· Personality :: As the royal heir to the Royal Family, Ryōga acts in an aristocratic manner — he always seems serene and apathetic towards other people, even while actually deeply conflicted. He is also notably calm, even in battle. He generally acts indifferent, bordering on arrogance, to most situations that he is faced with as shown from how he rarely views his opponent as being worth his time. Ryōga is very perceptive and is fully aware of the limits of his abilities and usually anything he states in comparison to an opponent is justified. However, when he was younger, he was quick to anger and very hotheaded.
Ryōga strongly believes in law and order. As the future ruler of Fishman Island and as a Marine Admiral, he works hard for a peaceful society. He feels that if someone in his position does not follow the rules as a good example, no one else will. He also believes that to maintain the order, all law-breakers must be punished, even if it goes against his own wishes. In spite of his icy and regal manner, Ryōga cares for and protects those important to him.

·Biography ::
Within a secluded room of the Royal Palace, the current king and queen were anxiously awaiting the birth of their first born child and the initial heir of the throne. When the time had arrived, the couple were relived to see they were the proud parents of a healthy boy. The boy whom they had named 'Ryōga.' As a member of the Royal Family, Ryōga was raised with delicacy and care, being taught how to properly behave and act while learning all there was for him to properly rule the kingdom and all it's inhabitants; During these teachings, he was also enrolled in the Karate Dojo to being training in Fishman Karate. With so much for Kougaji to learn and do, he had ended up being raised in a relatively sheltered atmosphere which caused him to develop a mildly distant relationship from others, both in and outside of the kingdom.
It was not until his fifth birthday did the young fishman be introduced to others as a means of gaining not only respect but developing a relationship with those he was soon to both serve and rule. Alas, this small endeavor had backfired as Ryōga was kidnapped by revolutionaries that had chosen to take him and with the prince under their command and the kingdom in a frenzy, the could perform a preemptive strike and bring it to the ground. Their plan had backfired however, when the young Ryōga's hidden abilities had become present. During the chaos that surrounded the boy, he accidentally summoned multiple sea kings to the location of his entrapment. The events ended with a few sea king returning the young prince to the palace and his parents taking note that he had received the gift of his grandmother and now was the current 'Poseidon.'
News had rapidly spread about Ryōga's awakening and that the fishman empire had once more obtained their most powerful weapon and as a result the world government had labeled the island as a hostile area and was to be eliminated. Something that the King and his council were not at all fond of..
Soon enough a human was sent to the kingdom as a means to negotiate a surrender; But instead they were presented with a deal. By having Ryōga join the marines where they could properly keep an eye on the boy and as a result the islands would be placed in the governments protection. Seeing the only other option as a war between the government and the fishman race. The king agreed to the terms and soon enough Ryōga was sent away to be supervised and eventually trained by marine forces...
A decade had passed, and upon the date of his nineteenth birthday, Ryōga returned to his family as a Marine Vice-Admiral. His natural skill, strength and even his upbringing assisted him in the rapid climbing of the marine ranks; oddly enough with the nomination of being one of the next Admirals. He had chosen to wait until his return from his home before he could accept the offer. When he returned home, he had instructed his father that he was to be an Admiral, but wanted to complete his training in Fishman Karate first. Knowing that he was soon to be the ruler of the kingdom; He wanted to make his first actual act of royalty by easing the tensions between Humans and the Fishman race. With his fathers blessing, the prince went on to master the fighting style of his people before returning to the Marines by accepting the title of Admiral and choosing to serve the people.

·Fighting Style :: Fishman Karate (魚人空手 Gyojin Karate?)

·Description :: Fishman Karate is a martial art that is practiced by certain skilled members of the fishman race. While deadly enough on land, Fishman Karate has a number of devastating underwater moves designed to be suitable with the Fishmen strength and speed along with the mobility that goes while under water and, in some cases, a fishman's personal adaptation (fins, teeth, etc.).
According to Jinbe, the secret of Fishman Karate is mastery of the water in the user's direct vicinity, using its power to send powerful waves impacting the water within the opponent's body. Since every living creature is nothing more than a mass of water, the users of Fishman Karate are able to battle opponents that are usually highly resistant (if not immune) against blows and punches. Jinbe also displayed that Fishman Karate can be used effectively on land as he can utilize the water in the atmosphere and make use of it to attack.

· The Fang :: Ryōga's signature technique, by combining the concept of the Rankyaku with his natural fishman strength along with the adaptation of water through his Gyojin Karate; Ryōga has developed a more devastatingly powerful version of Rankyaku with explosive properties.
· Karakusagawara Seiken (唐草瓦正拳 Karakusa-gawara Seiken?, literally meaning "Arabesque Tile True Punch") :: A punch from a fair distance from the intended target(s), so instead of the fist connecting, it uses the water vapor in the air to release a shock wave that sends them flying. This move has a delayed effect, as the shock wave takes a while to affect the opponent(s).
· Gosenmaigawara Seiken (五千枚瓦正拳 Gosenmai-gawara Seiken?, literally meaning "Five Thousand Tile True Punch") :: A much-stronger version of the Senmaigawara Seiken. It is a very powerful punch, able to knock out a Demon Guard in one strike. It is used like an uppercut, rather than a straight punch, sending the opponent flying skywards
· Samehada Shotei (鮫肌掌底 Samehada Shōtei?, literally meaning "Sharkskin Palm Block") :: A simple palm block with enough force behind it to slap away a sword swing from the shadow-powered Gekko Moriah.
· Samegawara Seiken (鮫瓦正拳 Same-gawara Seiken?, literally meaning "Shark Tile True Fist") :: A powerful straight punch that is strong enough to send the shadow-powered Gekko Moriah reeling. It is unknown as to how strong this technique is, compared to either his Karakusagawara Seiken or his Gosenmaigawara Seiken. In the anime, a shock wave passes through Moriah's back, similar to the Sai Dai Rin: Rokuogan technique.
· Nanasenmaigawara Mawashigeri (七千枚瓦回し蹴り Nanasenmai-gawara Mawashigeri?, literally meaning "Seven Thousand Tile Roundhouse Kick"): :: Ryōga performs a roundhouse kick, which is strong enough to block the gigantic Wadatsumi's punch and break one of his fingers.
· Umidaiko (海太鼓 Umidaiko?, literally meaning "Ocean Drum"):: Ryōga punches the water in front of him pushing it at his opponent and sending a shockwave through it. The shockwave hits the opponent dealing great damage and leaving a pressure mark on his body.
· Uchimizu (撃水 Uchimizu?, literally meaning "Water Shot") :: Ryōga hurls a simple droplet of water at his opponent, which can become a deadly bullet with the kinetic force created by his immense fishman strength.
· Yabusame (矢武鮫 Yabusame?, literally meaning "Arrow Military Shark") :: Ryōga first wets his arm, then he uses his massive strength to throw many drops of water, which are converted into deadly arrows through mere kinetic force. "Yabusame" is a type of traditional Japanese mounted archery. he was able to use this technique underwater, using air bubbles instead of water droplets.
· Ultramarine (ウルトラマリン Urutoramarin?) :: The user grabs the water with their hands, and then hurls it forward in a mighty, extremely large torrent that blasts away his opponents with great force. "Ultramarine" usually refers to a shade of blue and got its name from "ultramarinus", literally meaning "beyond the sea".
· Murasame (群鮫 Murasame?, literally meaning "School of Shark") :: Ryōga rapidly gathers water around his form then throws the water which takes the shape of a flock of sharks which tear into his opponent.
· Gyojin Karate Ogi: Buraikan (魚人空手「奥義」武頼貫 Gyojin Karate Ōgi: Buraikan?, literally meaning "Fishman Karate Ultimate Technique: Mighty Reliant Piercing") :: The most powerful technique of Fishman Karate seen so far, Ryōga hurls a pack of water in his hands and shoots a powerful water shock wave that pierces through his opponent's body.

·Description :: Ryōga is a very proficient hand-to-hand combatant, possessing masterful skill in using it as his primary means of attack. He is equally lethal using punches and kicks, and is highly unpredictable. His fighting technique is incredibly destructive, using his speed and reflexes to quickly take out his opponents. He is skilled enough to hold his own against stronger opponents for short amounts of time.

·Description :: Though he rarely engages in it, Ryōga appears to be highly skilled in swordsmanship. He is capable of using his speed for flawless precision and to inflict lethal attacks without much effort. Ryōga prefers to wield his sword with his right hand, leaving the other hand free, though it usually remains in his pocket.
