Iliyana wasn't entirely certain of what she was going to be doing today. She knew that she had been assigned to help a rider - in this case, the Weyrwoman - with something for the afternoon, but what that was she couldn't say. All she was sure of was that it was likely going to be difficult and time-consuming, and that she had better be on her best behavior so that she didn't upset Weyrwoman Ticene.
With that thought in mind, she arrived to her destination a bit too early, and was left fidgeting nervously while she looked around, trying to run all of her possible duties through her mind at once, but everything she could come up with seemed plausible enough, and it just made her more anxious. Iliyana had attempted to tie her hair back, but the golden curls escaped their bonds despite her efforts. In desperation for fear of a particularly dirty chore, the candidate had finally ended up tying a stretch of cloth over her hair, and hoped that it would hold.
Now... where was the Weyrwoman, so she could know what she was to do with herself for the next while? She had to be around here somewhere...

It was long since past the point where Ticene needed help. For the most part she tried to remain as active as she had been before, but it had reached a stage where Calith had complaints. With other things taking more time than usual the gold felt that her rider no longer had the time required to clean her to her prior standard. The dragon refused to admit however that she was also concerned about Ticene trying to manoeuvre around to clean certain parts of her. Ticene knew that was one of the dragon's main concerns, but it didn't fit the imagine Calith liked to present, so she didn't feel the need to share it with anyone. This had led to Ticene requesting a candidate to aid her. She knew that candidate often helped threadscored riders; she didn't see it being a problem if she got one to help.
The pair arrived at the same time, although through different methods. Despite being a dragonrider, Ticene couldn't say she did much riding as of late. Although riding itself was no problem, Calith was very considerate about not bumping her in flight; it was getting on the dragon that was the trouble. As such the dragon arrived at the bay by gliding down from her previous resting place, while the woman arrived on foot.
"Ah, you must be Iliyana," Ticene said smiling warmly as she reached the candidate. She had been considerate enough to learn the name of the candidate that had drawn the straw of helping her. Whether it was lucky in their eyes was yet to be discovered. Calith landed not far from the two and stood, waiting for her rider and what she had labelled her 'assistant'. "I imagine you are wondering what I requested you help with." The Weyrwoman waved the candidate to follow her as she walked slowly toward the dragon. "Today, you are going to be helping me wash and oil Calith." Raising her hand Ticene held up a bucket, inside of which were the supplies needed to clean and oil the dragon's hide.
"I would usually do it alone, but as you can imagine it's getting a bit tougher." A hand on her stomach showed clearly the point that Ticene was trying to make. Looking up as they reached the dragon the woman's smile softened. Calith lowered her head and rubbed her nose lightly against her rider's head. "Calith, love, this is Iliyana. Iliyana, this is Calith." Slowly whirling sapphire eyes turned toward the candidate as a gentle rumble emerged from the dragon's chest.

Oh! So this was what she had been summoned here to do. Iliyana smiled at Ticene and bobbed her head - which caused a few more curls to escape her impromptu head scarf. The idea of helping to wash and oil Calith was.... well, it was somewhat frightening, she had to admit that much, but it would certainly be useful! She would learn more about how to care for dragons, which was excellent - but if by chance the great queen should be in a bad mood, this could be a very difficult job, indeed.
Following after the clearly-pregnant weyrwoman, Iliyana watched the gold as she watched her, and listened to what her Rider was saying. "It must be getting hard for you," she said sympathetically to the woman, then turned and smiled up at the great queen dragon - a little nervous, yes, but not too worried. After all, Calith's eyes were whirling blue, which meant that it was probably okay right now.
"Hello, Calith," she said, stopping a little behind and to one side of Ticene. "I hope that I can of some help to you and Weyrwoman Ticene." Adjusting her head cloth to try and shove her hair back up under it, she added, "I'll help make sure you feel nice and clean soon."

"It's getting a bit tough, but it's worth it." The woman smiled warmly as she looked at the candidate, maybe toning down how tough it was. All the inconveniences brought about by the pregnancy, Ticene only saw as her payment for having the baby. That wasn't to say that Tic wouldn't rather it ran a bit smoother, but it was a necessary evil. She also wasn't going to complain too much, her time seemed to have been easier than several women that she had spoken too. Sometimes she thought that Calith had it lucky; guarding an egg seemed much easier than carrying a baby for the length she had been doing so.
The gold looked at the young girl for a long moment, before dipping her head in greeting. Ticene was relieved that Calith was in as good a mood she was. It was probably the idea of being truly clean that pleased the female enough that she was short on sniped comments that day. True to her colour, Calith was remarkably vain, hating the mere idea that she could be dirty. In comparison to other dragons, she was capable of being considered clean. The dragon's hide hadn't even to dull before she had begun to point out that she was dissatisfied.
Tic laughed slightly and waved her hand at the girl's formality. "Call me Tic, please. 'Weyrwoman''s only for meetings and when someone's in trouble." Ticene had never liked the title coming before her name or, even worse, when people didn't even use her name when addressing her. Calith rumbled happily at the idea of being truly clean soon, passing the two humans by she walked into the shallower water and settled herself down to be cleaned. "Well, guess that's our cue to get started," Ticene said as she made her way over to the dragon. As she walked she tied a knot in her skirt to stop it touching the water.

"Um... I'll take your word for it," Iliyana said. She didn't think the idea of hauling around an infant for so many sevendays sounded like it was worth the trouble, but... eh, to each their own. And she had time to deal with that sort of thing when she got older. Right now, however, she couldn't help but think of it as icky, tiring, and more trouble than it was worth.
Now, Impressing and caring for a dragon, on the other hand... especially a beauty of one like Calith, that was something to look forward to! Hurrying after Ticene, she peered up - it seemed to her to be endlessly up - at the form of the gold, and bobbed her head agreeably to Ticene's insistence on a less formal name. "Tic it is, then," she said, and offered a tentative smile to the older woman before joining her at the dragon's side.
"Are there any areas in particular that you've been having trouble tending to? I could get those first, if you'd like," the young blonde said, addressing both rider and dragon with her query. While only one was likely to answer, she didn't want Calith to feel excluded, either.

"It's not everyone's idea of fun." Actually it wasn't many people's idea of 'fun'. Ticene certainly wasn't of the opinion that it was all to be sunshine and smiles. There would be tantrums, teething, lack of sleep, having to stop it from getting into anything it shouldn't. Really she should be grateful that now all she had to suffer was discomfort. Yet still she was happy, she was excited. All the negative things people listed off as the trials of children didn't seem to even measure an inch against the small life that she was carrying. Maybe that was a new mum thing though, she would know soon enough.
Looking from the dragon to the candidate Tic returned her smile, though hers was cheerful and confident. "Well, her shoulders are a nightmare. Poor love's been trying to lie so I can get them, but it gets uncomfortable." Tic gave a thoughtful hum as she considered it. It was impossible for her to scrabble up Calith's sides nowadays, so twisting had been the only option. It was a poor one though. "If it wouldn't be too much trouble, scrubbing her back too would be great help. You'll have to get up on her though for that." Calith rumbled her agreement with this plan. Yes, she would like to be clean without twisting about. The dragon lowered her body and raised her leg to give the girl a slightly easier way of getting up. Although Ticene had meant it as a suggestion, Calith clearly had decided there would be no arguing on the matter.
