Sophie made her way to the classrooms, wanting to do a little more training. Her bag was filled with bandages of various sizes, infused with her FEAR for healing. Clipped to her belt, as it always was, was the first aid kit she'd made in her first class with Cricket. It was one of the few items she always had with her. Stepping into the classroom, she ignored the dummies with their various ailments and headed over to a desk, pulling a notebook from her bag along with a pencil. It appeared Cricket wasn't around and the ghoul had to admit she was a little relieved. The last thing she wanted was to be judged. She pulled two rather large books from her bag. The first title read 'FEAR Healing and You'; the second being 'What Ails Ya: A Guide to Illnesses and Their Cures'. Flicking through the first book, the ghoul began to read and flip through the pages. Every now and then, she'd make notes or turn back a few pages with a frown.
Looking up, she dropped her pencil and stretched, pulling a roll of bandages from her bag. She concentrated and let her FEAR flow into the bandages, sinking into the fabric and laying dormant until she required them. She continued this with a few more rolls, making sure to not over do it, leaving herself exhausted. Once that was completed, she went back to reading her books and taking notes, foot tapping against the leg of the table.

In one of the classrooms a certain gryphon sat in a corner, his head leaning against the wall, slumped down beside a tall cabinet that mostly hid him from view, dousing him in shadows. His wings were ruffled, clearly missing several feathers, and there was a bloody streak down the side of his face. Whether it was his own, or...someone else's, that remained to be seen.
Ren felt utterly exhausted. He had meant to go back to his dorm room with its wonderful, comfortable bed after returning from...well, there...but he had not really had the strength to do so, instead taking refuge in an empty classroom.
Or, at least, a classroom he had had thought to be empty.
He sat there with his eyes closed and heard the door open. Footsteps passed through, and then a clunk, the sound of papers rustling, a little clicking noise, and then the sound of pages turning, as though whoever had just come in was reading a book.
Ren opened his eyes again and found himself looking at an unfamiliar ghoul with pale hair in two pigtails down her back, sitting with a book in her lap. He frowned a little, realizing his place of rest had now been considerably interrupted, and tried to get up to slip quietly out.
Quietly did not work. Nor did the slipping out part. Ren's body gave a large shout of protest and he slumped noisily back against the wall and back down, his wings flapping.LOLTERNATIVE OVERDUE TAG IS OVERDUE >___>

A chill ran down Sophie's spine as she became aware of the fact that she was not alone in the classroom. Given the reputation of the school - based on her own experiences - she half expected to turn around and find a terrible flaming beast waiting to devour her. Standing up slowly, she picked up the thickest text book she had and raised it above her. The sound of wings calmed her. Please, let it be an owl that had flown into the room. Please. Peeking around the cabinet that the noise had originated from, Sophie shrieked and flapped the book around, trying to scare whatever it was away. She'd shut her eyes tightly, not wanting to see the horrors that awaited her.
But when she realised she was not burning to a crisp, she slowly opened her eyes and took a peek at the 'monster'. "Oh!" she exclaimed, book dropping to the ground. "Oh dear." It appeared it was kind of owl-like just not what she'd expected. Not that there was anything wrong with that because it meant he wasn't on fire and he wasn't trying to kill her. Though she wasn't sure he could if he wanted to. She looked him over; the torn wings, ruffled and missing feathers, the bloody streak down the side of his face. Jack, she hadn't done that to him, had she? She didn't feel the book connecting with anything..
She frowned and pursed her lips, looking from the boil to the door. Perhaps she should go and get someone.. Ah! But this was the perfect opportunity. She had wanted to train more and what better way to train then on a living subject. She crouched down before him, tilting her head. "Can you move from behind the cabinet? I can help you up if you need it." She gestured towards the medical bed positioned against the wall. "Just over there and I'll be able to patch you up."

He hadn't wanted to frighten her, but it looked like he had anyway. The ghoul gave a small shriek of surprise, waving around what looked to be a book, and Ren merely sat there, waiting for her to realize that he hadn't, in fact, moved from this spot since his first disastrous attempt at standing.
She was young - a first year, perhaps? - with a vaguely familiar face, but at the same time not quite, her long hair falling about her shoulders. She looked startled to see him, but it wasn't as if he were looking his best, and it was probably not the smartest idea to try and hide in a classroom when one was injured.
Ren attempted a smile, but it came out more like a grimace. "Maybe," he said, pushing with his feet, one hand gripping the cabinet as he attempted to haul himself vertical again. He swayed unsteadily, almost falling face first back onto the floor, a wave of nausea overcoming him, but he breathed deeply, steadying himself.
"Okay," he said, and reached out, gripping the ghoul's arm, and giving her what might have been part apologetic smile, part wince.
"Sorry. I'm sure this isn't really what you wanted to see in your free time."
Then he collapsed onto the medical bed and groaned.

Sophie stood with him, supporting him as best she could while they walked to the bed. It was a lot harder than she thought it was going to be - movies made it look easy - but he was a lot bigger than she was and she was glad that he was at least able to stand for the most part. When he collapsed on the bed, Sophie began to look him over. He didn't seem too injured, luckily and she concluded that she'd be able to patch him up by herself without the risk of.. complications.
She headed back over to the desk she was previously working at and grabbed a roll of bandages, freshly charged with her FEAR. Returning to the bed, she gave a soft smile. "Actually, it's exactly what I wanted to see!" And then she fumbled and her face took on an odd expression. "I mean.. I didn't want to see you hurt. I just mean.. uh.. I'm sorry you got hurt.. but..," she paused, sighing. "It's good practice."
From the first aid kit clipped to her belt, Sophie pulled out a small bottle of antiseptic and some swabs. She wet a swab with the liquid and looked at the graze on his head, pursing her lips. "This might hurt a little..," she gave him an apologetic look before dabbing the swab on the graze, cleaning away blood and anything else that was in it. "What happened, anyway?" She asked, putting the dirty swab to the side. "You don't have to answer. I'm just curious." Another swab, cleaning up more blood down the side of his face. kurotomato super on time tag yay for the flu. orz sorry <33333333

He felt beaten. It was a pathetic feeling, one that made him both angry and frustrated simultaneously. It wasn't even that he was injured grievously (though the scratches across his back made it unpleasant and painful to lie down), but his body was tired, and so was his mind.
How long can I keep doing this?
I can't do this anymore.
But I have to.
Ren closed his eyes briefly. "Are you a first year?" he asked her, without opening them, and breathed out slowly, feeling something cold touch his forehead. He let out a low hiss of pain at the stinging, but it only lasted a moment, and then it settled into a dull numbness.
"...it was stupid," he said, after a few minutes had passed. "It was just some...something to do with the Human world and the portals. I was careless."
He hissed again, and said, "Sorry. I'm Ren, by the way."
