Hi. smile I thought it might be nice to hear everyone elses new years goals!
Mine for the cats: -Get Tips diabetes at least regulated -Christmas gets to a decent weight and stays there -Tip lose weight -More kitty pictures -Get Christmas's IBS under control -Figure out the grammatically correct to say something like "Christmas's weight" or "Christmas's toy". lol
And I guess, some personal goals for myself: -Be in a better financial situation so I can better take care of all my babies(Tip, Christmas, Luka, Tanner, and Bruce) -Get in to better health myself -Figure out a way to get in enough sleep and time to take care of myself while still taking as good a care as possible of the pets.

Bella: -Cut down on the reacting/yippy-yapping -Overcome some of her fears (which lead to the reacting and such) -Improve her recall/work on the leash-pulling thing -Master "pick up your toys"
Zoe: -Maybe teach "pick up your toys" -Cut down on reacting on leash (she gets super excited when she sees animals)
Personal/house: -Get rid of the carpet (replace with laminate) -Maybe replace fence -Improve eating habits -Continue to figure out a good daily "routine" -Find a boyfriend -Work on people skills and being more open around people/not freezing up when the "centre of attention"

Sayania -Figure out the grammatically correct to say something like "Christmas's weight" or "Christmas's toy". lol I know that when you're writing an 's on the end of a word that already ends in s, you just drop the extra one. So it would be Christmas' weight or Christmas' toy. How to say that without sounding awkward, I haven't the faintest clue! I'd just say 'Christmases', I guess, but it doesn't sound like it should be right. smile

For the various animals in my house: - Convince Minstrel that playing by attacking someone's feet is never a valid idea. - Get Nightshade all grown up and happy. - Get Tansy Patch tested for any bad stuff, then integrate both her and Nightshade into the house. Immediately followed by... - Somehow explain to my dad that out of the foster cat and three kittens, two of them will be staying forever. - Teach Blossom to walk on a loose lead. Finally.
For me: - Find some source of income, preferably by kicking off my home business, so I don't have to go back to working while my stress levels still seem to be sky high. - Work out a good balance between exercising enough to stay healthy and eating enough so I don't lose weight. - Be happy. - Learn to draw.

Taken from my writer's handbook thing from college:
Quote: add 's to singular nouns ending in s: You can add 's or the apostrophe alone to show possession when a singluar noun ends in s... Whichever rule variation you choose, be consistent within each piece of writing... If you encounter a tongue-twisting pronunciation (Charles Dickens's novel), you may decide not to add the additional s (Charles Dickens' novel). You must, however, be consistent in each piece of writing
Verbally, it's kind of more up to you how you want to say it, I think. Personally, I always end up adding on the "es" sound, but maybe that's just a habit thing from how I was raised or whatever.

I guess I was going by some half remembered thing I learnt in primary school. At least my way is acceptable, I just didn't realise it was equally acceptable to do it the other way!
... I get way too much amusement from learning new things.

Freddus Oh, thanks for the clarification! I guess I was going by some half remembered thing I learnt in primary school. At least my way is acceptable, I just didn't realise it was equally acceptable to do it the other way!
... I get way too much amusement from learning new things. I'd had to double check, because I think the way I was taught that was some words it's s's whereas some are just s' which was what I was going to initially say, until I found the page in my book (I'm glad I was smart and kept it out of storage, because it seriously does come in handy sometimes)

It's obviously got a snappier title than that, but I can't go and have a look due to the fact that I'm too lazy to stand up and walk the necessary five metres to the relevant bookcase. Awesome book though! Handiest thing to own. smile

New (non-cat-related) goal of a sorts:
I'm turning my yard into a mini agility setup this summer now (when were in Calgary at the start of December I'd seen an agility training kit thing but we really didn't have room for more stuff (and I thought it was bigger than it actually is) so I passed, but I found it at a closer pet store today and couldn't resist getting it - it has a tunnel, weave poles, jump and pausing station; also came with a little stopwatch so I can time 'em and a clicker that I don't like), so Bella gets to learn how to do it this year and Zoe'll get to practice as well (and Roxy may be invited over to borrow it if she wants). Once Saphi's leash-trained, I may get her going over it too, but that's not likely to happen for a couple years (the goal for this year is just to be able to spend five minutes outside not in a panic)
This will also serve to keep me motivated on keeping up with yardwork (mowing and poop-pickup) because it won't be any fun running around in long grass and having to dodge poop as well; and it'll keep us all more active and be good for working with Bella off-leash.
