Blast this thing was heavy! Morhavon struggled to pull the basket, the basket that he had apparently fathered. It wasn't easy, even with the leaves and vines he had wrapped about it and himself in a sort of makeshift harness. For such a small thing it got heavy quickly. He had taken it from the mother, a mare whose name he couldn't remember and honestly didn't care to know. She had claimed he was the father, and while he couldn't remember any events that lead up to that, he did remember waking up with a pounding headache, so perhaps he had simply lost those memories. All he knew was, that he had to get rid of this thing soon. He had originally planned to take it and then promptly abandon it, but doing so too quickly would mean that the mare may find it, no he didn't want that to happen.
He had been dragging it for a few days now and was nearing a place he had heard of through whispers of passers by. A place of evil, a place ruled by a spider mate, a place that sounded oddly welcoming to him. But he had no desire to stay in such a place, he had a different destination in mind, his old home, the dangerous lands they had left and now he was returning to. He paused in his walking as a large Soquili came towards him. The stallion didn't look all that welcoming but Mornhavon would not be deterred. Before the stallion could say anything Mornhavon lifted his head and spoke. "I seek an audience with your leader, I have a proposition she may be interested in." He had expected the stallion to try to chase him off but instead the large beast nodded his head and went off to find Pirata.

When one of her guards had come to her with a request from one of the little ones..Pirata had almost just sent him back to kill the little beast. But the stallions description o the stallion and the odd contraption he had built..and the oddity of someone demanding an audience with her in the first place, was enough to stay her initial thought.
"Shall we go and see what he wants my pretties?" She asked her spiders, lowering her head so that they could skitter onto her before moving towards the little stallion where he waited.
When she drew close to him she fixed him with a steady gaze of her multiple eyes, his markings at least were pleasing, why he was almost like a living skeleton, and the contraption behind him..a basket she saw. interesting indeed though none of this answered the question of why he was here. Her spiders hissed and drummed their legs, posturing at the little stallion. "Indeed my pets, it is not often we get a visit from the little ones. What do you seek here little stallion?" She asked in a silky voice.

Seeing the mares approach Mornhavon knew he had made the right decision to come here and see her. She was far from ordinary, he knew that from the hushed tones in which those who had mentioned her spoke in. Seeing her now, in the flesh it was an amazing sight. And those spiders of hers, well she truly was the spider mare described by the others. When she spoke thought a frown grew on his lips. He hated being called little, there was nothing he could do about his short stature but that didn't mean he wanted in mentioned to him at every occasion. Still he wasn't about to let that stop him from achieving his goal here and so with a slight shake of his head he ignored the 'little' comment. "Spider Mistress, I am glad you could spare the time to see me." He wasn't buttering her up, it wasn't his way, and indeed he was actually happy to see her.
But enough with that it was time to get down to business. "I have heard whispers about you, whispers that might send others running in the opposite direction but instead it brought me here. You see I have a problem, I need to get home and your lands lay between me and my destination. I could go around, but as you said I am little and it would take far longer to do so. I wish to travel through your lands." He paused for a moment before continuing. "I am no fool, I know I cannot simply cross which is why I asked to speak with you." He stopped there, wanting to hear what she would say regarding this before going on with his offer, more specifically his payment if she agreed to let him cross her lands.

Pirata listened as the stallion spoke - it was strange to hear such serious words coming from one of the little beasts, indeed for the most part she thought of them as little more then pets..tiny things one could kick in the head when they got annoying and teach to do a couple of useful things if you were lucky. But this one..this one sounded almost sensible. How utterly amusing.
There was very little in the world which Pirata found amusing and so she was inclined to indulge him for a little while and see where this went. It was nice to hear that others were whispering of her as well..always good to know that ones reputation was intact. "So then you are a brave and smart creature then arn't you to have drawn such a conclusions when so many others simply attempt to sneak through. Such attempts do not end well for them." She confided in the little stallion in the same soft voice she had spoken with before. Her spiders meanwhile had crept from her body and were slowly approaching the stallions basket, chittering to one another as though discussing it.
"But being wise and brave are hardly reasons for me to simply let you cross now are they?" She stated, blinking her multiple eyes at him in a sly fashion.

Mornhavon gave a small nod of his head at her words. "Those who try to sneak through are asking for their deaths even if they may not realize it. I have little desire to die, at least not yet." Death was the one thing in the lands that no one could avoid and he accepted that but Mornhavon seriously doubted that today was his destined day to pass on. His attention moved to the spiders for a moment. No longer were they perched upon the mares back, now they approached him...no, they moved towards the basket that he had so stubbornly hauled all the way out here. His kept his attention on them for a moment, he couldn't afford for them to do another with it - not yet at least. Slowly his gaze shifted back to the mare.
"You are right, that isn't enough reason to let me pass. That is why I brought this with me." He motioned to the basket behind him. "It is...mine from what the mare told me. I have no desire to raise it, nor did I care to leave it in her care. Take it, do what you want with it, raise it, throw it off of a cliff, feed it to them for all I care, all I ask if safe passage through your lands. What happens to it once it is in your care is no concern of mine." It was a terrible offer, at least it would be in the eyes of most Soquili but Mornhavon was almost completely certain the mare would be amused by it. Now it rested on her accepting his offer or else he would have a long journey around the mountain and would still be bogged down by the bsaket.

Pirata's brow quirked slightly at the stallions offer...but far from being appalled by the thought she found something rather delicious about being offered someones child just for safe passage through her lands. It was wonderful to think he reputation had grown so much that such a sacrifice - even if this stallion did not seem to care for the thing - was being given. Delightful..utterly delightful. Besides her spiders could do with a nice snack and what better delicacy then newborn baby Usdia?
"It is your first child?" She asked the stallion with a sly look, while she intended to accept the offer simply on the vicious principle of it - knowing it was the stallions first born would be even more wonderful. Another thought hit her then however and she narrowed her eyes at the stallion. "And the mare? What was she like..How do I know the beast inside is not damaged?" Not that she intended to keep it..but it was nice to make the stallion squirm, just a little bit, before she accepted the offer.

Though her expression changed for a moment Mornhavon doubted that it was because he had offended her in some way. In fact he was almost certain his offer amused her, even if her expression was hard to read with those multiple eyes. The small Usdia gave his head a nod. "First and last if I have anything to say about it." This whole thing had been an accident but at least even with that he had something to barter with at this time. It certainly wasn't what he had initially planned to do with the basket but now he was glad he hadn't outright abandoned that first day.
His mouth twisted in a bit of an odd smile at the mares question. "You think me fool enough to offer damaged goods?" He had already proved he was smart enough to try to buy his way across her lands instead of simply crossing them, but it amused him that she asked. "I don't know much about the mare, she seemed a bit distracted but there were three of them. So I took this one to help...ease the burden." The way he said it showed that he meant anything but that, he had no plan to do anything with the basket except dump it off at Pirata's hooves. "Inspect it if you wish, you will find the foal is still alive." It was a gesture of good faith that he allowed her to check his goods before concluding the deal. He didn't think she would turn down his offer, but anything to help expedite it he would do. Besides even in the event the foal wasn't in tact he doubted he could cross the width of her territory before the little beast came out of it's basket so he would see his end if his words proved to be untrue.

Pirata was quite pleased to hear that the basket would likely be this stallions only foal - a fitting price to cross her lands without being turned into a slave himself, a life for a life. Of course she wasn't going to let that be to widely known, she couldn't begin to be seen as benevolent after all. Glancing at her spiders she cooed at them. "Go and look my sweets, tell me what you find." She told her eight legged pets and without any firther encouragement they swarmed the basket, skittering over it excitedly for several seconds before pausing to drum thier feet against the sides, waiting and then drumming again. It was enough for Pirata..if the foal was dead they would have attempted to web it up as they did most carcasses..the drumming was likely a response to the foals movements within. Chirping at the spiders she called them back to her, giving each a loving nuzzle as it returned.
"Lovely, very well living skeleton..you may cross my lands for the price of you foal, but cross quickly for it is a harsh land and winter will soon sweep over it." Although if he died in the process of crossing that would hardly be her fault..she had agreed to give him passage without Soquili interference..not an escort against mother nature.

Mornhavon simply watched as the spiders swarmed over the basket and drummed their legs along the wicker. He didn't care if they bite down on the thing to test to make sure it was still living, all he knew was that he was that much closer to ridding himself of the thing. When finally the mare agreed to let him cross for the price of his basket Mornhavon couldn't help but smile. "This has been a most fruitful exchange Spider Mistress. I hope you enjoy the little brute in whatever you choose to do with it." No longer needing to pull the beast around with him Mornhavon shook free from the makeshift harness and took his first step towards his new found freedom. He bowed his head to the large mare and began to walk away.
After a few steps he stopped and turned to look at the mare once more. "Not that I care what you do with the thing, but as you warn me to cross your lands quickly due to encrouching winter I should let you know the thing will open soon. A week if what the mare told me is correct." He smiled one last time at her, one that told her how pleased he was that he no longer had to drag that stupid thing around. "Enjoy Spider Mistress." With that he turned and began to trot off, he had a long way to travel and much as he oddly enjoyed the dankness of her lands he wanted to cross them quickly mainly so that he could be that much closer to his final destination.

Pirata nodded as the stallion told him how long before the basket would open - a week, that was fine. It gave her plenty of time to figure out exactly what she wanted to do with it..although at the moment she was leaning towards just letting her spiders eat it.
She watched the little stallion as he left for only a few moment before turning and demanding the guard nearby to fetch some slaves and haul the little basket higher up the mountain.
