Appearance: Dinah is built like a viking...not that she knows what those are. Point is, she's tall (just under 6' ), big-boned, and built to smash heads. She's relatively pale-skinned for a Pernese, partly due to the nocturnal habits of a wherhandler keeping her out of the sun (which would lead to freckles, which would be unacceptably cute). Her eyes are blue, and she has white-blonde hair she keeps cut to just below her shoulders, but is usually braided and out of the way.

Personality:
Dinah is, first and foremost, tough. Her capability for endurance, both physical and mental, is high. She can deal with just about anything you throw at her, and she's proud of it. She's proud of that image, too, and cultivates and maintains her tough persona very carefully. If she gets sick or hurt, she'll do her best to hide it, and if she can't, she'll at least play it off as not being a big deal. She has no tolerance for weakness - or the appearance thereof - in herself, and the same goes for the rest of the world. She despises weaklings and whiners who can't pull their own weight, and she won't hesitate to let them know. This makes her into something of a bully, who pushes others around (verbally or physically, depending on the situation) in an attempt to toughen them up...or, failing that, to at least get them out of her sight. Accordingly, her temper is incredibly short, and it doesn't take much to provoke her into an argument or a fight. Early on it tended to get her into trouble, but by this point, most people who know her know to stay out of her way, so serious episodes have become fewer and farther between.
Dinah doesn't just look like she can break faces; she is more than happy to actually break faces. Having a legitimate excuse to get into a fight is definitely her favorite part of being in the Wherguard, not that she won't get into one with a...less legitimate excuse.
If Dinah likes you, though, she really likes you. She respects 'her' kind of people: capable, dependable ones who don't shy away from work or life. Even moreso than physical strength, what she really appreciates is intelligence. If someone is up to her standards, she wants them to be her friend, to the point where she might even try to badger them into it - the best need to stick together, after all. Even among friends, she can be pushy, whether it's with advice or just with what they should do tonight. Her sense of humor, unsurprisingly, can be abrasive and occasionally mean, although she doesn't really mean it when it comes to her friends...not that she has all that many.
History:
Dinah is the child of two wherhandlers, and all but one of her grandparents were handlers as well. Dinah never wanted to be a dragonrider; the boys get the good colors, with the exception of gold, and there aren't enough of those to risk Standing for and getting picked by one of the little colors. And besides, dragons and riders are a little too co-dependent for her tastes; at least if a wher or wherhandler dies, the other half of the pair can move on. Recognizing whers as vastly superior for their toughness and and just being all-around better, Dinah pursued wherhandling eagerly, and was diligent in all her training. Her intention was and still is to make her wher will be the best damn watch-wher anyone ever saw.
It took time for her to receive her partner, in part because she was 'held back' from a few clutches as punishment for fighting, but also because she was waiting for exactly what she wanted: for her grandfather's gold to lay a gold egg. Finally, the day came when she got what she wanted, and shortly thereafter, Dinask hatched. It also turned out to be her grandfather's wher's last clutch, as Garsk died less than a turn later.

Wher Personality:
What Dinah wanted was a big, ferocious, awesomely scary gold wher...but, unfortunately, we can't always get everything we want. She did get a big gold wher, but the rest? Not so much. Dinask is quite social and sociable, and is always happy to make the acquaintance of humans, dragons, flits, and other whers of all colors. She likes nothing more than to be close to her handler, or to anyone else she decides she likes (which they may or may not find unsettling), and one of the few times she's anything but content is when she's left alone. This gold suffers from a bit of separation anxiety, although it's not specific to her handler; as long as she has some company (be it another wher or human, or even a dragon), she's happy. Once left alone, however, she raises a terrible, noisy fuss both vocally and mentally. Obviously, this doesn't really sit well with anyone who might happen to be in the vicinity - especially if they're trying to sleep! - and so Dinah avoids leaving her alone unless it's absolutely necessary.
Despite her natural friendliness, Dinask is still useful as a wherguard, as her attachment to her handler also makes her incredibly obedient. While she certainly doesn't like to, she will display aggression or attack when pressed to do so. And, like any wher, will react poorly to a threat to her handler or anyone else she regards as hers (yes, beings she likes are hers - that is her prerogative as a gold, thank you!). She also gets rather testy when she has a clutch, and should be treated with as much caution then as any other clutching female.
Dinask is from one of the smarter lines of whers, and quite chatty! Her concepts are simplistic, of course, but she very much likes to share what thoughts she does have.
