...Quite literally too.
He was quite the angel. He died as a soldier; lived by rules his entire life. He was about sick of them when he realized just how many Heaven held in store for him. It wasn't long before he was one of the ne'er-do-wells in the Holy land. He refused to follow most rules there. It didn't get him anywhere good. In fact, it got his wings stripped. He was sent back to earth, a human once more. And he would be stuck there until he could save a human.

Well, that wouldn't be too hard for him. Not when he sees her. She's in more danger than she thinks, which makes his job a bit easier. Afterall, if Angels are real, so are demons. And a lot of demons are after a soul like hers. Now all he has to do is gain her trust and be her body guard without letting her know anything. Shouldn't be too hard... right?

((Sorry for the delay. My internet/whole computer is being mean...))
Daren

Daren screamed in terror as he was shoved from what seemed to be the clouds of the human world. Without his wings, that was going to be a terrible fall. Fortunately, it was snowing, so when he landed so far below in a snow mound, he only felt minor pain. Wait. Pain... He could feel that again? He sighed. Of course I can. I'm mortal again, He reminded himself. He looked around with his bright blue eyes and found himself thankful. No one was around. Then again, it was pretty cold. Not many people would be out, right? A small shiver went through him and he looked around again. His eyes lit up when he saw a cafe. Warm coffee is coming my way, He thought happily.
With that, Daren shook snow out of his blonde hair and set off. As soon as he made it down the street and into the cafe, he sighed, relieved at the warmth. After all, he really wasn't wearing shoes. And he was in a white wife-beater with camo pants. He was wearing what he had been wearing when he died. There wasn't really a reason to change when you're dead, after all. He bit his lip when he saw that there were still bullet holes on his shirt, surrounded by blood. The only relief he found was that the wounds no longer hurt. They were scarred over and everything.

(( It's totally fine haha ^^ Just so you're aware, I was planning on making my girl like 20, so not in high school. ))

Sarabelle was on her way to work at the little cafe near her apartment. It had been a very long day, starting at 8AM with her run, consisting of running errands, helping at the animal shelter, and now she had work until nine. And then she had to go home and work on her online class that she was taking from the community college. She was falling behind with the class with everything else that she had to do, but paying the rent came before an education unfortunately. Once she got to work, her cheeks were a bright pink from walking through the cold and she hurried into the back, greeting her co-workers before she clocked in and removed her winter coat, gloves, and hat. She hung them on the rack in the back, then straightened herself up a bit before asking the other waitress, Jade, who was working that night which tables were her's. With a nod, she smiled at Jade and said she'd take the man who just walked in. He was wearing odd clothing for how cold it was outside, but she approached him cheerily none the less.

When she made it over to him however, about to show him to a table, she kind of gasped a bit since the bloodied holes in his shirt. "Are you alright sir?" she asked carefully, concern laced in her voice as she studied him. He seemed very out of place in his camouflage pants and white, bloodied beater. Almost like he was straight out of a war or something. It was very odd. "Would you like to sit down, can I get anything for you?" she asked gently, not asking because it was her job too but because she was worried about him. She couldn't see any actual wounds, and he didn't seem to be bleeding or anything, but his clothing made it look like he'd been shot, so she was definitely worried.

Daren

Daren yawned as he looked around the cafe. "Quaint little place..." He mumbled to himself. He leaned against the wall to stay out of the way. But his eyes were drawn to a girl about his age coming over to him. He blinked down at her. Mighty polite human, He thought, feeling impressed. Most humans were selfish. This girl seemed.. concerned. She seemed like a good candidate for his mission, but he needed to wait. There were over a thousand people in their town after all.

He blinked again when she started talking. "Huh? Oh... oh yeah, I'm fine. A bit sore from a little fall, but other than that I'm splendid," He announced with a shrug that caused him to wince. He saw her looking at his get up. "Oh. Well... this is for a little play. For charity," he lied. It was pretty believable. Because who in their right mind walked around like that on a normal basis? But if it were a costume, he'd get off a lot easier. He shoved his hands into his pockets. "Uh... yeah... a booth would be cool if you have one open," He said, starting to walk to a seat. "And.. maybe a french vanilla cappuccino," He requested, looking at a menu quickly. "Do you guys have any cakes or anything. "I'm starving," He mumbled, rubbing his stomach.

(( Decided to change my picturee haha xD ))

Belle nodded when he said he was a bit sore, but otherwise fine. When he explained why he looked the way he did however, she let out a small sigh and smiled wide, obviously becoming much more relaxed once she realized that he wasn't hurt. "Oh, well that's awesome, good to hear you're not actually injured." she said happily, smiling at him. Grabbing a menu from the stand by the door, she nodded when he said he wanted a booth and led him over to one, handing him the menu as he sat down. "There you sir, and ok, one french vanilla cappuccino coming up." She scribbled what he wanted down on a little pad of paper she was holding and looked back at him, about to ask if there was anything else he wanted when he asked about cake.

Smiling sweetly, she gently flipped his menu to the back, pointing to the dessert section. "Ya, we've got some pies and cakes, as well as some other desserts. Pretty basic stuff, like cherry, apple, or pumpkin pie and chocolate or carrot cake." she said, answering his question about the cakes. She waited for his response, assuming that him asking about the cakes meant he wanted to order a slice, especially since he was rubbing his stomach and saying he was starving. She had forgotten to introduce herself like she normally did because of the whole thinking he was injured thing, but she had a name-tag pinned to her top, so he could figure it out pretty easily if need be.

Daren

Daren was very pleased with this girl's attitude. "Yeah, the costume girl is fairly talented, don't ya think?" He asked, smiling a charming crooked smile. He slouched down in his seat and looked over the food part of the menu. "Well, it all looks good," He said to himself as she listed off the choices. He looked around before laying the menu down and thinking. He hadn't eaten in a few years (he hadn't needed to), so he wanted to make his first meal good. "Well, Ms. Sarabelle. I'm pretty okay with chocolate cake, myself," he said, grinning. He seemed to be quite the charmer with new people.

"Also," He began, standing back up. "You have a bit of something on your shirt there," Daren noted. He gently brushed what seemed to be dust or maybe flakes of snow that came off her jacket and just hadn't melted yet. "There ya go," He told her politely. He was trying to get on her good side, but he was genuinely trying to be nice to her. After all, she had been nice to him.

Belle grinned when he mentioned that the costume girl was talented. She nodded, saying "Ya, it looks very realistic." She almost laughed, but just smiled a little more instead, feeling kind of silly about her initial reaction. She had all but freaked out thinking he was injured, only to find out he was just in a costume. She waited patiently as he decided on what he wanted, smiling brightly when he said he'd take the chocolate cake. "Good choice, the chocolate cake is delicious." she said happily, scribbling that down as well. Just as she was about to walk away however, he stood up and brushed off something that was stuck to her shirt. A very faint blush crossed her cheeks and she smiled at him, saying "Thank you, I appreciate it. And I'll be right back with that cake and cappuccino."

She then turned around and headed to the kitchen, tearing her order from her little notebook and handing it to the chef, who added it to the other few orders in front of him. She then walked back out to check on a few more customers, seating them and getting their orders. She glanced back over at the man with the costume on and smiled at him a bit before disappearing into the kitchen again. When she re-emerged, she was balancing a few drinks and his cake. She stopped at the other tables and dropped off their drinks, making sure everyone was good to go before she headed over to Daren's table with his order. Placing the cappuccino and cake down in front of him carefully, she said "Here you go, enjoy. Is there anything else or are you okay for now?" She smiled sweetly at him as she pulled a few napkins and a straw from her pack she had tied around her waist, placing them on the table for him.

Daren

Daren watched with a tilted head as he watched her bustling around like a busy bee. "Dedicated too," He said quietly before looking out the window. He couldn't believe how fast everything had happened. In only a year, he had gone from a well respected angel, to a rogue angel, to a mortal. All that remained of his death were the scars on his chest from being shot, and the long slits on his back that told where his wings used to be. And now what? He had to find a human worthy of being protected with his life? That was no easy task. Still, this SaraBelle character was looking more and more worthy every second. the cheery smile she wore with all the customers. That took true patience and character.

Daren was easily pulled from his trance when she returned. He eyes the beverage happily and gripped it in his hands. "Oh, that feels great," He announced with a happy smile. "You're a very good server," He said, still smiling. He looked down at the utensils given and looked. "I think I'm good. Thank you, SaraBelle," He announced, setting into eating his cake. "And give compliments to the chef for me," He said as he swallowed.

Belle smiled brightly when he gripped the warm drink in his hands, saying that it felt great. She loved that feeling, the immediate warmth it brought when you came in from the cold. When he said she was a very good server, she laughed gently and smiled brightly at him, saying "Well thanks, you're a very nice costumer. Most aren't so talkative, it's a nice change." She grinned a bit and nodded when he said he was good for now, saying "I'll let him know, he'll appreciate it." She smiled happily and was off again, back to the kitchen. Laughter could be heard coming from the kitchen when Belle told the chef of the man's compliment and when she reemerged from the kitchen balancing plates, she was smiling happily, obviously enjoying herself.

She was always happy, but work was usually pretty boring around here, so she was glad this costumer was livening things up a bit. She tended to her other tables, but when she reached one of her other costumers, an older man sitting alone, she accidentally tipped over his water glass when she placed it on the table. It spilled across the table and a little bit on the costumer, but really not much at all. "I'm so sorry! I'll get some towels to wipe that up sir, I'm so sorry." she said genuinely, her face flushing red. The man at the bench grumbled angrily and when Belle hurried off to the kitchen to clean up the mess, he made some rather loud nasty comments about her as she was gone.

She returned quickly and clean up all the water on the table, offering him a dry towel to dab himself off. "I really am sorry about that sir, I'm usually not such a klutz." she said, smiling apologetically at him. "Whatever, just go get me a new water." he said angrily, dabbing himself off and pretty much thrusting the glass at her. She was a bit taken aback but nodded and took off into the kitchen, blushing a bit more and obviously affected by how rude he was. She hated when people were unnecessarily rude, it just didn't seem right.

Daren

Daren was enjoying his meal with a small smile. It was then that he realized that he didn't have any money. He looked up at the sky with a cursing glare. Great. So he had wasted his own time and SaraBelle's and the chef's. He pushed it away with a sigh. As sick of rules as he was, he had his own morals. He wouldn't eat what he couldn't pay for. Then, as he started to think on it, he realized his full situation. He didn't have any money or any clothes or a home. He had been sent down to nothing. "Yeah. You're great, Lord," He hissed, glaring out at the snow. His eyes snapped up when he heard the commotion and he found himself glaring at the elderly man. He almost stood and went to Belle's rescue, but he decided against it. He didn't need to cause a scene. He bit his lip and continue to scavenge his pockets for money, but couldn't find any.

With that, he raised his hand and waited for Belle patiently. When she arrived, he eyed her with a lot of guilt in his eyes. "Well... I'm afraid I've wasted your time. I don't have any money on me. At all. And I was looking forward to giving you quite a tip for your great service," He said sighing a bit. "But I will be back with your money. I swear it on my soul," He announced with an apologetic smile. "This isn't a habit for me or anything. I don't really have much money to my name at all at the moment. Pretty much afraid I'm about to have my home taken from me," He said with a huff. That way if she saw him on the streets wearing the same clothes, he could say that they took everything because he couldn't pay for it. And maybe she'd feel some sympathy. Here was a really nice guy, giving up his food because he didn't have money, yet he was taking his time to go do a "charity" play. Oh Lord, he hoped she bought it. It was all he could do since he couldn't tell her the truth.

Belle brought the man who had caused a scene his water and the food he had ordered, placing them down successfully this time. She was very polite despite how upset he made her from being so rude. She never really got angry at people, more so upset than anything else. After dealing with her cranky costumer, she checked on a couple she was serving before seeing Daren's had straight up in the air, looking a bit impatient. She walked over to him and made her smile reappear, despite being upset. When he told her about his predicament, a sad look appeared in her eyes and she was shaking her head gently by the time he finished speaking.

"Don't worry about it, really. I can't imagine what you're going through with the possibility of losing your home. Save your money to get yourself out of your predicament, I can spot you for this meal. It's no trouble at all." she said, concern laced in her voice as she spoke to him. She cared so much for others that it broke her heart that he was going through this. His kind attitude towards her was enough of a payment, she could cover this one little meal for him.

Daren

Daren smiled brightly at her. "Thank you so much," He said. That was all it took. Any human that was willing to pay for his meal was genuine at heart. He would protect this woman, then.. He stood and stretched, preparing himself to leave. "Well, it really was quite nice. I'll have to come by again. Ya know... when I have money," He announced with an awkward chuckle. He looked back out the window at the snow and sighed. He didn't look forward to going back out in it, but what had to be done, had to be done. "And I'll be sure to give a double tip if you're my waitress again," He added before taking one last sip of his cappuccino and starting to head out again. Someone else offered him a jacket, which he happily took with a gracious nod and thank you. Was he being rewarded for his patience?

Well, whatever the reason, Daren didn't hesitate to slip it on and shove his hands in the pockets before heading out. He had to find somewhere to go where he could disappear for a few hours to pretend he was going to a play. Something told him telling SaraBelle that he was in a war two years prior and was shot down as a P.O.W wouldn't go down well... at all. Still... he thought he was starting off well. Then he started thinking. Why rush things? He was tired of living by Heaven's rules, and he was free of them (for the most part) now. Now he got a fresh start, and there was no way he was going back yet.

"Your welcome, and good luck with everything, I hope it all works out for you." she said with a genuine smile, watching him as he stood up and stretched. She smiled a bit more when he said he'd have to come back again and hopefully she'd be his waitress. "Well, I hope next time I see you you're not worrying about losing your home, and thank you. Have a nice night!" she said, smiling and waving a bit at him as he left the cafe. She then busied herself with grabbing his plate and empty cup, bringing them back to the kitchen. She went to the register and put in the bill, pulling money from her own pocket to pay it. One of her co-workers asked her about it and shook her head a bit after Belle explained the situation. It was obvious the other girl thought Sarabelle was being taken advantage of by this stranger, but Belle believed his story completely, what reason did he have to lie? Lying was something she didn't tolerate at all, so she always held onto the hope that most people would tell the truth.

Once that was taken care of, she returned to her other customers, the night going still as it approached nine, the time the cafe was due to close. Once they were all done and all the customers were gone, Belle helped clean up. She let the other waitress and the rest of the employees go home first, since they'd been there longer, and finished the cleaning herself before locking up the cafe. She'd been working there for about three years now, so the owner trusted her enough to give her a key - he knew she could be trusted. Slipping the key in her pocket as she walked out into the chilly winter air, she shivered a bit, despite being bundled up in her winter coat. She hurried home, not liking being out on the streets alone at night. Once home, she wiggled the key in the lock and was pretty much tackled by her Siberian husky, Nakita, or Nikki, when she opened the door to her small home. "Nikki, geese, calm down!" Belle said through a fit of giggles, managing to pull the door shut behind her as the dog barked happily.

"Shhh, you'll wake up the neighbors." she said with a small laugh, flipping on the lights in her home. She then walked through the kitchen to the back door. Flipping on the outside light for the back porch, she let Nikita out to do her business. She waited by the door until her dog was done, than let her back inside, locked the back door, and turned off the porch light. "Feel better now girl?" she said, crouching down and petting Nikki for a minute. She laughed a bit more as the energetic husky licked her face, Belle sprang up from where she was squatting on the floor, making Nikki's ears perk up and her tail wag. Belle grinned wide and said "Wana race?" With that, she took off up the stairs, giggling hard when she heard Nikita bark and take off after her. The outcome was inevitable, and by the time Belle reached her room, trying to stifle her laughter so she could breathe, Nikita was sitting on her bed, looking quite proud of herself. Belle flopped on the bed and finally calmed her laughter, saying "You ever gonna let me win girl?" Nikita barked and layed down beside Belle, nuzzling her head in Belle's hair.

Belle just rested there for a good fifteen minutes before she finally got up, taking off her winter gear and throwing it on the floor. She then went into the bathroom and got a quick shower. Once she was out, she dried out her long dirty blonde hair with her towel and let it down over her shoulders, where it rested mid-torso. She then dressed in a pair of flannel pajama pants and a white tank top, walking over to her desk and grabbing her laptop and books. She brought everything over to her bed, where her dog was sleeping now, and made herself comfortable before starting to work on her college class. By the time 1 AM rolled around, Belle was finally done catching up. Tiredly, she put away her laptop and books, set her alarm, then fell asleep cuddled up next to Nikita.

Daren

Daren sighed. He trudged around the snow for a couple hours, regretting not taking the coffee with him. Well, I hope next time I see you you're not worrying about losing your home.. SaraBelle had said in a chipper tone. Well. He'd be worried about avoiding frostbite because he no longer had to worry about the home he never had. He puffed out a breath. "So you make me lie anddd make me look like a homeless guy. Yeah. Thanks," He growled.

"No problem," A voice said from behind him. Daren turned to see a man a bit taller than he was. The newcomer had red hair and was pretty pale. He was stunning- as most angels were. "What right do you have to complain any way?" The man asked. "You're the one that got tired of the home most people long for."

"I have the right to complain because I don't have money or a house," Daren spat at the angel. "I got my human. Can't I at least get a bonus?" He asked.

"Well. I suppose I can give you some money. It'll buy you clothes. And money for food. But the house, you're on your own with," The angel announced. "And I'd be careful swearing on your soul like that. You have it back now, afterall," He added, brushing a red lock from his face. "Oh, and another thing to look out for would be demons. I hear there's a little leak of them here and there," He said lazily before poofing.

Daren seethed, thinking his money had been forgotten, but then a wallet appeared on the ground with hundreds and twenties in it. "Oh my God, yes," Daren said gratefully. For the night, everything was closed, but the next day, he could get clothes and more food. On account of a home? Daren went looking for an abandoned place. He soon found one that was recently moved out of. It was still pretty nice. It still had furniture in it. He could stay there for the night, and then tell SaraBelle it had been taken from him because he got the money a day too late from family. The government was cruel like that after all. He snickered at his plan before going into the home and curling up on the couch and starting to fall asleep.

When Belle's alarm went off the next morning at 7:30, Nikita starting barking like always and howling a bit too. She seemed to like to howl along to the songs on the radio that went off with Belle's alarm in the morning. Groaning unhappily, Belle rolled over and hit the "off" button on the alarm, rubbing her eyes as she glared at the clock. Nikki had stopped her howling and barking when the alarm was turned off and was just standing by the bed, staring at Belle and wagging her tail, knowing it was time for breakfast. "Alright, alright, I'm getting up." she said tiredly. She hoisted herself out of bed and walked into the bathroom, using the bathroom and washing her face to wake herself up a bit. She then headed downstairs and filled Nikki's bowl with the appropriate amount of food. Nikita barked happily in response and started eating, so Belle turned to the cabinet and grabbed a bagel, popping it in the toaster oven.

She grabbed a banana as well and munched on that while she waited for her bagel to toast. She was finished her banana by the time the bagel was done and she took it out of the toaster oven, putting cream cheese on it. Nikita finished her food by the time Belle's bagel was ready, so she set it down on the plate for a moment and let her husky outside to do her business. Belle closed the door and sat down at the table, eating her bagel and watching Nikita run and jump around outside. She put her plate in the dishwasher and let Nikita back in, then went to change for her run. "You ready to go?" she asked Nikki, who was sitting in front of the door, whining. She loved these morning runs a lot more than Belle did. Smiling brightly, she clicked Nikita's leash into place and made sure she had her key before she walked out the front door, locking it behind her. Nikita and Belle ran for about half an hour, pausing occasionally to catch their breath.

When they got back, Belle locked the door behind them when they entered and let Nikki off her leash. The excited pup was worn out now and plopped on the floor right by the door, watching as Belle disappeared upstairs to shower. Once Belle was all showered up and dressed for the day she checked the clock - 9:30 AM. "I'm going to the grocery store!" she called after her as she left her home, leaving Nikita sleeping by the front door. Belle jumped in her car out front and drove to the store a few miles away, parking and heading inside. Once inside, she grabbed a cart and started shopping around, checking her list as she browsed through the aisles.
