It had been a completely normal fishy day for the fish. It had gone about its fishy business (not that it was shady or anything; goodness, no, it was a proper sort of fish) and was possibly thinking about its little fishlings back at home.
Or quite possibly, it was thinking, "Blub blub, I say, what is that shadow?'
But most likely, it was thinking "000000?" because it was a fish and therefore not very capable of thought.
Gustav only thought "LUNCH" and there was one less fish in the sea, and slightly less saltwater.
On land, Gustav was a thing of terror and barely held-back killing instincts. In the water, he was... well, he was pretty much the same thing.
But faster.
Much faster. With a flip of his tail, he sped through the water, reveling in the freedom of movement. On land, he was limited to just the one plane. In water, he could travel anywhere he wished. He broke the surface and spat water from his nostrils before going right back under, hoping to find more fish to kill.
Dim sunlight touched the surface. Patchy clouds overhead lent some protection against the sun's rays, which was apparently enough for the wher. Taavi, meanwhile, was determined to enjoy what little warmth he could. It wasn't exactly a day at the beach. Well, no, it was literally a day at the beach. It just wasn't an ideal one.
"Yeah, yeah, you're a mighty hunter, Gus. You managed to kill an inoffensive fish. Good job, buddy. Whatever will you do next? My bet's on killing a tiny treehopper. After all the fuss you made about getting oiled the other night, I didn't think you'd be in a hurry to undo my work. But nope! Straight to the beach and who am I to argue with a large murderbeast?"

Hurry up, M’ska!
Descanth was not as young as she used to be. But she was bounding back and forth like a weyrling, running ahead of M’ska on the path down to the beach, then doubling back to his side. He’d opted to walk rather than ride today, despite the slower pace and the slight hitch in his step.
One of the few advantages to having a grounded dragon was that he kept the same schedule as the wherhandlers: patrol at night, but the day was his to do as he pleased. Which was sleep, most of the time, but also other things. And it meant he didn’t have to be in any hurry to get down to the beach and back within a four-hour shift. There was plenty of time to hit the beach, catch a nap, then be back at Warden’s proper by sundown.
“I’m not slow,” he shot back good-naturedly, “but I’m not going to run just because your hide itches. The ocean isn’t going to vanish anytime soon.”
Suit yourself, was Descanth’s only reply, before the green shot off like a... well, like a running green dragon cannonballing into the ocean. Could dragons cannonball? Descanth was going to try. Certainly her attempt ended in an awful lot of water going everywhere and terrorizing all the nearby fish, so even if her form was imperfect, the overall goal was achieved.
M’ska shook his head, stopped a good distance from the tideline (he wasn’t intending on getting any wetter than was strictly necessary to give Descanth’s hide a good once-over) and spotted Taavi only belatedly. “Hello! Day off, or just taking the opportunity to enjoy the weather?” It was half a joke, more or less: terrible weather for a day at the beach, unless you were a wher and therefore had photosensitive eyes. But he couldn’t spot the infamous Murderbeast...
