditating student. He pressed his lips together, but opted to remain in the garden so he could continue looking at the plants. He would just have to remain quiet like he always did in order to not bother the other boil. TK knelt down, books still in his grasp, to carefully brush off the snow from one potted plant.

As quiet as it was, it wasn't too hard to hear the light crunching of snow as someone else entered the garden. Shun might not have really paid them much mind, but he decided to crack his eye open... just in case it was Hel attempting to sneak up on him or something along those lines. It wasn't. In fact, it wasn't even a reaper.
Instead, he saw an undead boy not too far off. It looked like he had a number of books with him and was studying one of the plants in the garden. He was also an unfamiliar face, which had the Reaper narrowing his eye as he started to watch him carefully.
He said nothing yet, as he was observing the other. Student? Or Hunter in disguise? One could never be too careful.

After he delicately brushed off the thin layer of snow, TK tilted his head as he examined its deep red petals. It was a rather beautiful flower, one he would like to sketch. He sat down on his knees while he carefully brushed away snow on the ground before he put down his books. TK searched through the stack until he found his sketchbook and flipped to a fresh page. He tried to draw the outline of the plant, but realized there was a pair of eyes rested on him.
He slowly turned toward the reaper boil. TK took in his features. Strike that. An eye rested on him. The skeleton remained rooted to his spot, but he smiled at Shun. “Is something wrong? Should I not be here? Pardon my ignorance if that happens to be the case. I transferred here recently, so I do not know all of the protocols.”

Shun continued to watch in silence. It looked like the undead boy grabbed a book and started to... draw? Write? It was hard to tell what he was doing from this angle. If it were a hunter, he supposed there could be a number of reasons why they might be studying the flora of this place.
Though, it soon became apparent that he had been noticed.
"The Reaper gardens are a relatively public space," he replied neutrally, looking over the other. A recent transfer... Could be legit. Or an excuse. He also didn't have Xiu or Lizzy jabbing him in the ribs to play nice and the like, "But whether or not you should be here may depend on a few other things."
The Reaper didn't move from his seat, and just continued to coolly watch the skeletal boy. He was keeping an eye out for strange reactions and the like.
"Not everyone around is always as they seem after all. Some people like to pose as students."

“Oh, I see.” TK smiled, relieved to know that he at least had not trespassed. He knitted his brows at the reaper’s additions. “Does it? Would you mind delineating those things out to me? I am afraid I am unaware of them.”
He then looked down at his sketchbook to continue idly drawing out the flower’s outline. Considering his attention was divided between the plant and the reaper boil, the lines were not as exact as the skeleton would have liked it to be, but they weren’t horrible. They were smooth and natural as usual.
But the mention of posing caused the undead boil to cease his work. His gaze lingered on the paper at first while he tried to take it in. Then he turned toward the other student, staring at him with knitted brows. “That is certainly peculiar. As interesting as this school has proved to be, I cannot see why someone would find it worthwhile to pose as a student here. I suppose I shall have to wait a while to see why, though I cannot see how an adult could manage to act as a student.” With his five cents put in, he went back to drawing. It hardly occurred to him to see the boil was referring to something even more foreign than mere adults. The idea was a mere buzz in the back of his mind.

Well his words hadn't caused a panic, so in the very least, this wasn't an amateur hunter he was dealing with. Shrugging lightly at the zombie boy's confusion as to how or why someone would want to pretend to be a student, Shun just went ahead to answer him.
"A simple show of fear, one way or another will do. Natural ability. Natural form. Anything of that matter," he said calmly. He didn't say it but there was the third option of dissipation and reformation.
"As for why... you'd be surprised."

TK knitted his brows together as he shot the hunter a curious look. It took him a few moments to recall the conversation he had had with Xiu about hunters. The glow of his eyes flickered slightly as he answered simply, “Oh. I see. Very well then.” The puzzles seemed to fall together at last, but he had to wonder why this particular student was so wary of hunters. Curiosity was beginning to get the better of him, but for now he would refrain from his usual 20 questions.
He eyed the distance between himself and the reaper. He hummed before leaning over to pick up his things and walk a bit closer until he was within range. His books in one hand, TK used his other hand to gesture toward his ears. “What do you hear? Perhaps try standing up, but you may find yourself a bit distracted.”

Shun was aware that not all abilities were tangible, but he was still expecting to see something more than hear. Pretty soon, he could hear a rather strange noise. It was highly distracting. If he were meditating, it probably would have broken that for him. Furrowing his brow, he did attempt to stand, but a wave of dizziness hit him and he was forced to sit back down onto the bench.
"Ok. That's enough. You pass," he murmured while rubbing his temples. It was also starting to give himself a headache.
He supposed that it could be possible that the hunter just happened to have some sort of super sonic device, but for now suspicions were alleviated enough for him to shift his level of trust to that of a normalish student.
.. Which still wasn't a whole lot in a way.

The skeleton could not stop his smiling as the reaper rubbed his temples. Shun would find the ringing gradually grower softer and softer until it disappeared completely. “I hope that has cleared up all of your suspicions about my possibly impersonating a student,” he noted as he shifted the grip on his possessions.
“Normally I would leave so as to not bother you further, but your suspicions have me curious—what have they done to you to warrant such behavior?” The polite smile disappeared from TK’s lips as he stared intently at the other boil with eyes that glowed yellow. “I have only met two of them myself, and only for the briefest of moments. They seemed, at the time, harmless enough. At least, they possessed not ill will, but caution.”

The Reaper continued to rub his head until the ringing had stopped. It was certainly much better without that. He couldn't imagine what that would do to someone with more sensitive ears. In any case, he didn't say anything to the Undead boy initially until he brought up a question as to why he was so suspicious. Looking up, his good eye met with the glowing yellow ones. So this kid had some experience with hunters then.
Unless he was thinking about something completely different.
"Consider yourself lucky," Shun said flatly, "As for my reasons. I lost my eye because of one of them. They've also harmed those I care about. Scarring on a physical and emotional level. They're far from harmless."

“Hm. I see.” Polite curiosity washed over his face as a free hand cupped his chin. TK eyed the reaper carefully, wondering if there was a reason for him to lie, but the mild emotion he had seemed to reveal enough. “Admittedly, it was only a single, brief encounter. It is not much to base a credible opinion on.”
As he thought back to his conversation with Xiu, she had not elaborated much on what the hunters specifically did. This reaper, however, may be willing to divulge just a bit more if he wasn’t suspicious of him anymore. “If you could elaborate on their actions, that would be most insightful, as I know only that they wish to eradicate our kind.”

"Aside from taking out my eye? Well for one, those weapons they wield used to be one of our own kind. Some claim that their weapons took the transformation willingly, but there is evidence that this isn't always the case," Shun said with a light scoff. The Reaper took some time to think a little more, leaning back on the bench he sat on. He was trying to see how much he should divulge here exactly. It couldn't hurt to fill in the student on such things.
"They have captured those of our kind before. They've done some terrible things as well."
He decided to not go into details on that one. The specifics on Mitsu's case was a more personal and private matter. He had filled in Roch on it recently, but he was more familiar with the other reaper and such.
"You would do well to never trust anything they say to you."

TK pressed his lips into a thin line as he crossed his arms and intently stared at the reaper. He managed to restrain himself from interrupting and asking questions, namely to elaborate on the things he mentioned. For the skeleton, there could never be enough elaboration. He wanted to know as many details as possible. The reaper’s disdain for the hunters rolled off in waves, or perhaps that was just him.
His eyes narrowed at the reaper as TK considered asking him to explain further, but considering he didn’t even know the other student’s name, he chose not to. “I will consider your advice, but I am afraid I must form my opinion until I have encountered them more. I would rather see their actions firsthand instead of trusting hearsay, if you do not mind.” Then he placed a hand over his chest and bowed slightly. “My name is Taiki, by the way. You are welcome to call me TK instead.”

"It's hardly hearsay when I've encountered them numerous times. I've had to rescue those I care about from them. At least one of them is still recovering from the trauma," Shun said lowly. He was going off of firsthand experiences. Not of what others have told him first. But the warning was given. If this student wanted to still try to meet hunters with open arms, that was his own grave at this point.
"But do what you will," he murmured.
Shaking his head, he looked back towards the skeleton, noting the introduction.
"Shun," he said in turn, nodding his head in acknowledgement.
