Starga’e had finally come into adulthood and it felt great! To shed her childhood furs and grow into an adult female… it was invigorating and sad at the same time. She was at the age in which independence was very much welcome and such feeling demanded an adventure or travel. Sadly the land, in which she called home, Dawnwalker was vastly becoming empty and quiet. Her starry mane swayed in the midnight breeze causing her to close her eyes to enjoy the feeling. It was time. It was time to move on and start something new. Even if that ‘something new’ meant leaving home and her family. She had to do what made her feel happy. Long ago there had been a space inside her that had remained empty and she had yet to fill it. She looked to her parents and pondered what a love such as theirs was like. Oh how she wanted that.

Lan’tis groaned and pawed at the ground enjoying the feel of the land behind his paws. He had been by the sands for too long he had forgotten what dirt had felt like between his paws. The faint smell of the sea made him close his eyes and the faint sound of waves lapping against the surf almost made him pull back. The call of the water was vastly becoming addicting and made him consider leaving such an area was dumb on his part. “No,” The affirmation out loud seemed to help convince him of change. “I need this and what I am feeling can’t be wrong.” Ever since he had awoken this morning there had been this feeling of change in the air one he couldn’t describe. A good feeling not a bad one for which he was grateful.

There she had done it. She had finally crossed the border from Dawnwalker territory to rogue and to be honest she felt uplifted. Something different to be explored… she eyed the green stuff on the ground before her wearily as well as cautiously. It had always interested her as she had seen the stuff from far away but never had she felt it. Only one way to see if was hard or soft… Huh. Interesting. It felt quite lovely on her paws and ever so soft. “Well, let’s get going!” She prep-talked herself into moving forward into the rogue lands and away from her home. She paused a little moment to silently say a farewell. “Good-bye mother, good-bye father, and good-bye sisters as well as brothers. I hope you will forgive me in future for leaving but I need to move on with my life.” The more time passed the more it had gotten colder and caused little shivers to rack through her body. The change of temperatures was quite a shock and not quite what she was use too.

Lan’tis had traveled for some time now not minding how much time had passed. He knew he was heading in the right direction; it was felt in his gut. A sound startled him and caused him to freeze. He knew he was bigger than most but a warrior had to be aware of surroundings as well as dangers. “Come.out.” The words rumbled from his chest in warning. “Hiding is a coward’s way out. Face me.” Acts like this brought out the warrior attitude in him and he had a difficult time shutting it off. Once a warrior always a warrior.

The words suddenly shot out of her before she could stop them. “Sorry.” Never had this happened to her and never had another caught her unaware. The tone of such a voice… it was like soft, warm velvet but then the words were far from pleasant. “I swear to you never am I a coward,” Starga’e wrinkled her nose in distaste. “I am just a traveler just minding my own business until you came along.” She stepped out from the area she had been standing in. “And I don’t apprecia-” She was struck dumb for a minute. All words had left her. He… was almost like her and yet not at the same time. “Lovely.” It would seem her verbal-diarrhea was acting up again and from his amused look she wished that the word could be taken back. It was very rare for her to stumble through meet-n-greets. “Humph.” A frown formed across her face.

Lan’tis tilted his head with admiration. She certainly was a lovely one even if she did look cross. “Oh. My apologizes, I thought you were a threat to me.” He almost snorted out loud when he watched her fur actually puff up in annoyance. Oh dear, it would seem he wasn’t making a good impression at all. A shame she really was something and he felt so drawn to her it was almost as if fate decided to help them along. Maybe he needed to brush up on his social skills; it had been sometime since he had had interaction with others he often forgot social fopaws.

Starga’e ground her teeth silently. Ooooh, he certainly ruffled her fur. His attitude certainly ruined his appearance. “Oh, I can be threatening trust me,” Her smile was all teeth and fangs before she continued. “Suppose I will be on my way then!” She flicked her tail with distain no direction in mind seeing as the land was still all new in her eyes.

“Wait!” Lan’tis didn’t want her to leave and the thought of her going caused such a panicked that he would have to look into later as it was not normal to act as such with a virtual stranger. His words halted the female which he took as a good sign. “Please wait… Sorry about that. My words tend to be on the snarky side and I could really use some company.” He could tell that she wasn’t too convinced. “Let us start over,” He cleared his throat and tried to be as gentlemanly as he could…which wasn’t really a whole lot. He wandered closer and offered his paw “My name is Lan’tis and I once lived among the Dawnwalkers-” He watched her body jerk at the word curiously before continuing. “-but have lived in the Rogue for a few earth circles now. Have you heard of the Dawnwalkers?”

“I… have also lived among the Dawnwalkers…Lan’tis,” Starga’e eyed the male trying to recall if she had seen him before on her once homeland. She would never have forgotten such a face or fur pattern, but then again she never strayed too far from her family. “In fact, I just left them to live among the rogues. The dawnwalker pride has been disbanded and it seemed like a good time to leave.” Her words affected him she could see as such, it had been his home too after all even if he did leave it behind for whatever reason. “My name is Starga’e.” She felt it only right to give her name like he had given his to her as well. “I feel…” She bit her lip and eyed the male. Maybe it would be good to vent to a stranger since he is willing to listen. “That is to say, I wanted change but am worried about surviving alone. I am strong don’t get me wrong but-”

“I understand what you are trying to say.” He spoke when she didn’t continue. “To be alone is… unhealthy and can be a hard way of life. I do understand wanting something new but with that come’s responsibility and a lot more work seeing as you can only depend on yourself.” He cleared his throat. “If… if it pleases you might you consider joining me?”

His words caught her off guard once more. Her old self would have said ‘Hell no’ and then walk away but. But there was something about his words and his manner that said that if she walked away now then she would regret it the rest of her life. So she leapt and allowed fate to take its path.

END.
