It was nice here, amongst the Jedi. They had a simple yet efficient lifestyle, something that Tim admired deeply. It made him miss home, his own pride. They were similar, the League and the Jedi. Tim made a mental note to send word home about this place, or even take word home himself. Being here had made him more than homesick. The hero had traveled far and wide in the past few months. He had seen so many people, so many prides. It had been fascinatingly educational in and off itself, not to mention Tim had picked up many different new tricks along the way. He hoped he received the same from the Jedi. Their ways of combat intrigued him. The male didn't actually believe in their "Force," as they called it, but he respectfully kept his mouth shut on that issue. It wouldn't do to offend the kind people who had let him stay in their lands. Though he now thought it prudent to find one of their Lorekeepers and perhaps find out more about this "Force." He didn't remember them mentioning it being connected to a God, but then again he hadn't really heard much about it at all. Tim settled down underneath a tree, observing what appeared to be a Padawan with their master in the distance. Tim remembered when he was under that similar sort of training, getting drilled by Bruus and sometimes even Kal-el. Sessions with Dyana had been the worst though. He smirked, lost in his memories.

Lindiwe'Oliva had been studying with her master, Kamau for some time now and knew when she was deserving of a day off and when the leopard needed time for things she couldn't be a part of. Today was the latter, but the day was so beautiful, who wouldn't want to spend the day outside? The young cub was the eldest sister to a litter with no mother and an irresponsible father just waiting for them to grow up so he can move on, so her instincts told her. He loved them all deeply, but he had no idea how to raise cubs, so Lindi did her best as soon as she was able to do so. The result was a rapidly aging soul, so far it brought her closer to the force as she relied on it to help guide her in guiding along her family, but it also allowed her to appreciate a nice lazy day at her young age. It was like a slow, hot drink of coffee on a cold morning on ones day off.
Master Kamau hadn't taught much of combat to Lindi quite yet, he was quite determined to help her become an exceedingly able and successful Peacekeeper. The youngling was very gracious and felt honored to have a member of the council as her master, but she didn't think of herself as above anyone else, it was not in her nature to put herself before others. On rare occasions however, Lindi got to step away from her constant duties and act her age or her favorite way to spend this time was to meditate between the Pillar of Knowledge and the Temple at the pond amongst the large rocks and the shade of the trees on hot days.
Ever observant, the Padawan saw the bright red spot as she approached, not like he was too easy to miss. It wasn't going to stop her from enjoying the warm day, but she wondered what this alternate force in her plan was going to bring her way. Was he a jedi? As she got closer, she cleared her throat hoping not to jumpstart the older lions ticker, then she pounced to a near by smaller rock in the pond. "Hello there." This should be a safe distance, just incase he should whip around instinctually.

Tim's ears flickered at the sound of soft footsteps drawing closer. They moved at an even, steady pace, telling him that he was not being sneaked up on. Which had happened more than once here with the Jedi. The Younglings, when they happened to sneak away, were often drawn to his bright red pelt. Tim now sported small, teeth-shaped battle wounds from those encounters. It wasn't that he minded. The scabs would heal, and Tim always had a certain fondness for little ones. It was simply that Tim needed a day off every once in a while. He turned when the stranger greeted him, momentarily surprised at her young age. The tan cub couldn't be more than a juvenile, perhaps still a Youngling. But no, her necklace contained two wooden beads, symbolizing a Padawan. She stood, perfectly poised, on a rock in the pond. His eyebrows raised a fraction, impressed. She couldn't have been training long, but she seemed to have natural talent. That, or Jedi methods were more effective than he had originally thought. "Greetings, Padawan." Tim answered, readjusting his position so that he was facing her. He gave her a smile, friendly smile. "You have good balance. He noted, front paws crossing over one another. "May I ask your name?" Tim inquired, trying to be polite as possible. Some of the Jedi and Padawans he had already met had been quite shy.

The lions bright blue eyes caught the tiny juve off guard and wouldn't you know, right after the compliment on her balance she almost lost it! Instead she jumped to another, larger rock and with a sense of accomplishment gave her name. "Whooa!"
"Thank you. Greetings, sir. I'm Lindiwe'Oliva. I study under Council Member Kamau, in the Waterbuck Clan." Since the lion had no necklace or beads of his own, and Lindi had no waterbuck companion, she deduced that the formal title greeting was appropriate and not braggy. Spotting the scars, Lindi also deduced staying in her position on the rock was the best idea for now so she sat her rump on the rock and let her tail bait the fish beneath. When she felt a fish swim by she would splash herself lightly with the jerk of her tail out of the water bringing purpose to her fear.
"May I ask yours?" Her eyes again drifted to small battle wounds, hoping she wouldn't have to be that rude cub that asked about the one thing someone didn't want to talk about.

Tim smiled a bit as Lindi nearly lost her balance, but politely did not laugh. She seemed a little wary of him, as any smart person would. It was never good to trust strangers, even ones lounging deep in one's pridal boundaries. Tim had known many young sidekicks and rookies suffer great injury from making that mistake. She was being trained well. The name of her master rung a bell in Tim's head, but he couldn't figure out why. In the meantime, Tim would answer her inquiry of his name. "Out in the roguelands I am known as the Red Robin. But you may call me Tim." This was a safe place, one where Tim felt welcome. He felt no worry sharing his name with the members of this pride. The Jedi's diplomats, the "Peacekeepers," as they called him, had been sure to make it known that Tim was a welcomed guest. Ah! Kamau! He was one of those Tim had met with previously. Kamau and another leopard, whose name escaped him, both Peacekeepers. Tim ran through the information he had gathered on the pride's customs. Padawan generally studied under masters of the profession they wished to take on in future, if he remembered correctly. The specifics of the Youngling clans still eluded, however. "Your master, Kamau, is a Peacekeeper, correct? Do you share his passions for the outside world?" Tim asked pleasantly, wishing to make idle conversation. It was something he wasn't very good at, though he hoped to improve.

As the rouge gave his own formal title, Lindiwe began calculating. The markings across his face seemed to resemble a mask, and the one on his shoulder perhaps an emblem of some sort? Master, in explaining customs and justice of rouge landers had not said too much on the subject of masked vigilantes. Only that they believed themselves held to an alternate code and defended the values of it by necessary means. In this way, how were vigilantes so different from Jedi? As she pondered, she kept her attention on Tim with a pleasant, sincere smile. "Correct, Tim, as well a council member." This may have been the first time someone had asked her about her own passions, but not the first time her master's popularity brought fed her a slice of humble pie. "Well, sir yes. I wish to travel to other prides or the rogue lands to spread knowledge and learn new information. Master says one could do the world a great justice by spreading the peace offered by the force." One of her ears swiveled around as she puckered her lips to one side in thought. "Um.. May I ask you a potentially awkward question Mr. Red Robin?" The question was going to be mostly addressed to his alias, so this was her attempt at a funny (not her strongest suit). "What is your moral code?" There was no better way to phrase it but to be outright with her curiosity.

She wanted to be a council member? High aspirations for a youth. But what provided better training for leadership than being taught by one of the pride's leaders? He wondered it was the Jedi's way to groom future leaders starting at such an early age. While to Tim's knowledge, it usually resulted in efficient leaders, it also tended to rob students of their childhood. He knew from experience how potentially harmful that could be. "Noble pursuits," Tim said neutrally. Lindiwe's question caught him off guard. She was certainly a curious one, and rather young to be inquiring about moral codes and values. But then again, if anyone knew about maturity at a young age, it was Tim. Being addressed by his alias was interesting as well. He pocketed that for later contemplation, focusing on answering the Padawan. "A moral code is a messy thing, and often hard for people to describe. But I will do my best." He smiled softly. He had to find a good way to phrase his response. "Above all, I believe in justice, that good should prevail over evil. I see it as my duty to provide help to the weak, no matter how small the task, and protect people unable to fend for themselves against those who would wish to harm them." Tim paused for a moment, taking a breath. "Criminals should be punished, but not killed, for everyone should be given the chance for redemption." He cast his gaze at his paws, flashes of claws and teeth rushing through his head. Sometimes, in the heat of battle, such things couldn't be avoided. Sometimes criminals were killed. But Tim didn't think it would be beneficial to mention so. "And I believe that one should always have hope, because though evil can harm one's body, they cannot touch your mind unless you allow it. As long as you have your spirit, you cannot ever be defeated." He finished quietly, echoing the words his own mentor had told him long ago.

Captivated and ever calculating, Lindi listened to the bright red lion educate her. Master Kamau may be the one assigned to train the young jedi but she viewed the entire world around her and all its' inhabitants her teachers. Everyone had some knowledge she did not, the trick was to listen well enough to hear it. The result was her hanging onto his every word as if they were diamonds falling from a ring, she was trying to examine him as he was trying to examine her. However she was still to young to come up with any real solid opinions of her own on the Red Robin's code. But it didn't take a genius to match apples to apples. The token of wisdom which he summarized things brought it to light for her, but she was struggling to find what she knew to compare it to. "So, you're kind of like a rogue... jedi warrior?" Lindi loved the stories, read to her by the lore keepers, of the first and great jedi, out on their own changing the balance of the universe by acting locally and fixing one problem at a time in one way or another. Her favorites were of those that used a mixture of cunning logic and fierce battle skills. "Light and dark, good and evil and purpose to achieve balance like The Code says." Balancing was what being a jedi was all about, for there cannot be light without dark but too much dark could destroy worlds. In the end, Lindiwe felt the need to thank the stranger for the understanding and new insights but did not.

Tim pondered the comparison and the young girl's words. He supposed that his own personal code was similar to the Jedi way. The Jedi reminded him greatly of his home pride. Now thought he really thought about it, there were only a few differences between the League and the Jedi. In many ways, Lindi's analogy was correct. However, the main difference between them, belief in the Force, was a major one. "Sort of, yes. Your people and I share many ideals." Tim confirmed. Lindi was a smart girl. It was surprising how much insight she already had. It was a smart thing to do, taking something unfamiliar and comparing it to something one had great knowledge on. Tim wondered if Lindi had been taught such techniques by her master or if she knew them naturally. "The Code speaks true. All are naturally inclined towards negative emotions. What you do to counteract that negativity is what defines you as a person." The male explained.

This time the male's words went right over the young Padawan's head. But Lindiwe had been correct, and that was all that really mattered. It was a victory. The little things in life offered the most serenity sometimes. The meditation pond fulfilled its promise in a different mask today, Lindi felt more insightful with some puzzle pieces falling into place. But now she had ran out of things to say and she knew her time was expiring with the sun. "Thank you, Tim. I must go now." Lindi jumped to the original rock off the shore then back onto the safety of the grass. She dipped her head in respect and began to pad home.

Tim nodded to the Padawan in return. "Good luck with your training." The male offered as his good bye, watching the young female disappear into the grasses. He hadn't expected to hold such a deep conversation this afternoon, but life was unexpected like that. The conversation had sparked a curiosity in Tim, one he intended to fan into flames. Just how similar were the Jedi to the people of his old home? He hoped to find out. If he could find one of the pride's Lorekeepers, or perhaps seek out one of the council members, Tim would get his answer. And that answer could hold potential for a very interesting future for him. But not today. The male had dedicated the day for rest, and was going to stick with his plan. Tim rested his head on his paws and let his mind begin to wander.
