A day or three after Christmas (she'd have to double check) found Sherry more or less pacing in her room. She'd been busy the past few days, which had been good, since it meant less time to think. But today she found plenty of time to think, and that left her a bit flustered.
Really, Sherry was doing her best to learn her lessons. How to fight, how to train effectively, how to not show her fears, and how to have a backbone and just do what needed to be done. She was currently convinced that all things were easier out in the field.
"Later." Having Armagnac comment on her thoughts was just the push Sherry needed. She stopped pacing, left her room, marched down the hall and stopped in front of Jake's door. Before she could think better of it, she knocked.
There were things she wanted to ask the jerkface.

There was no answer, but should she try opening the door, she would find Jake currently passed out on his bed, snoring softly, wearing a familiar shirt and black pair of sweatpants. His hand still clutched a wad of wrapping paper.
It seemed SOMEONE had been quite studiously gift-wrapping EVERY DAMN THING in his room when he was out, and he had spent all night tearing off the wrapping paper off EVERYTHING.
Needless to say, it wasn't hard to figure out who the perpetrator was, considering her portrait was plastered on the ceiling with a less-than-subtle reminder to do his mission reports. It seemed she even put the "gift" he had left her to good use, and now his floor was littered with sticky notes, wrapping paper, and, well, everything was just a mess.GrnGriff Not slow at all! I on the other hand... :T

She didn't exactly wait long. Previous experience meant she already knew he wasn't likely to answer the door. Which meant she'd have to take the initiative here and just open it. She'd done it enough at this point it hardly phased her. Such actions were dangerous, really. Who knew what kind of situation she could walk in on? She'd already found him half dressed once, one of these days she was bound to walk in and find him-- Sleeping. In a room filled with paper scraps. She'd clearly missed something. Her hand still on the door, Sherry stood staring at the mess. Armagnac's opinion of Christmas hadn't changed. Sherry rolled her eyes and glanced back at Jake. Warmth and happiness welled up inside as she realized just what he was wearing. She'd been a bit worried he might hate the things she'd gotten. She sighed, he looked so peaceful and-- She blinked and straightened. The realization of her current situation hit her like a brick to the head. This was not only awkward, but watching people sleep was creepy. Very creepy. She was being creepy. She knew that leaving was probably what she should have done, but that still would have felt creepy. Nothing says creepy like watching people without them knowing. Which meant waking him up was the best option. "Jake," she took a step into the room, letting the door almost close behind her, but not quite. "Jake. Wake up."

Unfortunately, the boy was out cold, and didn't even stir at her voice.

In Sherry's view, this was going downhill fast. The longer she stood around, the more awkward she felt. "Yes, well," she was whispering, "if I left now..." It would still be creepy. Armagnac, Sherry sighed, you are missing the point. That makes it even worse. Some part of her knew the weapon was making sense. She could have just walked on out and pretended it never happened. But as far as she was concerned, it was too late for that. So, she took another step into the room, letting the door fully close. Paper shuffled around her feet and she inched closer to the bed. Once she felt close enough (but still far enough away to not be overly close) she placed on foot on the edge of the bed and nudged it. "Jake. Hey."

This time, one of his fingers twitched, but other than that, he was still asleep.

Armagnac was likely right. It appeared that Jake was a bit of a heavy sleeper. Sherry sighed again. To leave, or press on? It was a rhetorical question even to herself. She'd already decided not to leave.
Amusement was creeping into the weapon's tone.
No. Though the mention of fun started an idea forming...
Sherry had already decided the reason that things were easier in the field was because she didn't stop and think. She and Armagnac agreed that the biggest problem Sherry had was her habit to over think things, and that when she just did things life was much easier. It usually worked out better, too. Usually. At the moment, though it was a quiet a moment and nothing was really happening, Sherry found the awkwardness she felt was being encroached upon by slight irritation and by a desire to do something fun, as Armagnac had called it. When her emotions got all jumbled and overflowing like they were in that moment, Sherry stopped thinking.
Nope. Very little thinking was involved as Sherry tossed all her caution to the wind and leaped up onto Jake's bed. Jumping on it had suddenly seemed like a brilliant idea, so she did.

The moment Sherry jumped on the bed, the death trainee jolted up, eyes wide. "SOLIA! I swear, if you're-" He blinked, confused, and looked up to see Sherry standing on his bed. Just what the hell-
Jake groaned, dragging a palm down his face... only to realize it was sticky. What- Pulling his hand away, he plucked off a piece of tape and tossed it to the floor.
When he got his hands on that girl, he was going to KILL HER. At the moment though, it seemed he was being pestered by someone else. Glaring up irritably at Sherry, he frowned.
"Can I HELP you?"

Sherry raised an eyebrow at him, looking down at him for a moment before deciding it was safer to not stand on the bed. She sat straight down, crossing her legs like the child Armagnac accused her of being.
"Yes. Yes you can." She was grinning; his outburst had amused her, and she was rather satisfied with herself. "I wanted to thank you for your gift."

She had barged into his room and woken him up... just to thank him? ... he really needed to learn to lock his door.
"If that's all you're here for, please leave."
I didn't even want these.>
Only because you wouldn't stop NAGGING me about it.
SO?!
Jake groaned, burying his face in his hands. It was WAY too early for this. He just wanted to go back to sleep, for crying out loud.

Sherry opened her mouth, and then promptly closed it again. She had also come down to ask him about leaving the gift inside her room when she hadn't been there...but she suddenly felt that was something she could no exactly comment on. She blushed slightly, but didn't move. There was another thing she'd wanted to discuss.
"I also wanted to thank you for paying me back. But I wanted you to know that you didn't have to. Not so soon anyway."

Jake only gave her a bored look. This wasn't exactly how he wanted to spend his mornings, taking to a girl who knew nothing about privacy and personal space, and was currently sitting in his bed right now. The bed was barely big enough for two people, so this was probably going to get awkward fast.
He saw her fluster slightly and held up a hand. "Before you jump to conclusions, I didn't see nor touch anything. I couldn't exactly dump money outside your door, so, yah."
As for how he got in... it... was probably better she didn't find out. It wasn't like he was going to make a regular habit of dropping in unannounced in someone's room on his own whim, unlike SOME people...
He waved his hand dismissively when she thanked him. "I said I'd pay you back. I don't like being in someone's debt, and since I was able to access my funds, and actually had enough..."
He had to admit it was a new experience, having his own money that was earned and not, well, stolen. He actually hadn't expected to have so much either, but he guessed he did do his fair share of large and small-scale missions, enough to earn decent amount.
Even after repaying his "debts", buying some extra clothes (and other necessities) and "gifts", he still had a tidy amount remaining. As long as he didn't blow anything up (or break anything) anytime soon, it should be more than enough to last him until next month, since he got his pay for this month a bit earlier than scheduled just to pay for those things.

She forced a mock scowl onto her face, in an attempt to hide the blush she knew was creeping into her cheeks. She was clearly too transparent, and that was embarrassing for some reason. "I should hope you didn't touch anything." Of course, her mock scolding only reminded her of her own indiscretions, and she found she couldn't look directly at Jake. Instead, she looked down at the bed. "Well, you didn't have to do it. I didn't consider you in my debt. It's the kind of things friends do." She decided it was time for a subject change. "How was your Holiday? Looks a bit like you had a party in here."

You weren't fooling anyone with that scowl, Sherry. Except maybe Jake, since he was too bored and tired to care, but Chester knew. HE KNEW.
Jake only shrugged. "If you're so worried, go check." As if he'd find any use for jewlerry, or make-up, or whatever the hell it was women liked keeping in their rooms.
... Friends. That word again. At this point, he wasn't sure what to think of it. Even if he protested, she was ridiculously stubborn, so whatever, if she considered them "friends", then fine.
"$500 is still a lot to borrow. Besides, I should pay for my own stuff." He was sick and tired of having to depend on others.
When Sherry reminded him about the wrapping paper, he growled. Getting up, he tossed the wad he held into the trash bin, and began picking up scraps off the floor.
"A certain death trainee thought it'd be hilarious to gift-wrap every freaking thing in my room. I spent most of last night unwrapping everything." He made a fist. "I swear I'm gonna KILL her if I see her again."

"I wasn't really worried," she muttered under her breath. She trusted Jake, it was just a matter of...well. She supposed it didn't matter. She shifted a little bit, getting more comfortable on his bed. She only shrugged at his comments about the money. She had a feeling this was one subject he wouldn't budge on. "Well, I'm always happy to help." She watched as he began to move about and pick things up. His mini-rant brought a smile to her face and caused her to laugh. "That's brilliant! A lot of work, I'm sure, but brilliant. I hope you appreciate the effort behind it." She continued to chuckle as she watched him, though she made no move to help. It was nice to see that the clothes she'd bought seemed to fit rather well, though. (She had been planning to check on that, too. Returns were a hassle.)
