There was a few vendors out and about in the maul. All for the post holidays, they sold trinkets and supposedly left over items. Some just sold overstock, others sold things that hadn’t sold at all. Then you had the vendors with specialty stock. The ones that carried what you wish you had seen pre-giftmas. It was the key vendor that fell into that category. Frost hadn’t been able to really find the right gift for his friend, Thackery. He knew the boil liked keys so finding a booth selling ornate fancy keys? AFTER giftmas? Kick a dog while he was down. Red eyes peering down at the various keys, the vendor assured him that they were of the highest quality. Quality keys. To what, he didn’t know. It seemed right up Thackery’s alley. But as he was inspecting the wolfos didn’t pay much mind to other around him.

Erebus was a horrible boil.
At least that was what he kept telling himself. To him, it was unforgivable that he would forget giftmas, and unforgivable that he hadn't gotten his brothers any presents. He was trying his hardest to get out of his room more often, and what better motivation than to look for a gift? It was also technically, "sorry I haven't been around really often" present. Either way, he would get this done! Yes!
The first on his list was Thack, because in all honesty, Thack was much easier to shop for than Arthur. And so, while wandering around the maul, keeping in mind what Thack liked, Erebus spied something. Keys.
Perfect! Beaming, the boil started examining the keys, and reached for the exact same one the wolfos was about to look at.
..........
"Oh, um! I'm sorry! You can look at it first." Wow, Erebus. Way to go at being awkward.

Keys for a ‘king’ Frost was close to thinking he might have picked a good one out when another boil bumped into him. Red eyes looked up at the source of the apology only to be suddenly taken aback by the sight. He looked kind of like Thack. An older Thack but not Thack. A sniff to the air told him no, it wasn’t his friend but it was close. A relative perhaps? He couldn’t be sure. Then again, it just might be another of his species, some could smell rather close in comparison. “It’s alright. No harm done and the booth here is not very large.” Picking up the key they had bumped over in question Frost ran it over in his hand. Solid, a good weight… but it didn’t feel right. There was a sense for gifts, and while it would be a good gift, it just wouldn’t be the right one. Offering it to the other boil the white wolfos couldn’t help but ask. “Pardon, but you don’t happen to know a boil named Thackery do you? Over at Amityville?”

Erebus grinned in reply, eyes running over the other keys in the booth, picking another one to examine. For a moment, he wondered if it was polite to smell the key, and with a tentative look towards the booth owner, he gave it a quick sniff and then put it back. Nah, he'd probably know the right one when he found it.
"Thanks." He took the key from the boil, and came to the same conclusion; it wasn't right. Perhaps it was a part of him that desperately wanted the gift to be perfect, to make up for his absence. But would he find the right one eventually? Erebus wasn't sure, but he certainly could try.
The boil's question jolted him out of the midst of his thoughts, and he turned to look at him, wide-eyed. "Thack? He's my brother!" Honestly, Erebus wasn't really surprised to find a friend of Thack's, not when Thack had always been the most outgoing of the three. "We're...well, part of the Cerberus triplets."

Frost never thought much about keys and their significance, but to some, they were important. He guessed he could understand why, what with needing to open and unlock things but then he didn’t lock a great many things away. As Eberus sniffed a key Frost blinked, picked up another possible key gift candidate and gave it a sniff as well. It smelled like metal and someone who ate a hotdog recentl- on no wait that was his hands. Ears did perk up and his tail give a slight sway when the boil confirmed the wolfos’s suspicions. So we was indeed Thack’s brother. “That makes sense then. You smelled and looked a bit familiar to him but I didn’t wish to be rude and assume. I wasn’t aware he was a triplet however.” Facing the other boil, the ghost gave him a bow. “I am Frost in the Storm. Ah, the ‘Knight’ to Thackery’s ‘King’. A bit of a long story. Still, he’s a good friend, though I am the fool who forgot to give him a present this passing Giftmas.” A look to the keys. It would be a hard decision.

"Yeah, well, Arthur and I haven't exactly been around much." Erebus confessed, his tail drooping sheepishly. It was sort of sad, really, that the Cerberus brothers being triplets was something they had considered to be common knowledge, but since coming to Amityville, they hadn't really hung out as often as they would have liked.
"I'm Erebus." He introduced himself in return to Frost, and then blinked. "Wait, you're a Knight? King? Thack's a King? What's going on?" He was honestly quite puzzled, and partly embarrassed that he had no idea of... whatever this was. Especially when it involved his brother. But at least being a King sounded like a good thing; something their family could be proud about?

Frost shrugged. Around or not, they were still there, which the wolfos suspected, was nice. “He still has you to call brother, which is more than many might have. My own kin are too far north to be of comfort, but, here you are. Thack likely enjoys the fact you are still here with him, even if slightly at a distance.” A small reassuring touch to the other canine’s shoulder, Frost smiled. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Erebus. And.. not.. quite. Ah, how to explain.” Key forgotten, the ghost sighed. “It was scarentines and I believe we were a bit… off. Not quite ourselves as it were. He declared himself King Thackery of Keys and Pain. I was dubbed his Knight. Since then it’s just been a bit of drawn out fun really.” Looking back at the keys, he picked one up, black and rather thorn looking in it’s design. “He’s a friend, and I’m loyal to him in that respect. Even if I…” A small whine bubbled up in the back of his throat. “I’m quite terrible with gifts.”

"Thanks." Frost's words made him feel better. There was truth to it; even though he didn't see both Arthur and Thackery as much as he liked, he was still glad that they were in the same place. "Well, I am making an effort to be around more often, so I hope I'll get to see him more." There was certainly a lot of catching up he needed to do with his younger brother. "It's a pleasure to meet you too." Knowing that Thack had friends such as Frost; who certainly seemed nice enough, was a relief.
"Ah, I see." Erebus couldn't help chuckling a little. "The next time I see him, I'll be sure to tease him about that." King of Keys and Pain, huh? Oh, Thack...
"Well, I'm sort of terrible with gifts too." He confessed, shrugging his shoulders. "I mean, I try to find a good gift but I'm usually quite paranoid that it won't be perfect."

Frost shook his head. “You’re welcome, though thanks is unnecessary. I try to speak only truth, even if the truth is often muddled or difficult to deliver.” A shrug of his shoulders Frost smiled at the news that Erebus would be around more. Thack could use to have his brothers around more often, after all, kin were the closest pack you could have. Actually did Thack have a proper pack? He was canine and he’d seen him with a few other canines but not quite in the club. He’d have to ask later. That would all come in time, as right now, red eyes were trying to find the right key. “It’s good you’ll be around I think. And yes.” Another key picked up then set down. “The perfect gift is… difficult. The easiest solution is to just by them all, but not quite sure that is the best of ideas. I am sure though, if it comes from you, he will treasure it reguardless.”

Erebus scanned the keys before them, picking them up and turning them around in his hands before he set them back down. "It is. I just get this really antsy feeling cause I just... want whoever I'm giving the gift to, to be happy." Tomoko was another one on the list, but he had a different gift in mind for the kitsune.
"Yeah, I guess if you bought lots of keys and put them in a treasure chest, Thack would be pretty delighted." The boil mused. It certainly sounded like an appealing idea to him! And what Frost said made sense; he would, too, treasure anything Thack or Arthur gave him.
"So, uh... just curious. Are you a wolf demon of sorts?" Erebus was always interested in learning about different races and such.

Frost couldn’t help it. He just couldn’t. A small chuckle escaped him as Erebus seemed more nervous than Frost… and then some. “You worry more than I do. He will be happy, then again, it’s rare for Thack not to be.” He’d be more worried the gift might upset. At the question to what he was Frost gave a small hop into the air, and remained floating before gentle falling back down. “Ghost, not demon I’m afraid. White wolfos, so, close to a wolf. We actually consider wolves a sort of distance cousin really. Hold them in high regard given that without them, we might not exist.” He smiled. “You were close, but then my species isn’t the most well known.”

Erebus grinned sheepishly. "He is, isn't he? He's always been the more outgoing one out of us." Arthur was sort of intimidating, and Erebus was... well...
Average? He supposed that he would describe himself that way.
"Ah, a ghost." Eyes widened slightly in interest as he nodded at Frost's demonstration. "That's interesting! I really like how there are a lot of species around that are sort of similar in physical appearance but come from different families and clans and such. Like Thack and I, we're just one of the many families of hellhounds." Granted, the Cerberus family was pretty well known, but to someone not really familiar with hellhounds, it wouldn't be easy to tell the difference.

Frost nodded. Outgoing was a good word for Thackery. A very.. accurate one with his various antics. “I’ve been mistake as a few other species before, as well as monster. But then I know that us wolfos have a few offshoot relatives of the monster variety. But that’s interesting. I’ve met a very hellhounds but, they all have been quite different, just as you say.” Pausing, he pulled out his wallet, eyeing the keys. “Hmmm…” Picking up a black key, it was rough and quick sniff told him it was iron make. What drew his attention however what the head of the key, embellished to look like a dog’s head. “This one I think.” Frost then cast his gaze to Erebus. “Will you be doing the chest of keys idea? If so, I wouldn’t mind pitching in.”
