There was a soft breeze in the air, calming with the scent of rain on its tail. The lands were splotched by the clouds of the coming rainstorm, yet the sun still persisted, shining its rays upon the earth where it could. It was in a patch of light that a lion sat, a stump next to him as he looked down at the ground, paws outstretched.
His thoughts were heavy, new emotions filling his head and heart. Envy and sorrow. He was starting to miss them, the family he once had. Here in the new lands of the Ela he had many kin from the shadow clan, however, they were not of blood. Nor were they his true 'family'. He didn't even know where his father was, nor his foster mother or siblings. Now and again there was talk of his brother being of the Ela, yet he hadn't been able to confirm this information.
Heaving a heavy sigh, the turquoise-eyed lion looked passed his paws and the ground for the first time and out at the horizon. He'd come this far, taken steps to being one with his new home. The last step however... Took more courage than he thought he had the guts for.
The answer to the loneliness lay in what he had just recently witnessed. Both the festival of Cloud and Rain gave him the ideas. He couldn't look behind him, no, he had to create a new family.
Feeling his heart speed up, Arlo chewed at his cheek. The admittance of feelings to a certain lioness would be something so unique he wasn't sure what to do. Yet he sat at his usual meeting spot, waiting for her, ready to either brush passed the thoughts or act upon them.
Taking a moment to calm himself, Arlo closed his eyes. Pulling air in and out of his lung slow and smoothly to pass time and perhaps bring himself out of the muddled ideas he had. Perhaps a clear answer would pop out... Perhaps...

The Festival had stirred up reoccuring feelings within Tabi'nasi too. She had never really minded leaving her sister behind, but seeing the Tree ceremony reminded her of how she knew no one here when she joined. That churning feeling of anxiety when you joined a place but weren't sure you fit in was not a pleasant one.
Now, in turn, as brash as she could be, she did her best to welcome in the new shadow clan members, let them know who they needed to talk to if they needed something, or just let them vent their anxieties to her. She never made to move to speak to them after that, and so she was, for the most part, left alone. Her enjoyment came in bursts, though she knew she could always depend on Arlo's stories to keep her entertained. That silly male.
Speaking of, she was walking towards their usual meeting spot. Her slow pace meant that he was certainly waiting for her, but she took the time to enjoy the weather around her. Bits of blue sky peeking from heavy rainclouds, the soft breeze tickling her fur. Living in a more open area like the Ela'wadiyi suited her. Here you felt the change of season, the rain as it watered the earth, the wind carrying in new oddities. A jungle or a canyon couldn't offer that.
Her eyes lit up a bit when she saw the sandy-coated lion, with his blonde-green mane. "Hello, Arlo," she greeted with a smirk.

Standing before he even truly realize Tabi was in his presence, Arlo felt his heart skip a few beats and stomach knot up. The feeling only worsened as he with each passing day. No matter what he did, whether it be after a scouting trip, when with her for nearly the whole day, avoiding her and meeting her rarely. They all wouldn't cure the feelings that rose in him. He was trapped.
Looking at her now though, even with his feelings fluttering all around him, he couldn't help but smile back almost awkwardly. His smile broad and goofy while his eyes a bit dreamy and have lidded.
"Miss Tabi, welcome back." Bowing a little towards the grey stripped lioness he started towards her. If anyone could make him feel at home in these vast new lands, it was she.
"I hope your trip here wasn't too long or troublesome." Stopping now a few feet away from his dear friend he waited, happy to just share the space near her. His latest scouting trip was fairly carefree, having been sent off to track the herds and the safest route to travel next.
"I can not wait to take you to our next destination. I found the perfect spot to make a home for you. The water there is plentiful and the herds very near. I apologize for taking so long also. I must confess the festivals distracted me some..."
Chewing his lip at the confession to her, he awaited her tongue to react. Even if she became upset, he felt less guilty having told her where he was.

"It was not troublesome at all," she answered with a widened smile, wondering what he was up to. He seemed as kind as ever, but this was a different situation than normal. They were a little removed from the clan at the moment, but Tabi wasn't worried at all. It was a short excursion, and they would rejoin the clan again at some point soon.
"You're making me curious, Arlo..." she said, a slight flicker of worry in her eyes. She wasn't a real giddy-type female, but Tabi was still a little bit worried about what he had planned.
"You're not trying to surprise me with anything, are you? You're always so sweet, but you're being too sweet even for your right now." She narrowed her eyes, peering up at him, though her ears remained relaxed, and her body was not tense.

Arlo listened intently, watching Tabi's facial expressions change as she explained her feelings to him and then questioned his intent. Had he really been over the top with his kindness...?Yeah, probably. He was nervous as ever after all and didn't want to miss the chance. However, trying as he was Arlo was certainly acting strange for his normal behavior.
"Umm, well you see..." He shifted his gaze towards the ground, not exactly sure what to do at this point. He was feeling like a cub all over again, much to his disdain. Taking two deep breathes, he paused, thinking carefully about what he wanted to say to her. This wasn't like him at all and he didn't want to be as awkward as he was currently.
As soon as the words came to him, Arlo looked back up at Tabi a soft, confident smile on his face. "Miss Tabi'Nasi... You see, every time I leave all I think about is working hard for the pride, learning as much as I can... And you." Pausing for a moment, he let the words gain weight before continuing, unconsciously inching a little closer in the process.
"I've met many characters in my travels, made an exorbitant amount of friends too. But, I can tell you with certainty that I only get as excited as I do when I know I am going to be able to spend time with you." He felt his face flush as butterflies attacked his stomach. Yet, with all the weird, strange, but wonderful feelings he also felt a weight lift from him. He had done something he had been meaning to do for awhile. Locking her grey-green eyes for a moment, Arlo let his final words drop.
"What I mean to say is... I love you."Safaia I apologize for the wait.
