He could still feel the impact of Elliot’s punch. Frowning as he lay in bed, Wilson reached up to touch his cheek and grimaced. As he forced himself to forget yesterday, he rolled onto his side to stare at the clock by his bedside. He stared at it for a moment before scrambling out of bed. “No good,” he murmured as he pulled out his phone and scrolled through his list of contacts. “Can’t mope.” …was what he said, but the memory caused him to grimace a second time even though there was no phantom pain this time around. He sent a quick message to Eva.Kaiyumi would you spar with me at the fields? meet me there in 10.
As Eva arrived at the training fields, she would fail to spot Wilson’s usual hoodie. No, he was actually sporting a rather familiar hoodie. Perhaps the younger trainee would be amused to find the hunter confusedly playing with the ears.

The invitation to spar was unexpected, but certainly not unwelcome. She flipped her phone open at the buzz, and though her expression had been puzzled as she wondered who would possibly be texting her now, her lips immediately spread into a grin when she realized who it was. Oho, Eva was always up for a spar! She knew that she needed more practice with people whenever she could get it, and so she did not even hesitate in sending an enthusiastic reply, agreeing to meet him at the appointed time and place.
By the time she arrived, she realized that he was already there...only he was decked out in a hoodie that was, at first glance, unfamiliar as it differed from his usual wear. It took her a full ten seconds before she realized just what he was wearing, and in an instant, her lips spread into a wide smile.
Aww, look at him in that cute bunny hoodie! Trying not to laugh, she quietly moved forward to creep up behind him, reaching up suddenly to gently grab one of the bunny ears and playfully flop it in front of his face.
"Hey there lil bro!" She greeted cheerfully, her usual grin spread over her lips, "How are you doing?"Syusaki IT'S ALL GOOD. OTL Sorry, New Years + my brother's birthday is always busy ladfajsdhf

He flinched slightly when he felt someone’s presence behind him, but as soon as one of the ears was flopped into his face he could guess who the person was. Wilson smiled politely as he turned around to face Eva. He brought up one hand to brush the bunny ear out of his face. “I’m still older than you,” he pointed out patiently. Still, he continued to smile as he pulled down the hood and briefly combed his hair with his fingers.
“I’ve been better, but on the bright side I don’t feel absolutely crummy.” He tugged his goggles off of his head. “Sorry to cut the idle chatter short, but how about we begin?” Wilson took his time putting on his mask and adjusting his cannons. “Make your move, Eva.”

"Doesn't make a difference to me," She answered back just as patiently, her expression pleasant as she linked her fingers together behind her back. The smile on her face faded slightly when Wilson mentioned that he could have been better, but she didn't prod him for more information, simply nodding when he suggested that they get started.
She took a few steps back to stretch before summoning Chara, spinning the staff in her hand. "Ready?" Eva waited for his answer before lunging forward, swinging her weapon out and tripping at the last moment. As a result, the blade went grazing past the young man's shield.
...Whoops.

“So I’ve come to realize,” he answered, chuckling. The slight fade of her smile didn’t go unnoticeable, but Wilson kept smiling softly as he readied his weapon and waited for Eva to make the first move. Wilson rolled his neck once his cannons were ready, the wires clanging against each other.
“Ready when you are.” He half-nodded toward her and bent his knees, ready to jump out of the way. But then she tripped and fell over. Wilson cocked his head at her. While he felt tempted to let her stand up and try again, a real fight would never condone such a thing. He pointed one of his cannons at her and fired.

Ow, goddamnit!
Eva had just been in the midst of getting back to her feet when the attack came, effectively sending her back down onto the ground. There was a sharp pain in her back where she had been struck in the back, followed shortly after by the pain fading into a duller--but no less unpleasant--ache. With a grimace, she quickly pushed herself back up to her feet, haphazardly swinging Chara out in an attempt to hit Wilson.
...Oops, and there her attack goes, missing her target by a mile.

It was easy for the full hunter to step back and avoid Eva’s swing. He couldn’t see the grimace on her face, so it was easy for him to aim his cannon a second time and fire off another round of gas. This cloud was stronger than the last, which made Wilson hesitate slightly. He dropped his arm and tried to peer into the green mist. “Eva, are you okay?” he asked tentatively.

Eva never failed to thank the gods that she was always on this side of the battle field. Time and time again, she had been given a first-hand glance at how strong her peers and friends were...and Wilson's attack just now was a good example of that.
Eyes watering and coughing, she managed a nod and a quiet, "I'm okay" at Wilson's question. However, with the gas cloud having yet to disperse completely, this was the perfect chance.
"Heads up!" With only that as a warning, she suddenly swung Chara out, slamming the staff straight into Wilson's Fear shield.

Eva staggered back at the attack with a grimace, but didn't let it deter her. As she dodged to the side, she turned to eye Wilson quickly, searching for an appropriate opening that she could take advantage of. There had to be an unguarded spot where she could--ah ha! There!
Lips spreading into a grin, she lunged forward, thrusting the bladed end of her weapon towards her opponent and pushing the attack through his defense.

His eyes widened as he realized where Eva intended to hit. Wilson tried to step back to avoid the attack, but in the end he had been too slow. Scowling, he pointed both cannons at the other death hunter and fired.

There really wasn't else that Eva could say. The attack took her breath away, and before she knew what was happening, she was crumpled on the ground and wheezing. Geez, Wilson could definitely get serious when he wanted to, didn't he? She tried to take a few deep breaths, knowing that this spar wouldn't end up well for her if she just sat there.
However, she found that it was a bit of a struggle to force herself back up. The attack had winded her more than she had initially thought, it seemed.
Quickly, Eva! Chara urged, her tone betraying a hint of her panic, You realize that your Fear shield is getting low, don't you?
Grimacing at this, Eva scrambled back onto her feet as quickly as she could, using her staff as support. However, although she managed to get herself back up, she wasn't steady enough to aim another attack out at Wilson.

Eva still didn’t cry out. He assumed she was still okay. The hunter knew she could heal herself, and he guessed she was going to take the time to do just that. As Wilson waited a few seconds, a retaliatory attack never came. Yes, she was probably healing herself. Any other option simply did not enter his head as he strode forward to aim both his cannons at the obscured figure in the mist. He didn’t need to walk further because he already knew who it was. He fired two shots before he stopped to let the cloud ******** weapon clattered to the ground by Eva as he ripped off his mask and waved away the last remnants of the gas. “Crapcrapcrap Eva are you okay? Wait no, you are definitely not okay you are dying s**t no I didn’t…!” He placed her head on her lap and hissed, “Come on, at least open your eyes….”
How many times had he summoned his weapon since fighting the horsemen? Countless times, and yet he still didn’t realize there was a gem embedded on his weapon. As Wilson continued to hiss and mutter, the gem glimmered.

Eva didn't even have any time to process what was happening. When the burst of gas suddenly surrounded her, she instinctively gasped...which obviously turned out to be a very stupid idea considering the situation she was in. Her chest burned from the lungful of poisonous gas that she had unwittingly breathed in, her head beginning to spin.
Eva! Get out of there now!
She didn't need to be told twice. However, as she stumbled to the side, she found herself stepping into the other cloud of gas that the second shot had produced. Vision flickering now, she lost her balance, collapsing onto the ground as she desperately took in small, shallow breaths. For a few seconds, her lungs continued to burn, but then everything began to numb, her limbs growing heavy. By the time Wilson had reached her, her eyes had already slid closed, the only indication that she was still alive being the miniature rise and fall of her chest.
For what it was worth, if Eva was conscious, she would have been happy to assure Wilson that it was fine. Hey, dying by poison gas definitely beat getting accidentally chopped in two or something, right?

“Eva, come on. You’ll be fine. You’ll be fine. Everything will be okay. Everything will be okayeverythingwillbeokay…” He repeated the words over and over; they were comforting despite the fact that no things would not be okay.
He blinked and he had to wonder, had Eva always worn this much white? Sure, hunter jackets were white, but she wasn’t in her coat anymore. Her usual clothes were replaced with something else entirely. Wilson stared open-mouthed, but as he blinked again she was back to her usual outfit, blood-stained and all. But as he looked, her shield was completely repaired, good as new.
Wilson heaved forward suddenly as a feeling of uncertainty and paranoia plagued him. While Eva’s head still rested in his lap, he lightly grasped his head with both hands while he stared into nothingness with wide eyes. There was an empty feeling in stomach, a feeling that craved for something he couldn’t quite put his fingers on and his entire being was screaming for moremoremore. He had to get more before…!
“I’m sorry.” The feeling wouldn’t go away. It clung to him restlessly. Panicked, Wilson gently laid Eva’s head on the grass. “You’re okay now, right? Y-You can get yourself to the infirmary, right?” One hand still held onto the side of his head as he began to slowly walk backwards. If Eva looked his way, the doubt and fear was evident, playing across his face like a frightened child, and the look never disappeared as he turned around and ran.
