The holidays were finally over, and Lesath was out on patrol again, though was waiting at the meeting spot in case Zee had wanted to talk. So far the girl hadn’t seemed interested, and to be honest, Lesath was beginning to wonder if the girl hadn’t just been pulling her leg about wanting to meet up again. Maybe this would be the last time she sat here waiting for something to happen. Nothing ever seemed to.
The blonde had brought a small bag of cookies with her from home and leaned against the wall of a building, chewing slowly and shivering slightly in the cold January air. Yeah…if nobody showed up tonight, she was going to call it quits and decide that Zee just wasn’t interested in talking. Maybe she had met up with O-man and didn’t have any use for Lesath anymore.
Honestly, maybe she was a lot better off this way. Talking to girls like that could only bring trouble for herself and her friends…mostly herself, but that was besides the point.
The eternal gave a sigh, removing another cookie and nibbling on it, trying to stay warm. She would stay until the cookies were gone. That was fair, more than fair, even. She still had three cookies left, after all.

"Holy s**t it's cold as ********," Zia bounced into view, pulling a hat down over her ears. Though, it could be worse. She wasn't in a fuku. And speaking of, she saw just the one she wanted to see!
"Hey!" She huffed out, strutting down to close the distance between them. "Oh man, cool, you're here," She had missed a day, or two, or was it three? December was tough month for Zia, and part of her was afraid she'd missed her shot at keeping up with Lesath. Which would be a shame because she'd totally found Orpheus and so many tiny things clicked in her brain that would be remiss if she had actually lost this chance.
"Sorry, I've had a had a hell of a month. Whoo. Hey, are those cookies?" Food always had a high priority in Zia's mind.

Lesath glanced up and gave a smile, half a cookie dangling out of her mouth. She held up the bag containing the last two cookies and swallowed what she had been chewing. “Yep. They’re good too. My mom made them. Help yourself.” She was terribly glad that Zee had showed up.
“I was beginning to think you were just some crazy hallucination I had seen one night or something. I’m glad you showed up. How have you been? Did you have a good Christmas and all the jazz?” The eternal senshi popped the rest of the cookie into her mouth and watched Zee expectantly, one arm wrapping around her own knees, trying to stop herself from shivering too violently.
Next time she was out here, she was going to bring herself a blanket from home. It was far too cold to just sit around. Patrolling in the winter needed lots of movement involved with it so you didn’t freeze.

"Ha. Cute," Zia said in an awkwardly cynical tone of voice at the comment about her mom, but she totally grabbed a cookie. Maybe the entire concept of mothers, especially ones of Dark Mirror senshi, being just sitcom-y enough to make cookies was too absurd for her to properly process a decent reaction to.
"Mm, well, I might be crazy, but I'm not a hallucination," She laughed, poking the senshi in the arm as if to prove she was, in fact, tangible.
"Christmas... eh," Zia spent Christmas 'working'. And not her day job, her night time hobby in her base with a bottle of cheap whiskey. December was not her favorite month. Two holidays and her birthday smack in the middle, while she had no familial relationships to fall back on and a break up earlier in the month? Yeah, it was no good.
"How was yours?" It seemed polite to at least ask, and she watched the poor senshi try to keep warm and gave her a laugh with a look of pity. "Want a layer?" She asked, already pulling off her long overcoat.

Lesath raised a brow at the cynical tone, though made no comment about it, choosing instead to give a snort as she was poked. “Well, you have proved that you’re real, so that’s good at the very least.”
The girl blew into her hands and shrugged. “Mine was pretty good. Spent it with my boyfriend…so I suppose that was good. Even if he can be the world’s biggest jerk...sometimes.” She shrugged again, and then glanced to Zia, nodding fervently. “Another layer would be amazing, thank you so much.”
After taking the coat, the blonde sighed, seeming just a bit happier. She kept the coat draped over her almost like a blanket, putting her arms through the sleeves and holding it tightly. “So, what’s on your mind tonight that you wanted to come out here and talk to me? Did you ever find your creeper man? If so, did you spray him with some pepper spray like you wanted? That would have been cool if you did.”

There was a weird little nodding gesture made in response to Lesath's comment about jerk boyfriends. A sort of 'yeah-I-know-what-you-mean' glance. Clearly they could relate on at least that topic.
"Yeah, I found him," She said in a mumble that didn't sound super triumphant. "It didn't exactly happen that way, though. Anyway it's a non-issue now." She didn't want to talk about how she had relented to making a deal with him rather than breaking his face, but the fact she was making trade secret style deals with him was probably not good information to give another DMC senshi anyway.
"I don't know yet," She admitted, shifting now that her heavy top jacket had been donated. She still had a hoodie sweatshirt and a messenger bag she'd pulled on her lap once she found something to sit on. "I wanted to talk about you first." Lesath was still a blank slate as far as information went. If she could get her to open up a little more, she could go from there and pick which loose threads were the best to tug on.

Lesath nodded. “Well…glad it’s a non-issue then. Ah…what did you want to talk about. I’m not super big on just…pouring out my life story, but if you want to shoot a couple questions my way, I’ll answer them if I can. You know. No crazy deep dark secrets or anything…but dumb things. Sure. I don’t mind talking.”
She really didn’t. This girl was quite easy to talk to…and she had lent Lesath her jacket, and that was a huge plus. It was quite warm, helping to fend off the chill of the night…and who could ignore a favor like that?
“So…uh…go ahead and ask away, I suppose. I’m all ears.” This wasn’t the best idea, she was sure…but what could she do, really? Zee had wanted these meetings to go somewhere…and maybe she could gain as much information as she gave? Or maybe she could just…vent her frustrations…if she ever got them, that is. Right now she was pretty much happy as a clam with everything and how things were going with the Court…well…with her involvement in it, at the very least.

"Oh no, I totally get it," Zia said with a crooked smile while mentally she was cursing all the need for secrecy and subterfuge. It was so much easier to make connections when you had other things to bargain and offer.
"I don't know. I've been around for a while, see," She said, clicking on her tablet and flicking through various screens. "Lots of humans get involved, harvested for starseeds, energy." Body hosts for your guardian cat's stupid soul. "And then the superpowered among us just expect survivors to slip through the cracks, vanish, be quiet. God complexes," She snorted.
"Obviously I know things," She shrugged. "Maybe not interpreting them right from your side of things. But we can start! I'm sure things can get better." She tapped on manicured nail on the screen as if in thought. "Do you know about Ares' original court?"

Lesath watched Zee for a long moment, nodding as she spoke. “Well, that’s understandable, I suppose…Never really thought of it from the survivors point of view…” She grew quiet then shrugged.
“Ares never really…spoke that much to us, you know? There was never talk of any past court, just talks of how we were going to change the future. She doesn’t really seem like the type of person to dwell on any sort of past…ah…would failures be the word? Or just past actions, I guess. I don’t know. No. She never spoke of anything other than the Dark Mirror Court with me, I suppose.”
Not that she had even been curious about it. Well, sometimes she had a slight twinge, but that was only after talking to Zee the first time. She seemed to know more about Ares than Lesath did…and most likely ever would. It wasn’t that she actually ever got to see her queen…you know. Ever.

"Mm," Zia's brow raised and she stared at Lesath, obvious silent thoughts being mulled over before she shrugged.
"You should do your own research, I think," She concluded. "I shouldn't say too much. But you might want to look into the coma epidemic."
It hadn't been that long. A few years wasn't enough to forget something like that. "It's where it all started. Not Ares, she came before that. But she was involved. The original queen, she died in that. And if she hadn't died," She stood up and clicked off her tablet, "Then your court and your usurper queen wouldn't exist."
