Kynreeve had found some tracks, from experience of tracking with her father, she knew they belonged to a Hippogryph. She had wandered away from her sibling again and was now following the tracks for fun. They seemed to be fairly fresh, the sand hadn't had the chance to fill in the prints and she could still see the indentation of the talons.
She began to wonder who this gryph might be, she was more concerned about what color they were more than anything. Kynreeves coat was very dark, she used red wraps that her father gave her to help keep the sun off her face. regardless of the wraps, her black coat drew in an insufferable amount of heat and it made traveling exhausting. The sun was starting to fall to the horizon, and so the mid-day's heat had passed, but the temperature was by no means comfortable for her.
If this gryph had been traveling during the mid day then Kynreeve could guess that they were fair in color, or at least had lots of wraps to ward off the sun. This meant that they probably had bells. Only a few days prior, Kynreeve had tricked a traveling usida out of a few bells. She used the exposure of her bone legs to draw him in, when he was close enough, she had jumped up and jabbed him with her horn. It was enough to stun the usida and snatch a few bells from his crown. He laughed at the dumbfounded look on his face when she ran off on her perfectly good feet. He had been duped and she was able to buy resources for her family that night.
Kynreeve would wait till she saw this gryph before making any rash decisions. The prints were getting clearer and she knew she was getting closer. She pulled away from the tracks and ran up a small dune. She couldn't see the gryph yet, but she remained in a line of brush that followed the trail, so as not to be seen.

Dameer found herself walking in the heat a little longer than she had expected. She usually just lazed around and gossiped with her herd mates. But today she had something to do and she couldn't trust to hire anyone to do it for her.
She had recently come of age and with that she received gifts. She got several bells and a new sash to wear, which she put on for the first time today. It was the most gifts she had ever gotten. Growing up on her birthday she always got one little bell. But this was even better than a birthday. She was officially a mare, no longer a foal. She could go to all the good parties now. And what she thought was even better is she could venture out on her own without her parents.
Today was the first day venturing on her own. However she wasn't just exploring, she had a task. Her mouse familiar Little Bit sat on her back holding a sash full of bells. Her father had told her that it is good idea to hide your wealth, because there were plenty in the Badieh Badawie that wanted to steal from others.
So that is what her quest was for the day. Little Bit had told her about a good hiding spot. The mouse was good at finding little nooks and crannys for hiding things. This one in particular was by a rather large cactus on the lee of a dune.
She was hoping she would get to it soon. The sun was turning the sky into multiple colors. Reds and Oranges mainly. She felt a little trickle of sweat forming on her brow. It made her feel dirty. She would have to visit an oasis tomorrow.
She decided to take to the air to see if she could see if how close it was. She didn't want to run, so she lurched herself clumsily into the air. Flying always seemed like more work to her than walking. She also felt like more people could see her. She preferred to not be seen if she could help it. Not like that happened very often if ever. She soared in a circle until she spotted what looked like the place. "Is that it?" She asked her familiar. Little Bit squeaked in her ear, "Yes that is the one."Dameer Soared Down to that spot. She was happy to finally have arrived. She sat down and let Little Bit off of her back. She was thirsty and glad that her destination contained cactus juice. "You can go ahead and bury the bells while I refresh myself on this cactus," She said to Little Bit. The mouse nodded happily, ready to get to work and help her friend. Dameer relaxed a minute before pecking into the cactus for it's juice.

Kynreeve was at first startled at the sight of a huge bird launching into the sky. She lay down in the shelter of the brush and after it had made a few passes she realized it was surely her mark. Kynreeve didnt leave her hiding spot until she saw the Gryph land again. She leaped up and sprinted to quickly catch up. The temperature was still blazing hot and the hot sandy air did little to cool her as she ran. This land was a blighted blazing pit and she hated it. She hated the way the desert exhausted her, and hated her mother for leaving her here. Kynreeve was certainly grateful for her brother and father for taking such good care of her, but she knew without them she would surely perish in the sand. After she made an exhausting climb on a dune she spotted her target. Kynreeve ducked down, and hid behind the dunes crest. She lay down and was breathing hard. Her body was damp with sweat and the sand stuck to her legs and belly. She peaked her head over the crest to watch her mark, who appeared to be eating some cacti.SylverStar (facepalm) i just realized she doesnt have tallons D: and i rpd that she did xD

Dameer relaxed as she drank the cactus juice. It had never tasted so sweet as it did after her journey there. She sat and watched the last bit of sun sink beyond the horizon. She hadn't expected to take this long on her task.
She turned to Little Bit and watched her as she covered the last sands over her precious bells. There was no trace that the sands had even been disturbed after the little mouse was done. "Good work Little Bit. Now come have a little bit of cactus flesh before we head back home." Dameer bit a small chunk out of the plant and laid it on scarf at Little Bit's feet.
As the mouse ate Dameer thought about her herd. It was weird to not be with them. She was use to the commotion and out here it was silent. The only sound was the soft whisper of the breeze. No doubt her herd would already be in party mode. The usually started as the sun was setting. She was a little sad that she would miss it but at the same time was happy for a change of scenery. She liked the quiet and having some time to herself.
She wondered if anyone other than her family noticed she was gone. Though she really didn't have to wonder about such things. Being the daughter of a hippogryph was enough for most all Rasheeka to keep track of what she did. She had no doubt they were probably all gossiping about her right now. She let out a sigh. She would have to answer many questions when she returned. She stood up. Better to get it over with. "Come on Little Bit let's try to make it home before the party ends."
Little Bit licked her lips and than climbed up Dameer's outstretched wing. Dameer grabbed the scarf that lay on the ground and threw it around her neck and then walked as slow as possible back they way she came.Elf Princess Flannery Yeah she is only half hippo...but it's easy to miss because the talons are the only trait she's missing. Sorry I took so long to reply

She watched the Gryph intensely. The sun had begun to set, much to her relief. She watched carefully as the mouse buried the bells in the sand. Kynreeve wondered why she would do that? Wouldn't that disrupt their sound? If this gryph had enough bells that she was able to bury them, then she concluded she had enough bells that Kynreeve could relive her of some.
As soon as she could see that the gryph had turned away Kynreeve's coat jumped with excitement. She made her way over the dune and sort of slid down part of the way in the shade of it. She kept low and quickly crept over to the cactus and didn't take her eye off the gryph, the last thing she wanted was to get caught.
When she reached the spot, the smell of the freshly exposed cactus made her mouth water and her stomach gurgled.

Dameer's ears twitched back as the silence seemed disturbed. She thought she heard a small thump and the sand shifting. She thought maybe it was just a gust of wind, but tonight the winds were absent. She turned back towards the cactus but didn't see anything.
She started to walk again but this time even slower. He heart rate increased and her hide twitched. She was getting anxious about leaving her bells alone. Maybe she was being Paranoid she thought. Little Bit was a clever little mouse and Dameer was sure that she had picked a good hiding spot. It would be unlikely that someone would find it. Unless someone saw them just now, she thought.
Dameer would not be able to be calm until she knew for sure. But if someone did see them they sure weren't letting themselves be known. She would have to be sneaky as well. So she sped up her pace and moved to go around the side of the dune where she wouldn't be seen. When she could no longer see the cactcus she whispered to Little Bit "Run ahead and see if you can see anyone by the cactus and report back to me. I'll be right behind you." With that she let the mouse down with her wing and watched Little Bit scamper up the dune.
Dameer felt kind of silly sneaking around. It was probably nothing she thought and she was a little glad to have an excuse for herself to not head back to the herd yet.
