The only dragons, aside from rumors of a few smaller, winged brethren. He was oft in search of these little-dragons, it was perhaps the only reason he bothered conversing with the kimeti, or the other lesser species. That was what had drawn him away, a chance word on a happenstance wind. A fruitless venture, as had all the others before it. Perhaps they were alone after all.

Loneliness was one of the few emotions that truly touched him, turned his heart and head from the daily needs of existence. It had drawn him home.

That was when he'd seen them, or rather caught scent of it. A kimeti buck. And Stormborn, and that telltale musk. He had the respect to reserve his disapproval for the next morning. This morning. Now.

"Sister," he said in greeting, his voice a familiar rumble, one that only she could hear the warmth in when he called to her. But that usual warmth was fainter now, replaced with consternation. She knew what he had seen. She knew what he thought of it.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. They certainly were the last of the kind, but despite that they did not gather all too often. Barely a stone's throw from where their father made his inhospitable home in a dry and dark cave, he was the geographical closest but the one seen the least. Their sister was seen hardly more often than their father, and their mother? Forget it. The definitively dragon brother and sister were closest, in every sense of the word- though their definition of 'close' was a far cry from the norm.

Stormborn knew that her brother was close by, it was hard to miss the scent he carried on his scales. Just like their father, if only a bit darker, with occasional hint of unfamiliar earth especially if he had been recently traveling. She knew he was there but she did not cease with the kimeti buck. Why should she?

The morning came and Frostnip left, leaving the way clear for Rises Again. Stormborn languidly lounged, legs tucked neatly against her sides while her tail swished lazily in the dirt.

"Brother," she returned his greeting in her venomously sweet way, dripping with toxic promises and blatant swagger to push the buttons she knew would set him off. He knew she was not as elitist as he. He knew she had probably done simply to irk him.

His eyes narrowed at her greeting, his molten gaze hooded. Typical Stormborn. Perhaps she'd even timed her dallying with his arrival, he certainly wouldn't put that past her. A part of him wondered if confronting her about it would only make it worse. A part of him presumed she wouldn't give a damn either way. A part of him was seething. And she remained silent.

"Will you make me say it?" He growled, but the question was rhetorical. Both of them knew she would, and the dark pause that followed was more in acknowledgement of that than anything else. He took a step forward, neck arched, his tail giving a slow lash from one side to the other, a motion that was both restrained and violent. His words rumbled in his chest like her namesake.

"You befoul yourself, with him and his ilk. Such behavior... it is beneath us, Sister."

His eyes narrowed and hers widened. Where he glared, Stormborn practically grinned toothily. She might be more subtle with her taunting if it was anyone but her brother, but he was so easy to provoke. It might please him to know that she did not, in fact, time her company with his arrival- but if he did not ask, she would not tell. Why not let him think otherwise? It was more interesting for her that way.

As her brother growled, Stormborn nearly giggled. Some sound akin to a giggle squeaked out, if only to serve as a brief interruption of the dark pause following Rises Again's words. Of course he had to say it. Though he step forward in an attemp to no doubt intimidate her, the scaled doe stood her ground and defiantly met her older brother's molten gaze. No matter how many times he attempted to stand over her, she would always rise again- like his namesake.

"Befoul myself? Speak carefully, brother," she sneered at the scaled buck so like their father. "Who would you have me choose, hmm? What other dragons are there who could give me strong children? Frostnip was a better choice than many."

I'm realizing that Rises Again is deep down secretly won't even admit it to himself lonely <3

"I'd have you wait," he replied instantly, jaws snapping closed over the last word. He shook his head, his mane settling back over his shoulders. Honestly, even himself or their father might have been a better choice, but the thought was a vile one, and he knew better than to speak that aloud. "There may be others out there. You might go look for them yourself, seeing as you have nothing better to do."

Sorry it took me so long, love. I got sick briefly but I'm feeling up to things again. <3

The fire-eyed doe gazed at her brother carefully, scrutinizing his harsh exterior and not for the first time wondering if there was ore empathy underneath than the world could ever imagine. But she would be herself; a flip of her dark hair over her shoulder accompanied by an indignant snort alerted Rises Again to how unenthusiastic his sister was about the idea of waiting.

"I won't be like you, brother, if that's what you imply," the dark sister sneered with a teasing edge to her voice. "Shall I walk the earth, so desperately alone? How long will you roam? You never find anything." Fire Made Flesh had long resigned himself to solitude; his son's foolish quest to find other dragonkin was just that. Foolish. Stormborn was the only one with enough brazen courage to tell him to his face. Granted, she came off more condescending than caring but no matter she was still the only one to provide voice to the family's thoughts.

No worries, dearie <333 I'm so glad you're feeling better! Never a rush to tag, I only force myself to do it ASAP or you'll be waiting for like two months lol >>

And ooh, Rises has a vocabulary :O

A growl rumbled in his throat at her snort, but it slowly died at her words. Particularly at "desperate." Were he one to wince, he might have at that - instead he stiffened, a subtle shift of scales and a tensing of the tail. He was not desperate. He was not. And she was teasing. He knew his sister and her games, as much as she enjoyed them there was caring in her taunt. Concern even.

But the truth in her words stung more than he could admit, and suddenly he was lashing back.

"And would it be better if I were like you?" he hissed, neck snaking out, fangs emerging. "Mounting the next available orifice like a b***h in heat, popping out half-breeds like rabbits in the spring?"

My, my, my! Rises Again is positively venomous. Its adorable. ;]

If it had been any other doe, Rises Again might find that his words pierced through flesh and stung the heart. But alas, it was Stormborn. And she simply giggled. His aim had surely been to lash back and provoke some hurt within his sister that he was feeling, but the cold-hearted female was far too apathetic to let it get to her. But she did see irony in his words, hence the laughter.

"You should try it sometime, brother. Maybe you wouldn't feel so... tense," she drawled huskily, stepping forward to brush her cheek against his and whisper the last word in his ear.

Lol he's surprisingly straightforward, easy pickings for his sister xD

She giggled, and he sighed, a guttural rumble that hissed through his teeth. Typical. Typical Stormborn. He opened his mouth to snap something back at her, perhaps a jab at that, the Swamp would never know, because then the dragoness stepped forward to whisper huskily into his ear, and his mind erupted.

Yes he desired it. It was built into all of them, the desire to procreate. And he was a dragon. He was a dragon. The world was his to claim, and yet they were alone. Alone. With but his sister. And he would not, could not turn to her for this - their line would be a crippled sorry shame to their species. And she was Stormborn. His sister. His infuriating-

"ENOUGH." The word was a roar, never mind how close to her head it was. His jaws snapped closed after it, and he turned away, collecting himself.

omg I suck so bad at keeping up with my RPs lately DDDD; <3333333333

Pride swelled within the scaled doe, pride in herself that Rises Again opened his mouth and was about to make a retort no doubt scathing and viscous. Precisely what she had set out to do; push his buttons and simply see how much she could incite within her brother. So far, she had to admit, she was doing a pretty bangup job.

The effect her physical closeness had on the buck was plainly evident, at least for the doe that was quite possibly the most intimately familiar with him. Out on the road, constantly moving and searching, without a thought for anything but the end goal. Was there any time for social interaction? Romance? Base desires?

Stormborn was willing to bet no.

A sudden eruption of a roar, tearing from the throat of the dragonbuck, elicited the most minuscule flinch from the dragondoe. A single step was taken backwards, away from her brother with a rumbling- mocking, even- groan. "You always ruin all my fun," Stormborn lamented with a toss of the dark hair around her neck.

BAM. TAG. Somewhat dramatic, Rises seems to like that lol.

"Fun," he echoed roughly. The word was almost a laugh, almost a scoff, almost a groan, not quite derisive, but not quite giving in. Whether he was referring to her poking fun at him, or the fun she'd had last night, or the irony of the word on all fronts it was impossible to tell. His voice saying it was raw and thick, and he shook his head, resettled his mane, clearing his thoughts.

"You have the most twisted sense of fun, sister." This was a sigh, rumbling from his throat, discontent but not without a resigned acceptance. He turned back to her, meeting her eyes. His own gaze was hard as ever, but there was a solemn warmth there, a warmth only his infuriating sister ever drew from him. He cared for her, deeply, and while he never said it, he took no pains to hide it.

"I wanted better for you." Better for all of us.
